  1. I onced believed that but once you open your eyes its just not true.......

There is a cruise study done every year and on average price across the board Carnival is cheaper. Can you find a cheaper cruise on a different line, absolutely, but on average across the board Carnival is less expensive. Just like every now and then my wife can find a cheaper dress at Neiman Marcus then it was at one of the discount clothing stores, but on average Neiman Marcus is more expensive than the say JC Pennys. Yet she could say I found the same dress cheaper at Neiman Marcus. But that doesn't make Neiman Marcus cheaper on average.

  2. I would eat with no table cloths on a picnic table in the MDR and not complain if there were no misbehaved or loud kids in there.... or no kids at all! Happy, happy, happy!

I would eat at a table with no table cloth in the MDR if there were no misbehaved adults over talking(loud) drunk and no singing waiters(tacky-dennys), and no over dressed people for banquet food.. Happy, Happy, Happy!

  3. Yes, they did for us on the Lido deck Jumbo.

One thing is the Dream is NOT set up well at all for watching sporting events. They have the Lido and then the casino bar (1/2 smoking- 1/2 non-smoking). Otherwise they did set up the Burgundy Lounge one mid-day for the Rose Bowl. You don't have much else.

They also carry ESPN_Caribbean - ? Not regular ESPN (but reg. ESPN 2). I only know this because there was not 1 TV on the ship the carried the Ohio State/Clemson bowl game. The Ohio State fans were going bonkers. I would too. The version of ESPN they carried had on a Dallas Mavericks NBA game that night?

I would have preferred the Dallas Maverick game over watching Ohio State choke another Bowl game. Go Mavs!

  4. ...really? I said I wasn't intending to rile anyone up and your response is that you're irritated with my post? You could've kept scrolling...

Would I pay for FTTF? Perhaps. Like I said, I understand why people buy it. However, now that I'm platinum, I see the frustration of feeling cheated because we invested time and lots of money for the benefit. If you earned a promotion to a new office at work, would you appreciate someone else being able to buy the office beside yours? Or a premier parking spot or any other perk that took time and effort on your part.

So since you cruised a certain amount of time you reached Platinum which gave you perks. I fly year round for my job and reached a certain level that gets me First class on flights, Yet someone that hasn't flown this particular airline can pay more and sit with me in first class, wow the nerve of them. I don't see your complaint as valid as every business does this to create revenue. Sour grapes.;)

  5. 1) You were leaving from NY , what did you expect as far as other passengers.

2)Why do you care what other people eat? It's their bodies and they can choose what they want to eat or how much. It's not like your going to get "second hand Fat" from them eating 10 pieces of bacon. I will never understand why it bothers you or others, what someone else eats or wears as long as it's not illegal or hurting someone.

If you eat like a bird, or get ill from watching what others eat, I suggest stay away from buffets.;)

  6. On Magic a couple of months ago there was a young man (mid 20's) in shorts (can't even call them casual), backwards baseball cap and tank top...hairy underarms and all. We didn't go on elegant night so don't know how he dressed then...maybe turned his cap around???

    It was ridiculous.

Did he also have that nasty hair on his head coming out from the backwards baseball hat? EEEk

  7. You can certainly give more than you owe 30% .but tips in U.S are really just a wage you pay yourself on the honor system . you work and your boss can give you a bonus , but really there is a minimum expected salary. now if you suck they can fire you but they still must pay you for work done. so to me 15% tip says you got your food and drink at some point and you did not carry your own dishes back to the kitchen but they could have done better. a %20 tip says you are well satisfied with your service and felt nothing was lacking that the server had any control over now If your food sucks refuse to pay the restaurant not the sever . now %15 too %20 is a %25 difference in pay .

tipping under %15 only says to the server you are dishonest and unreasonable.not that they did a bad job but that you are a dishonest person and would steal from people if there was no consequence.

some people are lovers of money more than they are lovers of people and this is becomes evident in in situations like this

Your completely wrong. It's almost that you don't understand the definition of "TIP". If your naïve enough to think that some of the workers are not out for the money(bigger tips) then you are not in reality. So are you going to say that the workers care more about the money than some passenger that wants to befriend him/her? Trust me those workers could care less about you but do care about the money they get from you. It's human.

  8. One is self-serve, the other is served. If you contaminate yourself, that's on you.

Plus the plates, etc. are different. Extra time and expense to separate and get them back to the proper place. Additionally it is underwhelming what some passengers steal.

There will always be some who will try to bend or break rules.

I was served bacon at the buffet, I wasn't allowed to self-serve the bacon, yet was allowed to take it back to room.;)

  9. Our inside on the Allure was almost the same size as an inside on CCL. However, I could see the importance of having more area in a cabin on CCL as you'll spend more time in it. It gives you a place to rest when you are tired of the long lines on the lido deck, the huge mobs of people on the promenade deck and pool area. Also, with a lack of entertainment and activities, you can sit in the room and watch the colorado feeds on the TV- wow!

We really didn't spend much time in our room as, along with the ports, we had a lot of shows to see, rode the flowrider, merry go round, attended the parades, got pics with dreamworks charactors, etc.

This new CCL ship looks like a continuation of CCL trying to cram more people into an old design, nothing at all innovative.

I remember when the sunshine came out, you said that the it would not be crowded, that CCL's cracker jack team of designers would make a crowded ship feel less crowded by adding 400 more people to it- yeah, we all know how that went.

Our balcony on the Allure was smaller than Carnivals. There were lines for everything on that ship. The food was average and the ship was way overrated and crowded. No thanks, being on the Allure for us was like being at a crowded shopping mall.

  10. Not really. Most of this comes from a very reliable source

Problem is your reliable source for the ships schedules turned out to be way off and not even close. So no thanks ,I will wait for actual facts before I make a decision.

  11. Yes my husband and I celebrated are 25 wedding anniversary Sept 2 1987 on this ship. I also remember how small the cabin was my head would hit the light switch on and off when we were in bed. I think the bathroom had more space then the room to move around. We had a wonderfull time and were able to cruise many more times before he died.

Were celebrating our 25th anniversary next year and I sure hope I can make my wife turn the light switch on and off. ;) Sounds like you have great memories. Hope ours are too.

  12. Too bad some folks think all the bad things are going to happen. This is what keeps FOX News alive. The world has lots of bad things. Luckily it has WAY WAY WAY more good things. (they just do not get the same attention).

The dock is fine. I can not wait to go.

Op you will have a great time.

Gaycarla, I guess you hate facts, because the non-partisan group "media Matters", has rated Fox news the most factual, not only are they most factual but their ratings quadruple Msnbc(who rated last in truthfulness) and CNN(2nd of last). So if the truth is not your cup of tea by all means watch Msnbc and Cnn. Fact

  13. You're correct. If we are going to put the blame on somebody, then lets put the blame on the correct individuals/department that put the wrong information in the planner and not the CVP that was only doing their job.

if doing their job is giving out incorrect information then job well done.

  14. I'm sorry, but I just can't continue this discussion as you still believe the rep was wrong and I do not.:)

The rep works for royal, royal was wrong therefore the rep was wrong. The information the rep gave was wrong whether they had the correct info or not, the rep gave the wrong info period.

  15. I feel bad for the Splendor. It is going to take a beating from the NY whining and grumbling crowd. Nothing worse than being on a cruise full of NYers, they trash the ship, get obnoxious and drunk(out of control drunk), and are never happy. The Poor poor Splendor, will need to be drydocked after NY.;)
