  1. Hi, I hope some of you can help out. I have the opposite problem of a previous poster. My waist is probably the biggest part of me. By the time you get down to my hips, they are at least a size smaller. Compounded my the fact that I'm way overweight. I have to sit a lot do to back and hip problems that started many years ago.. I always where an elastic waistband. When standing, by the time I reach down to my lower hips, I can grab a handful of fabric on each side. I'm having an awful time finding some nice clothes for an upcoming trip. Any advice?

  2. My first two Princess cruises were in Riviera deck PH Suites (R412 on the Emerald & R408 on the Ruby). As prior posts mentioned, there is noise from the Lido deck. The noise however wasn't an issue for me. What I was a little disappointed with was the size of the balcony. To me at least, it was kinda narrow. Below is the link to my Flickr album for our 2009 T/A on the Ruby. Pictures of the cabin are on page two of the album....:):):)

Thanks so much for the link.

  3. We took upsells twice on Riviera deck, once in 408. You could hear chairs being moved around early in the morning. I am a light sleeper. Annoyed me a few mornings. I am up usually at 6 am anyway on a cruise but 3 or 4 was a bit too early. I used earplugs and then had no problems. The bed was very comfortable but that was almost 2 years ago. You can request all kinds of pillows. I had a body pillow and a couple feather pillows. Balcony is very narrow in my opinion, but long. One end had a table with 4 chairs and the other end had a padded lounge with a small table. Balcony is covered as I recall. I am hoping for an upsell on my upcoming Feb. cruise. I would book this cabin again if the price was right. Enjoy!

Thanks Mamaboss. The body pillow sounds wonderful. How is the shower? Just a regular one? And is the whirlpool very big? Lot of counter space in the bathroom? Is the deck furniture padded? So many questions. first time in a suite.

  4. Fortunately, we are both good sleepers. Don't think we'll have a problem sleeping. One question is the bed. Since the Crown doesn't go into dry dock until after we sail on her, is the bed anymore comfortable? Also, what about the deck? Is the whole deck covered? How much furniture is there out there?

  5. I'd take the Emerald deck mini in a heartbeat. Covered, very private balcony. I've had quite a few mini's in that area and loved the cabin and location. I'd book it over midship cabin any day but then I'm in the minority and won't book a mid-ship cabin.

I'm with Pam. Always love those mini-suites.

  6. Sorry some of you have had such a bad experience at the Crown Grill. Every time we sail on Princess, we eat there at least once. The last time was February 2016. I had the rib eye with Au Gratin potatoes and asparagus. The rib eye melted in my mouth. And the rest was just as good. Have never had a bad meal there. Hope it doesn't change.

  7. Just my personal opinion. I like to sleep on the side closest to the bathroom. I Don't have good night vision and it's easier for me to sleep on that side. Thanks to my wonderful husband.

  8. I guess I need to say something here. We just got off of the Emerald Princess on the 6th after doing a B2B cruise. We decided to try SHARE with me kicking and screaming. Menu did not look good to me. But hubby convinced me to try. I am a very plain and picky eater from the midwest. And no fish or seafood. But, they managed to find something I liked. For an appetizer, I had the little gems. And after trying some, I actually liked some of them. For my main course, I had the Twice Cooked Duck. First time I've tried it. Wonderful! And for a side, I had the potatoes gratin. An excellent combination for a picky eater. Then shared my husbands desserts. I left feeling very full. Just wanted to say, maybe some people should give it a chance. I know it's pricey, but defiantly a good experience.
