I understand that we can all have a different experience when cruising on a given ship and I am sorry your cruise didn't turn out too great.  That is too bad that you were ignored.

That dog certainly could not have been a service dog for it was passed around between the two owners and even other passengers.  I would not expect to see that with a real service dog.  I too saw the dirty dishes in the stairways.  In fact, I saw a pile of dishes and a wadded up towel on the inside corner of the bottom of the first set a stairs for one of the decks.  Not only was this disgusting, but it was dangerous for I almost tripped on it.

I understand the unacceptable behavior by some of the passengers and we saw our share of bad behavior.

Fortunately, we had a very nice cabin steward.

Good luck on your next cruise.  I hope your experience is better.

We did see that dog, and would agree that it didn't act like it was a service dog.  But it didn't bite me, so I'm ok with it I guess.

We were just down the hallway from you guys on Lido.  I agree that there were many times that dishes were outside cabin doors. (not from us!!) It think the most that I have seen in a while.

If the guy in the scooter is the same one that I think it was, He sure was a miserable individual.  He seemed grumpy every time I had seen him.  I kind of felt sorry for him.  On a cruise and appearing not to be having a good time.

If your room steward was Jay, then agreed, that he was one of the best ones we have had for a while.

Yes.  It is the Princess promotions future cruise package.  I have been contacted about it before.  Evidently participation is offered based upon your status and number of cruise nights.  You buy cruise credits and other land based benefits.  Since nobody seems to know the promotion exists it might not be a commonly offered program.  Sorry if I created confusion.

It isn't based on your loyalty level, it is sold to everyone.  this promotion is sold onboard the ships also.  It is run by the O.N.E. company which Princess has contracted to be the loyalty hosts and future cruise sales onboard.  Now they cold call you with knowing your complete history of sailing with Princess.  This company used to sell timeshares.  Just so that you know.  Many people do not feel it is worth it, because they have had problem with the on shore hotel part of the package.

    Buyer Beware!!!

The Alaska 7 day cruises have a pretty low threshold maybe 200-300 days. Last summer we were in the top 10 with 470 days. Sailing Hawaii next month with 500+ days just crossing fingers

Currently on the Discovery Hawaiian cruise, the cutoff was around 680 days.

I wonder if the bean counters will ever figure out that cutting back on customer service will eventually lose repeat customers for for them.

I'm sure that they have heard about it.  However, I think they may have signed a contract that has them utilizing this call center for a certain amount of time, or else they will get a monetary penalty.  I know I refuse to book a Princess cruise if I have to call the call center, and I tell everyone I know that you DO NOT want to call them either.  Book it any other way but not with calling them.

I know there are many who have had problems or dislike the latest Princess app but I’m here to report it’s been flawless for me! Even the folio has been updated as soon as I made a purchase and even correct! So there is hope!

Glad it’s working good for you. It logged me off while I was onboard 4 times on my 15 day Panamá canal cruise.  But other than logging me off, it worked fine while using. But still has limitations.

We've never been on the Emerald...have never seen that on other ships.

First time on the Emerald ourselves.  Patter always said reservation required, and when we tried the walk up we were denied. Maybe having a party of 7 had something to do with it, don’t know.

  7. Just got off the Emerald Princess, you had to make reservations for the casual dining venues or else turned away.  We did try the planks one night and steamers on another night.  Reservations were handled by calling the dine line. We tried the app, and couldn’t do it.

Carnival Corp debt is almost unsustainable without some serious profit paying it down somewhat over the next few years.

Carnival Corp is doing fine paying down their debt.  Here's an article that shows they are ahead of forecasts on paying it down.  It is still a large amount, but it is manageable.

  9. I just read on another site that the daily internet prices are going up to $24.99 per person per day.  4 device will be $44.99 per day.  princess plus and Premier will not change in price.   I guess they are wanting us to get the packages!

MEDALLIONNET PRICE INCREASE — NO CHANGE FOR FARE BUNDLES!

Now It Pays to Plus® more than ever as the price of purchasing super-fast MedallionNet® separately is going up. The a la carte cost is increasing to $24.99 per person, per day, per voyage, for single-device Wi-Fi, and to $44.99 for four-device Wi-Fi, effective with pre-cruise purchases starting Jan 22. Additionally, the price will increase for onboard Wi-Fi purchase on voyages sailing Jan 31 and beyond. There is no impact to guests who have purchased MedallionNet at the current price ($14.99/$39.99) prior to these dates. It is also important to note that there is no change to the price of Princess Plus and Princess Premier

We have been cruising for some 20+ years on three different lines and some 15 ships. In reading this review and comments, it strikes me that folks are looking for faults/problems and need to quit complaining so much. All cruise lines have issues and their ability to attract staff is impacted by what's going on in society just as much as we are. We need to stop our whining and cut them some slack. Or go rent a beach condo.

I'm sorry but I feel you are incorrect about their ability to attract staff.  Since the pandemic, Princess has changed the pay (lower for most all crew) than what they were paying before.  This is a major reason for all the new crew and for crew to not renew their contracts.  Everyone keeps comparing to the problem of being able to attract staff like what is going on in the US and maybe even Canada.  But where these crew members are coming from isn't the US or Canada, they are willing to work, but not for a lower wage than they had before.  This is what Princess has done, and it shows!  I also feel that Princess doesn't have the amount of crew that each ship had prior to the shut down.  Fewer crew with full ships = problems that could be avoided!!

So it's going from 17% to 18%? All this is over 1%?

nope, not 1%.  they left the price the same as it was before (which included a 17% service charge to now having the same price but adding an 18% service charge.

So before the price was $39.00per person  which included the 17%

now $39.00 per person plus 18% service charge = $46.02 per person.

You would think the bean counters at the various cruise lines would at some point figure out that doing this sort of think instead of finding a way to make it right loses customers. And then especially in these times with social media gives them a lot of bad publicity that may also negatively affect someone else from booking their cruise line.

I agree with you.  I think that maybe they have signed contracts for using third party customer service agents that if they try to cancel it, it would cost them money.   And since the ships are currently sailing full or almost at capacity, the don't care.  They re making money, and that is all that counts!!

This was a very unusual event. I have cruised from SF at least 15 times and never seen this happen

It's not unusual  The tides are charted out for a few years at a time.  NOAA has the tide charts available.  The draft of the crown Princess hasn't changed either.  If they (the Port) had noticed that there was silt building up, they should dredge it.  They just rolled the dice and had Princess take the hit.
