Why didn’t the cruisers play cards?
Because the Captain was standing on the deck.
;)

You know that slight bump you feel when the ship has finally pulled entirely into the port?
Pier pressure.
-
A very nervous first time cruiser approached the Captain: "Do ships like this sink very often?"
"Not too often," replied the Captain. "Usually it's only once."

OK... everybody is getting me excited for our cruise! ;p
Keep 'em coming!

What's your NCL cruise traditions? :ship:
It could be something you have to do every time you board an NCL ship.<3
Or... something you must see... something you must eat... something you can't miss... a picture you must take?
OK.... go. :D

The best part about Cruise Critic... it often lowers your expectations... so you end up having an even better time. :p

Are there any restrictions on NCL ships for using a power strip in your cabin? We will be on the Jewel in April.
-
Thanks. This makes me feel a bit better about the kids club. Any tips that past NCL cruisers have would be appreciated as well. :)

We're booked for a spring break cruise on the Jewel to the Mexican Riviera on April 9. We have a 12- and 9-year old. This is our first NCL cruise - but have taken smaller ships on Carnival and RCI in the past.
I am beginning to think we may have chosen the wrong cruise line. I don't really see much about the kids clubs - except that it has a circus theme. This doesn't seem to make me feel great about my choice.
Anybody have an experience with children on NCL - especially their older Jewel class ships. Any tips?
Thanks!

Thanks Speasda for posting the link to the dailies. It was very helpful and interesting. :)

Me too! :)

Just a few more days... and then we'll be "faster to the fun!" Thank you everybody.

Please give us a review of your experience with FTTF when you return...We are contemplating it but not sure if its worth the extra $$$.
Hope you have a great trip!
I sure will!

What's your concern about the location?
Thank you for this. I didn't remember the trundle bed. Your response was very helpful.
As for the location - I can never wrap my head around a good location until I am physically on the ship. But really, as long as I'm on the boat, I am happy... :D
My concern was having a spot for everybody to sleep.
Thanks

We signed up for Faster to the Fun for our Inspiration cruise on Monday. What time can we check in? We would like to get on board as soon as we can, as we will already be in Long Beach.
Anybody have any advice?
-
So, we take off on Monday March 21. I was finally assigned a cabin:
M245 (6B)
I am a bit disappointed, but I'm not sure if this is warranted. Any thoughts about this location?
Also, my travel agent said this would fit my family of four. The kids are 8 and 11. I see some cabins have two bunks - but this only has one. Not sure this will fit our family?
Does anybody have any thoughts, based on their past cruises on Inspiration? :)
Regardless, we will make it work - but I wanted to know if anybody can explain a bit more about this cabin location - and how four people fit in this sort of configuration?
-
And with the way the plugs are positioned, and big plug will block the plug below it.
But with six outlets on this power strip, that is really not an issue!
I received this from Amazon, and am happy with the purchase.
-
46... on the Inspiration! :)
-
I found another thread. The power strip cannot have a surge protector.
It was a little bit of a challenge, but I found this one on Amazon. No surge protector and it's super cheap...

Does anybody have a recent experience with power strips on Carnival ships?

OK... I'll bite. What happened to the third bottle?
What is your favorite cruise line that no longer exists?

We honeymooned on the SS Rembrandt in 2000, which was part of Premier Cruise Lines. It was the former Rotterdam of Holland America. I just remember how romantic and quaint the ship felt.
I just read that the ship was purchased by the city of Rotterdam and it is now a museum.
Of course Premier and their Big Red Boat concept is probably responsible for today's family programming on several lines (including Disney).
