We are Traditional diners and if we know we won't be there the next night we will let our table mates and wait staff know, but on our last cruise we decided to eat in the buffet one evening. I'm sorry, but I wasn't going to run to the dining room to let them know. We are prompt, so they knew after 5 minutes that we weren't coming. We did, however, apologize the next evening.

Thanks for the great review. I'll be on the Ruby in March. Can't wait to sail her again!

Yes, just go to the tender embarkation area (usually on deck 4), show your black card and then join the line. It does NOT mean that you can go to the head of the line...
In Maui this past October we were waiting to get off the ship when a woman (and her small group) came through waving her card asking us if we were Elite. When we all said no, she said "Elite get on first." There were a whole eight of us in line.

On the Star this past October, the flowers and fruit basket were removed the night before.

Just off the Star this morning, no delay at all.

Thanks dtb55,
Let us know about it all when you get back. We go in January. Are you going from LA or San Fran?
We're sailing from LA.

Just finished reading this thread and can't wait for our cruise to Hawaii next week. The fondue sounds amazing. I've never seen that on a cruise. I hope they have it on our cruise. Thanks for all the hard work putting this thread together.

While the Chef's Goodies are nothing special, we have always enjoyed the suites we've sailed in. I'm sure you will as well. The extra space is wonderful. Breakfast at Sabatinis is delightful. Being able to dine in your cabin is very convenient for early morning port days or evenings when you're very tired. If you're not elite, free laundry is so nice instead of having to use the laundromat. We spend a great deal of time in our cabin because it is a very comfortable place to be. We've always had great service.
Have a great voyage!
I agree with all of the above, but I also loved that when my husband took a nap I could pull the curtain and sit on the couch and read or watch tv.

I don't recall getting anything. Maybe we did get the candied almonds and they just weren't worth remembering.

All blue card members must salute you. However we must still grovel at the feet of any elite card holders. Other than that it’s like spilling coffee on a dark suit. You get a warm feeling but no one notices.
LOL! Love it!

Thanks for posting. We have window suites on our cruises to Hawaii on the Golden in April and to Canada/new England on the Caribbean in September. Can't wait!

Open toed shoes are allowed in the MDR. They are not allowed the the galley if you sign up for the Chef's Table.

Awesome photos and review. I'd love to be picked for the Chef's Table.

I retire in April after 27 years with the same company. I've been counting down for 2 years now. :). Taking the family on a Med cruise in September to celebrate.

We did the UST on the Star. Well worth the money. The laundry was fascinating and my favorite part of the tour. No refreshments on the bridge, although we were told we would, and the Captain showed up at the end for a photo and left. We got the robe, stationery, 6x 8 photos and an apron. No picture frame.
