  1. We love formal.nights! I take my two tuxes (classic black and tropical ivory) and DW is usually in a gown.

On our last cruise we were seated at a table for 12...... all the men wore tuxes, and the ladies at least cocktail dresses, with one or two.in gowns.

I would have loved to be at that table. It sounds like it would have made for a great photo

  2. OP, why not simply tell them RCI's suggested dress for formal nights and then discuss what your group will wear. As long as you all aim for the same level of dress, you shouldn't worry about what others choose to wear.

I tend to overdo it because that's just what I do. i don't expect everyone to wear the same thing though or be on the level of extravagance that I try to achieve.

  3. I know every cruise line is different as it relates to formal nights, but the last time I was on RCC (Oasis of the Seas) i didn't see another evening dress in the crowd other than my own. In fact, my companion at the time felt a bit overdressed for the night. I personally don't mind getting all decked out for the formal nights since I have not too many chances to play dress up, but I am conflicted on what I should tell the first time cruisers which are coming with me on Anthem of the Seas in December. This is especially true since I saw people in shorts and t-shirts during formal nights. What do you choose to wear during the formal nights? and what do you think I should tell them to bring since they want to participate in the formal nights?

  4. We sailed on the Quantum & Anthem and usually in early Feb. or late Jan. On both we had 9th deck cabins #9250 and did not feel that much of a difference between the lower decks or our deck. On our sail of the Anthem in Feb. '15 we hit some weather pattern on our way North and incurred waves up to 25 ft. The only problem, was the creaking of the ship especially by the elevators and also felt in our cabin. In one instance we were in the theatre and a felt a big bump from one of the waves. The ship survived (:D) after a day & a half of this.

Ps. We love the Quantum class so much that we are booked for a 12 niter in Jan. '18 in cabin 9650 on the opposite side. 9250 & 9650 are called "hump cabins" as they provide larger size balconies. Too bad DD is no longer available.

On next to the last day, the Captain & some senior officers held a Q&A in 2x70 and one of the questions was the creaking noise--his answer was to equate the newness of the Anthem to a new house settling.

Do you have any pics of the balcony angles from that room? Smh the creaking of a new house is still creepy, and the last time I want to hear that is in the middle of a storm.

  5. i'm sure the hubby didnt mind but his wife probably blocked his view lol. ive heard of stuff like that when ships are docked across from each other too. keep curtains closed etc. i make a bad American. i dont see what the big deal is about exposed skin.

so may i ask why you decided on deck 12? i'm still in a tad of agony over my deck 9 decision. sigh.

I am not sure if i can put up the link to the the article i read about the decks, but that along with the fact that the rest of my family is on the 8th deck which apparently is the prefered deck on the ship ( according to the article). I don't know if you remember in the roll call thread I mentioned that the agent told me that the i was too high on the ship, due to it being a winter sailing and the higher risk of rough seas. He said we would feel the roll more than any other part of the ship.

  6. you sure gain a lot of friends looking down the ship. we had an older guy next to us in december and my friend would run into him at 2am outside. we didnt have trouble on this trip but on my last trip i think people think the barriers mean you cannot hear people next door nor your voice travels over the wall.

I learned to put pants on when going to the balcony that way. I wanted to go out to the balcony during a sailaway, and it was right after i took a shower. I just threw on a sort of long, but not long enough shirt and stepped outside. When I looked to my left and there as a couple staring right back at me. Needless to say I made sure to put pants on ever since.

  7. I applaud your protective measures. We too take all these precautions and yet we find ourselves facing this dilemma. Again when the card "disappeared" with the clerk I should have been forceful and spoken up the second she started walking away. I post to help others who may find themselves in the same spot. Hind sight is always 20 / 20 I guess. Hope it never happens to you again.....miracles can happen

The best part about the entire situation is that everything can be recovered, and karma is a you know what. it may be frustrating now, but you will eventually get all of the money back. The only thing we can do is learn from it, improve upon it, and move on. Honestly for fear of my information getting stolen I try not to use cards as much, but the benefit of a card is that you won't lose the money if someone tries to copy that.

  8. The ONLY person / people who had any access to that card was the employees in T.I. store PERIOD. That particular card did not come out of the wallet and had a zero balance on the card. Not used in any public transaction. It is suspicious that the card leaves with the employee into a back room during the sale. There was no other time that card could have been compromised except in that store at that time in Grand Cayman.

There are so many methods of credit card theft these days. I had a fraud alert on my card while i was sitting at home. Someone tried to use my card at a supermarket in a city I have never shopped in before. The biggest issue was that this particular card was in my possession at the time of the fraud. The person used a skimmer to create a new card, but they couldn't charge the card fully because it was a debit and they didnt have a pin. That could have happened anywhere, because a skimmer can fit in a person's pocket. This is why I have rfid blockers on everything including my passport. Technology is annoying sometimes, and not knocking it, but it could have been that as well.

  9. I know its probably a very late response, but I honestly was too exhausted to frequent the club when I was there. The latest I stayed up was prob about 12 and I never step foot in their club. My ex did and he said it wasn't really active. Possibly because of their choice of DJ, the guy that was on our ship would play during the day and I could have done a better job ( i am not the best at mixing and blending). I did go to the comedy show once and karaoke another night, but It wasn't too crowded. In my opinion Oasis is geared more toward families and not necessarily for those with a party mentality.

  10. I can tell you that I booked myself, my family and my boyfriends family on the anthem in Dec, Online you cannot see any rooms on the 10th deck as they aren't available, but when you call in they have rooms available to give you. The same went for the rooms i was looking for for my boyfriends brother and mother. They were able to find two rooms ( 1 inside accessible, and one balcony) on the same floor 5 doors down from each other, but those options weren't available when I looked online for them. Granted I spent an hour and a half on the phone with them trying to get this done, but I got it done within the price range I wanted.

  11. If we do universal we are only interested in one park. Universal Studios

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Keep in mind that is the same park halloween horror nights is held. So there is a possibility that the park also may close early if they are hosting it that night. There will also be a ton of foot traffic as guest with halloween horror night passes are allowed to stay in certain areas of the park during the switchover.

  12. I can tell you that Universal takes a long time if you are doing more than one park without a fast pass. Most rides can have over 30 minute wait times. Not to mention you'll be riding the coattail of halloween horror night visitors. It is super packed during that time frame because of that ( trust me I was there last year for it). I stayed on site and left in the morning at 7 am for the early opening and still got stuck in lines. If you are getting into port at 12 I wouldnt even waste the money. The only time I would do it is if the boat was entering port early ( 6:00-7:00 am) as there is no traffic really in the mornings there, at least none that I noticed. it is just a suggestion though.
