I checked on Sprint website for San Juan and St. Thomas and the site said "No services" (or something like that) but asked me "do you want to enable roaming?" I did not.

I would assume that there should be coverage. I used my phone from SJ before and don't remember extra fees, but you never know with Sprint :confused:

I have been tracking Sprints 4G LTE for a while now in the Caribbean and just to make sure everyone else on Sprint can be at ease, San Juan was one of the earlier markets for 4G. There will be ZERO issues in San Juan or any of the US Virgin Islands and for the most part you will have very high speed data.

I did not read through this whole thread, but this caught my eye and again, just want to make sure Sprint users are at ease. In fact, all the coverage maps I see show all the coverage and Sprint is now one of the best providers by far in these territories. There should be no need to look for wifi at all in these stops, um, for the most part I say. If you are way over by the Annaburg Sugar Mill ruins in St John you will probably run into some roaming issues, or Point Udall on STX, but that's it. :)

LOL, and I have to admit hmg, I completely understand what you mean about "you never know what you will get with Sprint". Luckily it looks like they FINALLY are up to speed with everyone else in most areas. But rest assured, the US Caribbean territories now have some of the best coverage of all providers from Sprint.

Thanks for all the info pgh (coming from a Browns fan, lol)! I was so wrapped up in getting to Pinel and then the last month just let it drop figuring it was too much trouble and possibly not worth it. Gosh, now you have me plotting and planning again, I have less than 2 months to decide! :)

So I sent this reply to my DH this morning and explained the context. He replied with a hardy laugh and said if you two were ever on a ship together you should meet up. He LOVES the late night drunken reuben!!! And now that I know it comes in room service, I can walk him back to the room rather than keep him upright until we get to the deli and back to the room!!! Thanks for the info!!!

If you are looking for a guarantee do double check this in the morning. I happened to wake up in the middle of the night and silly me pulled it up and there were some MAJOR changes in the prices from 12:15 a.m. to 4:15 a.m. Like super major drops. Unfortunately for me nothing at all changed on my particular date :(

I'm sure others have additional thoughts, but I know if I want to use it instantly for say a cruise or excursions or the fun shops I do the e gift card. If I want to use it for my sign and sail account I get a physical gift card and use the kiosk :)

So is this just typical of most of the islands in this area with heavy rains? What I mean is, say I were to arrive on SXM in the end of January and there might have been zero rainy days in the month or maybe 1 short rain day early in the month then Great Bay would be more than fine by the time I arrive?

I just spoke with a friend who is a TA. He said it is going to be s big sale and will include summer sailing. He said it is as big or bigger then the 35 hour sale. Last thing he told me was if you can sale the rest of this year, do it! Said sailing will be dirt cheap.

I could be wrong but with the pic jetexpress posted it made it look current to the dealbuster thing or whatever it is going on now. I take it then it is not for guarantees only and I will be getting me some obcdc (onboard casino and drink cash) for my early saver??? :D Or should I not even bother waiting up for this??? :(

I just ordered 2 of the bon voyage cakes to be delivered to our cabin on embarkation. I received confirmation when ordering them on the website, and it shows in my bank account, but I have not yet received emails that it said they would send confirming the purchases, and under our bookings it is not showing any purchases other than our FTTF. Will the cakes show up under our booking? Normally emails for stuff like that show up immediately but not this time.

They won't show up under the booking, just a confirmation email. HOWEVER, it's funny you did not get one, because I placed an order about midnight last night for some fresh alcohol goodness, and I did NOT get the confirmation email either! I just did it about a week ago and instantly got the email and whenever I have done it in the past I instantly got the email.

Who knows, maybe they are really amping up for a big cyber Monday sale and their systems are all jacked up! :rolleyes:

Either way, I copied and pasted the confirmation number from the screen and did a print screen of that and emailed it to myself. I'm guessing either way we should be fine, but it is odd we both did not receive the confirmation email when we usually do, but then again that makes me think it's something screwed up with their system.

Yes Verizon. AT&T, and T-Mobile all work there just as in the US I have also understood they work in any other territories. In St Thomas I did not try but I do know people that say they have used their normal plan minutes and texting and had no additional charges. It is always a good idea to call your carrier and double check with them.

You forgot Sprint, and with their recent 4g upgrade they now have THE BEST service in the U.S. Territories, including St Thomas and St croix. :cool:

However, when I called in yesterday after not seeing the freebie, the lady on the phone said "just go ahead and purchase it and it will be on the card". Hmmmmm, carnival confusion! :D

Does anyone know how/when the bonus part is applied? I tried to buy $500 but didn't see anything about the $50 bonus.

I didn't read through all the posts yet, um, I'll go do that, lol, but I bought a $300 yesterday and see NOTHING about the additional $25 :(

The only thing I noticed in the confirmation email was that the gift card will be activated in 24 hours. I purchased at 11 a.m. yesterday so I'll check in a few hours to see if the additional $25 was applied.

In the meantime I'll read through the rest of this thread to see if anyone else had this problem :)

When someone says "the majority of the staff was rude" I automatically do not believe the poster. In ten cruises, I have NEVER, EVER, MET ONE RUDE EMPLOYEE ...no matter which cruise line I have been on.

I won't say you are lucky as I believe this should be the norm, but just an FYI that I am your normal happy go lucky drunk that is basically like a Zoloft pill factory I'm so happy! So anyway, on my first cruise, everyone was wonderful.............. except one person. Some big tall Russian dude delivering room service, WOW! First, I was trashed, and I'm talking like mega hungover trashed! Dude comes pounding on the door at like 6:30, I get up thinking it's the cruise police arresting me for something I did in my drunked stuper, but no, it's this big intimidating bro I can hardly understand that is very scary looking, much bigger than me that if I wasn't in bad shape the dude would have crushed me like an obliverated jelly bean, and he was just beyond assertive, like just a jerkoid! Just yelling and being so demanding as to sign this and sign that and take this and take that with super attitude. I was just like wth :confused: um, lemme go back and sleep this off a bit bro as I have no clue why you are here and I have zero recollection of leaving a room service card out!

Oh no, oh my! I'm rambling on way too much here! Long story short, big tall Russian dude if any of you ever see him. I noticed him a couple more times on the ship and he was the only one that NEVER smiled at all. Just a creep.

Ok, rant over, and I'm glad you never had to deal with this, but WOW, keep an eye out for this one! Glad I never had to deal with him as everyone else was fantasic and always happy and smiling! :)

I love both places but coming on a cruise ship I gotta give another vote to Sapphire. The main reason is just the extra time you could be spending on the beach. A second possible reason is for those going in the winter when the Xmas winds are high. I was staying at Sapphire in February and we went over to Trunk a couple of times and both times the trail was closed and there was almost no beach because of the waves/wind. So Trunk can be quite a disappointment in the winter. Sapphire was a little choppy on these days as well, but you were definitely able to snorkel, even beginners too as there is so much more at Sapphire in shallow areas. The windy days we went over to Trunk I went out a little bit but was quite intimidated to go around the trail and I'm a pretty decent swimmer.

I don't know, it's such a tough call because Trunk is and can be beautiful, still, to play it safe and know you will have a beautiful view and definitely see some creatures even if you have to stay close to shore because of conditions I would go with Sapphire.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the G&L cruisers are always on a different sailing right around the time you are going, but not on the same one you are doing? I realize it's still a bit early for this particular one, but I have not located anyone doing this one. I found others doing previous sailings, and one doing the sailing immediately after this one, but not the same one. I was just curious.

Ditto! Anyone want to go on the valor southern caribbean on January 18th, 2015 leaving out of San Juan? I like to hang out in the sports bar, casino, and I am one that likes the comedians with lots of gay jokes (that's long speak that I have a sense of humor!)

My tip - it is amazing how people change their behavior if you walk around constantly holding up your GoPro or video camera of choice and make it clear you are recording. Most of the time it is like in instant and easy attitude adjuster. And for the times that the attitude adjusting doesn't work for the people SUPER intoxicated, well, you have some precious youtube video that is guaranteed to average a thousand hits an hour if you use tags like "carnival ship, spaz, fight, drunk, walmart" and so on. Seriously, try it and watch how people change their behavior for the better! Works like a charm!
