  1. When we were in St Kitts about 2 years ago there was a big black Schooner that people could sail on as an excursion. I didn’t see it listed as a RCCL excursion. We will be going back in September on Freedom of the Seas and my husband has his heart set on going on this Schooner if possible. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Does anyone know about the coffee card recently from Adventure? The boards say it may be more than one punch depending on the size. Any Bayonne departures with recent experience?

We just came off Adventure and I bought the coffee card. I used it multiple times a day and different sized coffees. From tall to venti, they only charged me one punch per drink. Now...it could depend on the person working, but I never had an issue. I even have 3 left on my card so I'm saving it for our Navigator cruise in November.

  3. WE signed up for a rental Spyder ! Hope to see Maho and Orient Beach and see the rest of the island.

Our cruise leaves April 14th for 8 days.

Did you guys do the Spyder rental? We are going next week and wanted to try this but my husband wanted to hear from someone who rented one recently. Did they supply the helmets?

  4. You have been a huge help Kelsey Thankyou

I’m thinking a walk around the old town first, down the board walk to the fountain then through the streets to find the cathedral, the statue and I wanna see the PR flag painted door as I love street art. Then use the free trolley ( hopefully they working ) to go to el Morro and Cristóbal

I am thinking I bypass Morro and just do Cristóbal unless it’s an absolute must. Then a nice long lunch for some PR food maybe a spot of shopping. Happy to give the beaches a miss here and focus on the city although I hear it’s hot I can already hear my 7 year old complaining haha

Don't bypass El Morro!!! It's super cool!

  5. So many wonderful things to see in San Juan. This is one of my favorite ports. I love history and this port is steeped full of it. Be sure to go to the forts and the beautiful churches.

My Hubs thought I was nuts but I also enjoyed walking through the cemetery by the big fort.

Some of those graves are hundreds of years old. They are very ornate and the statues are amazing! OSJ is beautiful and the people are very friendly, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations from the locals.

We are headed back in about a month...I can't wait!

  6. I can help....when you get off the ship, at the end of the pier is a gaggle of taxis and tour operators. We have found that San Juan is very "user friendly" .Our first time there, we approached the tour guides and asked what they had to offer. We lucked out and found one for about $10 PP in an air conditioned van to drive us to all the major tourist areas. He was very knowledgeable.

We quickly learned of the free trolley system. If you are willing to walk a couple of blocks up from the pier, there is a trolley stop. It is free and goes all over the city including Old San Juan, and both the forts. OSJ is so beautiful that its worth getting out on foot and walking. There are plenty of vendors selling drinks and ice pops. We have found the best thing is to ask a local for recommendations of the best places to eat, get a snack or drink. They won't steer you wrong.

  7. Thanks all! I’m going to book it since it seems as if it is a pretty good deal and with a short cruise I’d hate to have everything booked up

Just warn her to be prepared for the upsale. They will put the hard press on her to buy their creams and lotions. This put me off the spa altogether. You are liable to spend more on items than you ever dreamed.

  8. I live about 7 miles from Galveston and no, fog shouldn't be an issue at that time of the year. Traffic yes...fog, no

If at all possible, fly in and out of Hobby airport. It is much closer to Galveston. IAH airport is on the north side of Houston and MUCH more expensive to get to Galveston.

Just a reminder.....LOTS of construction going on the freeway leading to Galveston. Traffic is bad! If you plan accordingly you should be fine.

  9. Not sure what ship you are sailing on but I found that the Solarium Bistro was a great choice for me. (gastric bypass). The portions are smaller, the food less dense and easier to eat. I found the food in the main dining room was too rich so I usually just ordered off the appetizer menu.

The specialty restaurants are tough if you have a tiny tummy. I haven't heard of them offering any discounts, but I suggest letting the waiter know about your surgery. Maybe they can suggest an entree that isn't so "filling". Plus, they become very concerned if you don't eat very much on your plate. My first cruise after my surgery proved that. After the 2nd night in the MDR, the head waiter came over and asked if the food was ok. I assured him it was wonderful, and explained my surgery. After that, it was fine.

Maybe you can split an entree with a friend? Sometimes the specialty restaurants will box up the other half of your entree to take back to your cabin. Doesn't hurt to ask...

And for the sarcastic person who thinks asking is ridiculous, get over yourself. It's not like she is asking for her meals to be made a certain way other than what is offered on the menu. And yes....I have found most restaurants are very accommodating to people who have had weight loss surgery.

  10. Good Morning America reported this morning that the state dept ordered its employees to stay away from this area. I read in a local news report that it is now considered Narco-Terrorism. They said it is more than ferry travel that is unsafe. They recommend avoiding the area altogether.
