  1. From what I've been told, you are very lucky to have a fine day in Milford Sound, Dusky and Doubtful Sounds.

We were there on a cruise 12 months ago and it was cold and wet. One advantage was that the waterfalls were really flowing and snow still on the mountains. It is beautiful in all weather , but on some cruises, they miss it altogether as it is unsafe for the big ships to enter.

  2. If you think to post a reminder here about 10 Dec that might help remind me to check, but I have made a note.

    Hi Mr Gut,

Just a gentle reminder, as we discussed earlier.

I'd appreciate it if you can look in to the Nikon underwater camera prices, but if you can't, no problems.

Don't waste your internet minutes whilst on board, I'm happy to wait until you get home.

Have a great cruise, wishing you calm seas.

    Thanks,

    Kerry

  3. I recommend you post something on the Princess board and see if anyone going on your future ship can check if the AW130 is available for sale on board and what the price is.

    This would avoid disappointment.

Thanks, but I think this is the best board to ask the question.

My original question was, do Princess sell the Nikon cameras at a better rate and do they cover Australian buyers in regards to Australian warranty.

Maybe some one (hint, Hint Mr Gut) who is cruising from Australia could ask the question for me. It would be very appreciated.

I don't want to wait until next year, only to find out they don't sell the camera I want and they won't cover the warranty.

  4. I used the silky pix developer suite that was free and it was just barely OK. I purchased Photoshop Elements 14 for $50 (USD) on sale and then uninstalled silkypix. I see no reason to ever use it again.

For me, the photoshop elements 14 was a one-time-buy. No $10 per month, or whatever, cost. It does what I want with no continual cost. I guess for serious people, the $10 per month plan might be reasonable, but it's not for me, yet. After wearing 2 cameras for 2 weeks during our May cruise and Seattle visit, I have taken very few pictures since then.

Thanks Flatlander321. I will look in to your suggestions.

  5. Have any of the FZ200 users on this site ever used the Silkypix photo editing tools.

There is an offer at the moment (closes tomorrow) to buy Silkypix Developer Studio SE at 3800JPY, which is AU50.00.

I have never used any photo enhancing software and are weighing up my options,

    considering Photoshop or Lightroom.

    I would appreciate your advice.

  6. Regarding the China visa, if you live close to Sydney, it's best go to the Chinese Embassy and apply. You will then have to return 2 weeks later to pick them up, or when they contact you. Otherwise sending your passports via registered mail is quite safe. Include a stamped, addressed envelope, so they can post them back to you. I'm not sure if the other capital cities have a Chinese Embassy.

About the Carnival shares, pardon my ignorance, but can anyone tell me what the benefits are from having them. I have been curious as to whether it is viable to own them.

  7. Thank you all for your experiences of MDD and that I'm not the only one who has this. Like I said it seems to be hanging on for far too long.

I have seen my doctor, but he thinks it will pass in time. I hope so.

I have experienced vertigo in the past, but this is different. There is no associated nausea or head spinning.

From what I read, it can be caused by the motion of the ship or a long flight.

Now, that's a bit of a worry, we are doing a 35 day cruise next year.

I will try the Advil and see if it helps.

  8. Has anyone had Mal de Debarquement upon returning from a cruise.

The rocking effect of being on the ship doesn't leave you.

It has been 5 months since our last cruise and I am still rocking, mostly while standing.

I have had this before, but usually only for 2 to 3 weeks afterwards.

I would appreciate any tips on how to get rid of it.

  9. Thank you so much for that link to the web cam, David.

We could see the birds on their nests as we left the Dunedin Harbour in Dec.

Then, there were one or more of the birds which followed the Golden Princess all the way back to Bass Strait, flying and swooping right around the ship, for most of the day, even when we lost power for 3 and a half hours out in the middle of the Tasman. I took many photo's of them. Fantastic.
