  1. Singapore Airlines has just taken delivery of her first Airbus A350 aircraft, with many more to come. Based on current orders, SIA will be the largest operator of the Airbus A350, when all her orders are delivered. This is some coverage in the local press.

  2. We sailed once from Southampton on the Adventure of the Seas and we had a wonderful time. We arrived (from Singapore), the day before and stayed 1 night pre-cruise at the Premier Inn West Quay. It was a short walk to the port but because of luggage, we took a taxi, which wasn't too expensive (I recall around 5 pounds?)

Here is a video of the Premier Inn experience.

  3. We cannot underestimate the psychological element. It applied to me too, until the prices of certain cruises got quite crazy and we saw itineraries on other cruise lines that looked good.

So now we don't have much loyalty.

Actually, the major cruise lines are all more similar than different. Go try and enjoy them all!

  4. Iluvcruising2 - what a great review, I was browsing through the Voyager pages and stumbled across this.

We are sailing on 11th October from Hong Kong to Singapore and just thought I'd have a quick look at your pictures, but got hooked and read the whole review.

At the end of the cruise, we have 3.5 days in Singapore - would you mind sharing your thoughts on what we should see or do.

Travelling from Aberdeen, Scotland so could be a long time till we back in your area.

    Thanks :D

Greetings and thanks very much for your compliment.

There is plenty to do in Singapore. Here is our tourism website - http://www.yoursingapore.com/en.html

Here is another useful link for ideas - http://www.timeout.com/singapore/101-things-to-do

I am sure you can get plenty of ideas from the above, but let me know if you need any help. Which hotel would you be staying in Singapore?

  5. I have booked the yacht club but having second thoughts. I am reading some really awful things about general service on MSC. The price was so good that i booked a future cruise...but now i'm having some serious doubts.

We like sailing in the Haven suites that NCL offers. We like the service that comes with this category. I'm worried that I will be disappointed.

Please don't judge...but for some reason I am picturing a stuffy and formal atmosphere on this boat....please tell me i'm wrong...we like relaxed atmosphere...not trashy relaxed...just relaxed and laid back but with good service.

It is not stuffy at all. We had so much fun. In this video, we were happily watching a bar-tender making our drinks at the One Bar area. Awesome fun.

  6. Read this review, I think it will help you to know that essentially this will be like the Haven, only better in many ways! Stuffy and formal? Not in the least! I was blown away by all that is in this review and the enormous amount of food that is put out within the Yacht Club daily as well as the Yacht Club dining room and free drinks. Wow! NCL is going to have to catch up. I love The Haven on NCL, but it's not as good as this in terms of all the free stuff you get!

We're going on Divina in a week and I'll post about our Yacht Club experience when I can. I KNOW it's going to be fantastic and I'm really excited to try this cruise line!

Thanks for highlighting my review. I hope you have a great cruise and I certainly look forward to reading your review of the Divina! (Also curious to know how MSC has customized the Divina product to the US market, since my cruise was on the Preziosa out of Genoa, and the bulk of passengers on board were European)

  7. I was beginning to feel sad and nostalgic because tomorrow we would disembark. Looking up, I saw the MSC logo.

It was a beautiful afternoon. Sea gulls were flying. Ship was making final preparations to leave. In this video, I am watching sea gulls fly, talking to myself and being ever so grateful that I have had the opportunity to cruise and bring my family for this cruise. Thank God!

I must add that I saw a few passengers smoking. This was an issue mentioned previously in other posts. Well, it didn't bother me much. It was windy and I couldn't smell any smoke. (I am not a smoker)

If you look carefully, you can see that the lady is holding a cigarette.

  8. As some have pointed out, the price is really good. Let me be more specific. For my family of 4, originally we planned to fly to Europe on Singapore Airlines. The price was 3800 USD return for the 4 of us.

Then we checked Turkish and the price was 2700USD, ie savings of 1,100USD for the return flight. There is a layover of 3 hours at Istanbul, so my plan is to buy access to a paid lounge for the 4 of us so that we can rest a bit.

  9. I went up to the pool deck to watch the sail away. Before that, I explored the water park for kids again and made this video. Notice one jacuzzi tub very near the aqua park. I think it was designed such that the adults can enjoy the jacuzzi while kids play at the water park.

    Some pictures.

    Very nice water play area.

  10. I am Italian and I don't think there is much difference between European and American cruising style except for food and language. Most Italian cruisers who can speak English actually prefer Royal Caribbean over our lines (Costa and MSC), because ships and service are better, no one thinks they are "too American".

If you have kids, you will probably notice that Italian don't have the "adult only" concept, so teens have much more freedom and can do pretty much everything adults can do except for gambling and drinking alcohol under 18 (but they can drink on land in Italy!).

If you go during the very long Italian school holidays there will be A LOT of young kids on the ship, as they travel almost for free on Costa and MSC.

Good tip on the Italian school holidays. Could you tell me what are the dates of these holidays? (Hopefully we can plan around them...)

  11. Does anyone know if the inside cabin of the Yacht Club on the Seaside will have the same benefits as the suites? I'm booked in a Fantastica Suite now, and am wondering if it's worth giving up the balcony and extra room.

I am not sure if I fully understand your question.

Any cabin (inside, balcony, royal suite) in the Yacht Club will get all the Yacht Club perks. The Yacht Club is MSC's premium product. You can check out my review of our Yacht Club experience on board the MSC Preziosa (review link my signature).

The Fantastica suite, as far as I recall, is not within the Yacht Club area. There are probably some perks, but nothing like what you would get in the Yacht Club.

  12. Thank you for your post! I presume you would greatly recommend the MSC Yacht Club?

I'm definitely looking forward to reading your review (in your signature link)

Thank you for your comment and thanks for reading my review.

After sailing many times on Royal, we chanced upon the MSC Yacht Club because of cruise critic. There was a very good picture review by another cruise critic member from a few years ago and it was because of that review that gave us the confidence to try the Yacht Club.

No regrets. It was a fantastic experience relative to the price we paid.

Overall, I would recommend the Yacht Club if you want that something extra (assuming MSC doesn't jack up their prices too much). That said, I think I would let my review speak for itself and let cruise critic members come to their own conclusion after going through the review.

  13. We sailed on the MSC Preziosa on a 7N cruise out of Genoa in Dec 2015. I have done a comprehensive review on the MSC Boards. On this thread, I will put the videos of the seven wonderful dinners we had on the 7 nights on board this cruise. At one glance, you can see what we ate in the Yacht Club restaurant on board the MSC Preziosa.
