  1. I transferred my Summit 3/17 booking to a very very large TA located in Moultonboro NH. I had to go around and around with them. First OBC was $100.00, transferred the booking to TA. OBC changes to $75.00. Then I was informed there would be a $100.00 charge if we were to cancel the cruise. (We are not planning to do this.) Is this the new norm?

We are Elite on Celebrity, upper Diamond on RCL, and Platium on Carnival. You would think we were customers that they like to retain. Anyway I don't need anyones help. I just needed to vent. Thanks for "Listening".

Is this your 1st time using them?

  2. So sad, but not surprising - in my confirmation e-mail for my 2018 Celebrity Millennium cruise, the e-mail shows:

    Sail Date:

    Jan 07, 2018

    Returning:

    Jan 21, 2018

    Thank you for choosing

    Celebrity Cruises

We look forward to welcoming you on board.

    Ship Asia

    Celebrity Millenium®

With the trademark right next to the misspelled Millennium!!

Sorry to hear about your problem. I hope that's the worst thing that happens to you for this cruise.

  3. So last December we took the 14 day Caribbean cruise on the Eclipse (we take this cruise every year). As I recall that itinerary had 9 ports. DW and i have our favorite beaches on every island and normally just use public transit (or perhaps a taxi) to get to "our beach" which is normally chosen because there will be few (or any) other cruisers and often it is a beach from which we can snorkel. But the morning we reached our first island, DW was not feeling well so we decided to stay aboard. We had a fantastic day (DW perked-up by lunch) and enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to skip all the ports and just stay aboard for the entire 14 days. We did make a 30 min exception in St Maarten since we ran to one of the booze shops inside the port to pick-up some adult beverages.

What a joy being on an empty S-Class ship (there actually are a few others that also stayed aboard). We could choose any deck chair we pleased, it was quiet, no lines at the bar, the grill, etc. And for some wonderful reason they did not blast the usual music over the speakers so I could actually enjoy my own music :). Going on that same cruise next month and DW and I are again considering staying aboard in some or all ports.

    Hank

How were you able to get onboard past security with alcohol?

  4. I would be very cautious doing this on 1 airline - it violates Southwest Contract of Carriage, and you run the risk of the airline canceling one or both of your reservations.

"Multiple Reservations. Southwest prohibits multiple reservations for the same passenger departing from the same city on the same date. Furthermore, without notice to the passenger or purchaser, Southwest may cancel such reservations or any other reservations that it believes, in its sole discretion, were made without intent to travel"

Where on the SW site can I find this.

    Thank you

  5. If you have a later flt booked as a backup. On SW you can bank the 1st flt refund for 1yr for future use. Just cancel it if your to late to make it. The only problem is you trade relaxing on the ship for being stuck at airport all morning if miss 1st flt. I prefer waiting on the ship instead of getting home a few hours earlier.

  6. I checked the spread sheet on the sticky and had no luck finding info on cabin 6209. I'm trying to find out if its a larger balcony and if its deeper offering shade. Any other info about it would be appreciated.

  7. Need info on cabin #6209 on bump out. Couldn't find it on s class spread sheet. does it have a larger balcony? Is it noisier due to being above Bistro on five and lowest deck of the ship? How blocked is the view due to obstrutions?

  8. Our travel agent still has cabins in ov,bal. and aqua available. There probably cabins in there inventory. I saw them last week. I just checked now and they also have insides.

  9. We are presently on the Silhouette's transaltantic from Florida to Amsterdam in an Aqua cabin and are elite. This being our 40+ cruise, 12 with Celebrity and three more booked as well. So we do like the Celebrity product, but have seen a deterioration of "Modern Luxury" into that's what other lines do!

    Modern Luxury is NOT:

Having a beeper at Blu and always waiting - this is not the Cheese Cake Factory

Finding only three shrimp in a shrimp cocktail, or three thin slices of french toast as a serving, no longer the challah thick slice

Towels in Aqua that are frayed and thread bare, as well as towels at the pools that I'd be embarrassed for my grandchildren or guests to use at our pool

Staff not properly trained, hostess always frazzled and therefore, becoming rude to guests.

Under staffed in the bars especially during the two hours when elite guests have coupons for drinks and cannot get service. There was a time on transatlantic when there was a real Happy Hour every afternoon

is NOT eliminating 2 hours of Elite cocktail hour for 45 minutes of Captains Club in the theater at an inconvenient time

is not having guest relations have inconsistent and incorrect answers

is not promising the use of the relaxation room when you book Aqua, and then closing it mid afternoon for private yoga classes for non Aqua guests

That the Persian Garden has a wait or no access due to passes being sold to non Aqua guests instead of use for Aqua as advertised

Are you considering leaving Celebrity until they refit?

  10. There are 2 things that cruise staff hate - people who think that they are being cute by giving out $2 bills and those that give out Susan B. Anthony dollar coins. Many merchants in the US will not accept them. What do you think happens when the crew members try to get rid of them in a foreign country?Do you enjoy making life difficult for the hard working cruise staff?

    DON

I never thought it was cute to give two dollar bills. I did it for the two following reasons. I once heard they thought two dollar bills were lucky and to reward excellant service after I recieved it. On my last cruise a bartender explained how they really feel about them. They all felt they were lucky to get a two dollar bill instead of a one dollar bill.LOL

  11. In the very early 80's Lee Iacocca started a Chysler auto marketing idea. Buy a car get a check ( rebate check). The auto industry today still can't get away from it no matter how hard they try. The genie was out of the bottle. I think Celebrity will find it self in the same situation. Ncl looks like there going down that same road and maybe the rest will jump in if it fills ships.

  12. Photo copy front and back of credit cards. You then have all the numbers you need if lost or stolen. Copy of dr. Lic. And govt. issued I'd. You will need 1 to get on an airplane Copy of all medical cards and list of your meds. And most important passport. I keep 2 wallets that each have a credit card,I'd ect in them. One on my person the other kept safe in cabin or hotel safe. This way I always have a back up if need due to loss or theft. I hope this info helps someone.
