  1. Yes, given we had two full days to sail from Port Everglades to PR, I was disappointed that we couldn't have made more progress early on in the transit, had there been concerns of any wind delays the half day coming into PR. I definitely don't claim to be an expert just was surprised at the delay, given that I know we were able to sunbathe on deck 16 that day and pools were full. It was windy but didn't seem extreme...
I'm sure Captain Peppas did the best he could. We were on the Jan 26th cruise and missed our entire first stop because of weather. So a 2 hour delay is very lucky considering.

We hit severe weather and by the 2nd sea day at 10am we were already running 7 hours behind.

  2. IMHO On the S class ships Sushi on 5 should be used as an overflow seating area for Al Bacio during non lunch/dinner hours.

I've seen this done once on our Solstice cruise in 2015 (only in the morning). The cruise was almost all Aussies (and we love espresso based coffee). At one stage they also had waiters come into the former Bistro on 5 and take orders for Cafe Al Bacio

  3. We would still recommend Celebrity over many lines. We just cruised 10 years ago with Celebrity and notice the changes, cutbacks etc. It's not a bad experience, it's just different.

It's still a great line, and you will still have a very enjoyable cruise. Our first cruise was 14 nights 1A balcony for $900, the cruise we just completed was $3800 Aqua Class for 9 nights and certainly things have changed (both cruises booked 2 years in advance of sailing).

No we haven't rebooked, but not because of the experience. More because of the price and there weren't any onboard perks that really enticed us.

  4. We were also on this cruise and would agree with you.

Room attendant - he did a good job, but he was very overworked (looked after both suites and aqua class). Most days we received the afternoon appetizers but not always. Some days our towels were quite tatty. He was very friendly though and we could see he was doing his best.

Bedding - time for an upgrade or replacement. Both my partner and I found the bed to be very uncomfortable. The pillows were terrible - I ended up using the square day pillows.

Speciality dining - was good, but not the best we've had. One dish in Qsine was so terrible we did not eat it (wrong sauces on meatballs, meatballs undercooked in center but tough and chewy on outside, over seasoned etc).

Drinks - couldn't agree more with the above poster about inconsistency. Every bar had a different way of making the same drink.

Oceanview Cafe - this is the best we have seen the buffet in a while. We liked that there were daily changing "specials/cuisines".

Persian gardens - we haven't used the Persian gardens before so this may we fleet wide. We didn't like that we had to check in and exchange our cards for cards that had access to Persian gardens. We have paid for aqua so our cards should automatically swipe us in. Flavoured water was often empty and "bed" hogs were in full force, certainly not adhering to the 20 minute rotation.

Entertainment- we felt this was the same as previous cruises. However, the activities team was the best we have had in 5 cruises. Very outgoing, friendly and good range of activities.

For the first time in 5 cruises we have not rebooked a future cruise onboard. We know we can get better incentives in future sales and the prices are very high.

  5. You pay that for a burger in Sydney don't you and you don't need to tip....?
If you are paying more than Au$20 For a burger, you are definately eating in the wrong place (for a burger) lol. It's not customary to tip in Aus, but sometimes in finer dining people will or just say "keep the change ".

  6. We have been to Tuscan Grille before ( and also Aussie). Personally don't think it is worth AUD$60 each. Definately keep an eye out for specials onboard though. We found the sailings out of Sydney were mainly Aussie, and most not willing to pay extra for speciality dining, so there will be promos and specials onboard.

  7. Does anyone know if the power strips (none surge protector) are allowed on certain cruises only? We had ours confiscated last time in 2015 ( did not have surge protection) and weren't going to pack one This time. But it really helps out when you are non US (rather than buying a heap of converters)

  8. We have a very active roll call for this cruise. I don't think anyone has organised a tour of Nevis. However there is a couple taking the ferry over, who suggested meeting up onboard to go over together.

I think there is also a group doing the sunset cruise in Barbados

  9. We stopped in the South Pacific islands in 2015 on the Solstice. We took over some local currency that we exchanged at travelex. Think I only changed over AUD $100 and didn't spend it all (unless you are after some of the local crafts etc).

I noticed alot of vendors and tour operators were also accepting AUD. Unsure about other currencies as we are Australian, so didn't take note. You should also be able to get local currency on the ship, but it will be limited.

  10. I reckon we will give them a go then ( we have some OBC anyway). American style burgers still aren't very common here in Australia ( so we don't get to enjoy them often). Many times, especially in towns outside of the city, you will still find burgers with fried egg and beetroot lol.

  11. I don't think they will be able to accommodate in Select. Not just the limited seats, but when dining Select you need to prepay your tips too.

The buffet is generally a very relaxed experience. Alot quieter than at lunch. Normally we see families with young children, crew and also the children's programs early in the night.

They have alot of different proteins that are grilled fresh to order.

Another alternative is to order meals from the main dining room to your stateroom. It is delivered all at once. However, we haven't done this for a few years. Hopefully someone can confirm if this is still possible?

  12. Depending on the service we receive we normally tip extra to our room steward ( above our prepaid tips). It is not customary to tip in my country, but some of the staff certainly go above and beyond.

  13. We can't see ours either. However,if we go into the cruise Planner ( celebrity website, log in with your reservation). Then go to drinks packages, ours says " upgrades are available". It lets us purchase an upgrade from our included classic beverage package to premium.
