I was just answering all-afloaty's question as some people, like myself, like to book early to ensure the cabin and its nice to know, theoretically, if you are getting the best deal when you do book early. We go next week and that has been booked for over a year and the cabin type we like has not been available for the past five months, similarly our cruise in Feb next year is, if you add on the AI, still cheaper:rolleyes:
All that said we do intend to try late availability next year because you are correct that's a lot of drink to consume:p
We are booked for next year already thanks pensioncruiser [emoji3] like you we prefer to book early get our cabin airport and early flight time! I don't know how much our drink would cost during the course of 1 week but we definitely wouldn't go without the all-inclusive upgrade. We do love to enjoy ourselves [emoji12] Thanks for letting me know [emoji106]🏻

The cabin stewards are like magicians. They know when you have left your cabin because when you return, everything is done.
No, you don't need to request the turn down service, it is all part of their wonderful service.
lol we had the same thought process!
-
I've never need on a cruise before and I've heard people saying how good their cabin steward was and they seemed to know a lot about them- do you meet them and introduce yourselves or is it just by chance that they knew their cabin stewards name? Do they clean you room once a day? Do they just do the typical jobs that a hotel maid would do?
And if you pop in your cabin sit on the bed and then pop out again and pop back in they will have straightened the cover even if the whole procedure only took 30 seconds - they are like magicians lol. They also take your laundry and bring it back all nice and clean and pressed. They will remember your name instantly and always have a smile on their face. Turn down service just routine. They are wonderful [emoji3]

Thank you - but do you know what time we have to be off the boat as we will have all day before pick up?
You can stay on ship till they pick you up and you can use all the facilities including your all inclusive package if you have it [emoji3]

I was looking at booking the Dream Transatlantic from Manchester in April next year on Monday this week and was shocked to see only 3 seats left and the price for 2 with the extras required at £4646.50. We did this cruise last year for £3800
I looked again on Wednesday and there were no seats left from Manchester so looked at other airport prices and was absolutely disgusted to see that Newcastle was £4136.50, Birmingham was £3864.50 and unbelievably Gatwick was £3500.50 - £1100 cheaper!!!!! I could go on another cruise for that. I have noticed before that the Manchester flights are more expensive than other airports (not including Glasgow) and have flown from Leeds/Bradford a couple of times because it was cheaper, is this because so many Thomson cruisers live north of Birmingham and Manchester is so popular? If so we should take exception to subsidising other cruisers and I don't mean late bookers because that's a different issue. I hope Thomson do put on another flight from Manchester but even then I might consider a 5* hotel treat before and after the cruise at Gatwick and still have plenty of spending money.
We prefer to fly from Bristol because we live in Taunton but last year for our cruise we went from Gatwick because it was £200 EACH cheaper [emoji33]

We will certainly be trying this out. Very excited boarding passes printed:D
When do you go? Is it the Adriatic Explorer?
-
The buses from the port to the old town are #16 and 17
The old town is lovely, don't judge Corfu from the newer bit of the town you see on the way from the airport (scruffy!) the old town is lovely :)
Thanks Linda [emoji3] your valued information is always welcome [emoji106]🏻
-
It's not far at all - you could walk it in 30 - 40 minutes if you were so inclined but both times I've been there have been buses running from the port to the town, for something like 1.5 euro each way.
Once you've gone through the port building you start walking across the car park to the port gates, and there is a bus stop about half way across where the shuttles to town stop. Some seem to go to the Liston, some to the old town, I never worked out the difference but if you pick up a map onboard when you check in you'll be fine.
Thank you so much for info [emoji106]🏻

Thinking of booking Adriatic Explorer for next June. How far is the port from Corfu town? We would arrive at the ship quite early and were wondering if we'd have time to explore? Thanks in advance for any tips [emoji3]

Not getting much information from Thomson, told to contact the welfare line. My husband is allergic to feather pillows so trying to find out how difficult it is to get non allergic pillows. We have been told we may have to take our own as they have never been asked for non allergic pillows before.
Does anyone know if the pillows are feathered or not?
The pillows are definitely not feather as I'm allergic to them too [emoji106]🏻

I was disappointed in the programme - it's all about the tourists who have clearly been chosen because they are 'characters' so it becomes all about them rather than the style of holiday/destinations. I was hoping for something more informative.
I agree with you kruzseeka I think these travel show guides are all done for effect! Not really very informative [emoji107]🏻
-
Have I got this right, the only way to get something ironed on the Dream is to use the on board service, you can't do it yourself? Same for laundry?
Yes but the service is excellent, I've used it many times and it's very reasonable [emoji106]🏻
-
I am right in thinking that all cabins have these?
Yes every cabin has kettle etc.
-
Well spotted BAG,S where did you find Dream, i looked in the Pacific and the Indian ocean,s to no avail grumpy SAINT after yesterday 3 -0 THUMPING by Everton
And me grumpy because we lost to Leicester at home after beating Arsenal at the Emirates!

We've only ever done the transatlantics the other way around, sailing to the Caribbean in November/December, but they are great value as you have a block of 6 days at sea which doesn't suit everyone.
However, they put on a lot of extra entertainment, and on these cruises if you book early you get the drinks package thrown in for free, then after that offer has finished, they usually offer the drinks package for £10 per person per night which is still great value, until around 3 months before sailing. It makes the whole package price fantastic value.
They also normally visit some destinations that Thomson don't usually take in so it's nice to visit some ports off the beaten track so to speak.
S'oton Saint got the Discovery's plans spot on and will leave Europe on it's TA crossing on 29 October IIRC. Also looks like the Dream will be back in Montego Bay, again heading out there a month earlier than normal.
Thanks for all the information BaggersCruising we are still undecided but love hearing everyone's views etc. we have to decide by November as we want to book early [emoji4]
