    Good morning

I will be booking the South America/Antarctica 2026 cruise soon. Wodering whether to book the drinks package now or nearer the sailing date just in cas prices change?

    Thank you

Now. Two things. Prices are only likely to go up. You can always cancel,(if its a separate purchase,  not part of a package with wifi) and repurchase at the discounted price.

    Hi fellow cruisers.

I have only cruised on S-Class ships before. Usually booked a fixed seating time as there was only one MDR and I was happy to hang out with the same new people every night.

On Edge, there are four MDRs, right? Same food everywhere with the exception of a few signature dishes per each MDR theme. I guess that reduces the probability of meeting the same people every night because many people try different MDRs during one cruise.

So, in this context, does a fixed seating time make any sense at all? What are your experiences?

I assume you are asking in relation to the anytime dining option. My wife and I have been on numerous Edge cruises but we always have cruised with friends. With anytime dining you may go to any of the 4 restaurants at anytime and ask to be seated. They will give you a buzzer when your table is ready it goes off. You could go to the same restaurant every night and ask for the same waiter and they will try to accommodate you or you can make reservations at any restaurant ahead of time. Be aware that you can order any menu item from any of the four restaurants at any of the restaurants. So, if you want the Greek specialty at the Cosmo, they will bring it to you. (all 4 menus are on the  Celebrity App)

Sometimes, if you don't have a reservation you can just choose to go to the restaurant with the least people waiting.

We were on Scarlet in February for Superbowl this year. It was actually a great experience and I would totally do it again. They showed the game in the Social Club, on the screen (which has excellent resolution by the way) in the casino but best of all they showed it on a huge screen in the Red Room. My husband and I lucked out and got a couch on the second floor of the Red Room overlooking the room/display. Go early and get that spot! They were handing out popcorn and snacks etc. The atmosphere on the ship was really fun as everyone seemed to get into the game being on.

😊 Thanks for the excellent information 👍

THey have decent sized TVs in The Social Club, but no mega screen on the pool deck like you'll fin on some other lines.

Thanks. I guess my major concern would be about the number of people who would want to watch the game. Of course I have some of the same concern on the Oasis, but at least they have the large screens at the Aqua show area, assuming they have a Superbowl party which I would expect they would.

  5. I have been able to link 5 reservations except in one instance.  That instance is when one party used a different agent. I don't know if the class of booking matters too, since we have always been in the same class.

Here is what really disappoints me. Right now we have 8 people in 4 separate reservations linked. If we want to make, and pay for, a specialty dining reservation it wont use each individuals on file credit card or OBC. One person has to pay for all unless I sign on under each persons account and make each reservation separately and make four reservations for 2. I did this for an upcoming cruise for dinner on the Magic Carpet.  I figured I would link when I board.

The other issue that disappoints me is not being able to bid on cabin upgrades with another couple we travel with. If only one of us were to win our bid to upgrade to Agua or Suite, we couldn't dine together,  so we never bother trying.

That isn't the way the Edge works.  It wasn't a package just the 1 Edge dinner.  I believe they only offer it once a cruise.

Ok. Your talking abou dinner on the magic carpet.  I thought you meant the Celebrity Edge ship. In that case they put an invitation on your door the day of the dinner. We booked the chef's table and that's what they did for that.

  7. I assume you must have booked a dining package,  not an individual restaurant.  If so, as soon as you board call the restaurant reservation line and make the reservation you want at the time you want.

  8. I am never able to bid on any move up offers. Why? Because we travel with another couple and we are always in either of a veranda or a concierge cabin. In order to move up to aqua or a suite, we would have to know ahead of time that we were both going to win the same category or lose together, otherwise we would be unable to eat dinner together in blue or illumie, if one of us wins in the other one doesn't.  I have called Celebrity and asked if there was any way to have joint bids so we can either both win or both lose but obviously that is beyond their technical capabilities. That is unfortunate. We would bid otherwise.

  9. My upcoming 12 night cruise will be the first time I only have basic wifi and drink packages. Previously I always had the "indulge" premium package Elite and I have the pricing for a pre-cruise upgrade for both. The drink package is fairly easy to decide since I know we normally drink 3 martini's in the Martini bar a day that cost more than the upgrade cost.

The WiFi is more difficult to decide since I don't know if the basic package will be good enough for my usage of uploading to Facebook and checking emails and web browsing. I don't stream movies although I might watch some YouTube. My question is: Does anyone know how much they charge to upgrade the WiFi while on board? Is it pro-rated for how many days are left on the cruise?  The cost pre-cruise is $96 each. I also could just upgrade mine and not my wifes since she doesn't upload to Facebook.

    I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

  10. We made it! I didn't know if we would make it through this harrowing experience.  Here are some more pictfrom the last two days at sea. Our traveling companions wanted to make sure I added one more complaint.  They dont cut the cucumbers small enough on the salad bar. You must finish cutting them yourself.

Please pray 🙏 for us. We have to endurE another one of these. This time their taking us somewhere they don't speak proper English,  Iceland Ireland and England.

  11. Our last port day wa in St. Maarten. I'm not going to belabor discussion about the weather other than to say the Air Conditioning on our Celebrity sponsored tour was HORRIBLE! I could not fell it at all!

Also they put us in harms way when this plane almost landed on us!

Now we have two and 1/2 days when they keep us trapped on the ship. Wish me luck 🙏

  12. Well today was Antigua.  More of this unseasonably warm weather in the 80's. I had to once again put on sun tan lotion and wear a hat. What s pain. A mini bus took us all over the Island and the guide spoke to us with some kind of accent. Can't they find any Muricans to guide? 🤔  Anyway,  she spent most of the time educating us about Antigua and being humorous at the same time. I guess no one can be serious anymore 🙄.

After seeing a number of historic sites with questionable viewpoints we took a catamaran to a beach and had lunch. Once again the beach was sandy and the water cold. Comon Celebrity!

We watched a pianist before dinner in the cosmopolitan.  Don't get me started about the food and selections. Can you believe they only had a choice od 10 starters and 9 main courses? Unbelievable.

Oh well, St Maartenn here we come. Probably more hot weather. 😡

  13. Today we were in St. Lucia. We took a fricken 6 hour tour of the Island. Now understand,  this was a CELEBRITY tour. So, therefore they are responsible for everything that occurs.

First of all, we hit a traffic jam in downtown Castries. We were told that part of this was due to the Holland America Rotterdam being in port. Come on CELEBRITY,  how a out a little island exclusivity! 😕 I mean, can't they plan any better than this? Then we had to drive up these hairpin windee roads that kept going uphill. Couldn't they arrange for any better routes to the Pitons? We were forced to stop on the way up..to look at this waterfall and some people got wet!!!! Then they made us stop again to see this cocoa and coconut plantation.  Jeez, what next. Finally we get to the Pitons and they once again make us eat a creole lunch overlooking these so called "Pitons" tourist attraction.

Coming back to the ship they picked a route with more hairpin turns through the mountains...with hardly anything to see. Maybe I should have stayed on the ship.

☺️i,  production show with acrobatics and another dinner.

Well the good news news is only another 4 days of this nightmare to endure.  Im afraid to check tomorrow's schedule.

Love this post and replies! We’ll be on this cruise March 17th and can’t wait 😊

Could you please tell me which cruise nights are the chic nights? Trying to determine specialty dining reservations.

Thanks in advance! I hope things continue to disappoint in the same way😃 🍸🍸

On our cruise,  the first night at sea and the 9th (1st of the last two days at sea) were/will be, chic nights. I hope you have a strong backbone to endure all the hardships we have had to put up with when you go on your cruise.

I also suggest you look at the Celebrity App and check the Celebrity Signature Entree's each night of the cruise to help you decide. Lobster will be the second chic night.
