  1. I just returned from the 4-night sailing on the Imagination yesterday, and received my post-cruise survey from Carnival. As we all know, they draw from completed surveys every month and give away one free cruise. Just for funsies, I was reading the fine print and came across this:

Drawing and Skill-Testing Question for Canadian Residents: If selected entrant is a Canadian resident, in order to win the Prize, the selected entrant must first correctly answer unaided a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question by telephone at a predetermined mutually agreeable time.

I'm sure there's a reason for this, but heck if I know what it is. Anyone know why the Canadian residents have to be good at math under pressure to win? :D

    ***:eek::confused::rolleyes::eek::confused::confused:

  2. Oh I remember now! It was my t-shirt! It has a fake master card logo on it and it says, "Sex with me" on one line, then the next it says "Priceless!". I got some funny looks, but again, they didn't kick me out. My hair was all over the place too and I know I had dried up chocholate from the covered strawberries packed all around my forehead and left cheek.

  3. Nothing special for brunch. Lots of shorts and t's. Dress is similar to Lido buffet.

Yeah, I would say this. I was completely and totally trashed and hungover and I can't even tell you what I wore, but I can say it wasn't good and they didn't kick me out.

  4. I'd just call them at the 1.99 for the few minutes. Just give up a drink each day and you aren't losing any money. Then just do the pay as you go minutes for the Internet. Just be aware of your time and odds are in 3 days you will only be on once or twice and you can do a ton in 10 minutes.

Two tips: 1 - Maybe I was lucky, but there are tons of posts how slow the Internet connection is. While it is not lightning fast, for me at least it was not near as slow as dial up. It worked "decent". 2- Log in for a few minutes to check emails and you can use many methods to hurry up and copy and paste anything you want to read into notepad or a Word doc or save for offline reading or whatever, then immediately disconnect. Read the emails, then type up any responses you may need in Word or whatever, reconnect to the Internet and paste everything, send it, and then disconnect from the sucker again. Bam, everything taken care of in about 10 minutes of usage.

Oh and when I said I did not think the Internet was horribly slow, that does not mean I would try to upload huge file sizes of pictures or videos! :D

  5.

OK, I realize I may have lost you on that tuna metaphor. No, I'm not drunk or crazy.:p Explanation: tuna used to be sold in 6-oz cans, now it's sold (all brands) in 5-oz cans that look alllllmost the same, so some people won't even notice this cutback. But the price of these 5-oz cans is actually higher than the old 6-oz cans. Recipes in my cookbooks are for 6-oz cans. I have been miffed about this and similar deceptive grocery cutbacks for a while now. Sorry to turn this post into a double rant.:o But I just think 5 Ounce Can of Tuna every time I think of Carnival, now.:(

This is great, have you been paying attention to things like potato chip bags and cereal boxes? It's crazy! Everything is shrinking but the cost is going up. Oh, except those cheap nasty beers I can get from my local convience store with the bars on the windows where I buy my scratch off tickets. Those things, gosh! They added an extra ounce and lowered the price! I can now get 25 ounces of the nastiest carbonated malt delicacy for 99 cents when it used to be a buck 29 for only 24 ounces. What's up with that???

  6. Great thread and much needed! Some good examples too! I understand it

can be difficult to get the right perspective and some probably don't know and don't care and are just shooting whatever, but I swear on a lot of vids it seems like they have their zoom set all the way up! Zoom out people! The sad thing is most of these videos get the most "hits" too.

Oh well, without starting a new topic the only other thing I got, and some will bash me for this, lol, but YouTube! Yes, it is the most popular, but gosh I wish more people knew about and used Vimeo!

    end rant :D

  7. You will have no problems. I got some before and all went fine, well, for the most part. I usually take one a day "just because" and I noticed about 4 weeks after I returned from my trip I started getting muscles all over in weird spots on my body. It was strange. I have a friend that did the same thing and he was fine other than purple pimples popping up on his finger tips, so I say go for it.

  8. It looks like you didn't catch the joke, Keith. Although you say you comment on other boards, such as the ESPN, it doesn't look like you're big on Engadget or Droid-Life.

And Jason, not to get off the San Juan subject, but what is working best now a days in your area? Is it ATT still? I will be down there in 5 weeks and it will help me on which phone I leave at home :D

  9. It looks like you didn't catch the joke, Keith. Although you say you comment on other boards, such as the ESPN, it doesn't look like you're big on Engadget or Droid-Life.

Almost forgot, I have new lingo to add to your signature for the spelling corrections. Can you add something about when referring to the USVI it is St John and not St Johns? They are a few hundred miles away from each other and it could greatly help some :D

  10. It looks like you didn't catch the joke, Keith. Although you say you comment on other boards, such as the ESPN, it doesn't look like you're big on Engadget or Droid-Life.

LOL, it was caught, but that joke is old and for the uninformed. Sprint has changed their ways, FINALLY.

    Big Hug,

    Me :D

  11. I'm bringing up an old thread but I just found this section and hopefully it helps someone.

All of this is pretty much what others have said so just confirming. The wrist strap is very difficult to capture smooth video. I like the head strap, but depending on your goggles it can be a strange fit and sometimes the angle looks "weird" but that's just my opinion. The GoPole! WHOOP, WHOOP! I use the reach because it extends from like 17 inches to about 50? I forget, but it can shrink down for packing in a laptop case and for snorkeling in shallow waters that is great, then when you have it extended all the way out it is totally awesome for "creatures" further away. I have some very cool shots of various fish and the like that normally didn't like you to get too close, but they did not mind the GoPole Reach getting close to them. Also, it is easy to adjust on the fly. For instance, I have had trouble getting a great push diving down with it fully extended, but when I shorten it up I can dive down pretty normally and have an extra 2 feet for closer shots. Plus my favorite, it's easy to flip the camera around on the fly for SELFIE SHOTS! :D

Ok, I'll stop ranting, but just another thumbs up for the GoPole, particularly the Reach version of it that extends. I also have and like the bobber and I can go on forever about how great that is and the many ways I have gotten awesome uses out of it but I will just shut up for now and say get both or one of the GoPole packages! Awesome stuff!

  12. Since when does Sprint have data?

Um, since they upgraded almost all of their towers to 4g. You might want to check out the website s4gru, I'm sure you will be quite surprised. Particularly check out the 4g coverage in all of Florida over all carriers, you will be VERY surprised for that one! I like keeping up with whats going on and the various tower upgrades as I occasionally travel and have ATT for personal and Sprint for work. All I am saying is Sprints spark network of towers is really making a push. When in Tampa and the Miami area recently the data speeds of Sprint were, I won't say "blew away", but were faster and more consistent than ATT's. More selfies for me to take and upload faster to the world! But seriously, I would keep up with the times and check out the new coverage services different carries offer. Wouldn't want to see you without fast data speeds!

  13. Holy cow! Cardio and not drinking alcohol must work! It's the time of the year when the midwest has all the yummy milkshakes out, even a pumpkin one I had 2 days ago lol, and I have been going off on them the last week. I thought for sure I would be up or at the best even. I'm down a full pound! Crazy!

And don't worry birthday people, I'd say you did way better than most and better than I would have done on my birthday week! :)

  14. Yup! You will be good to go! ATT or Sprint will give you excellent service! It's one reason I love the USVI on week or two land based vacations, you know, so not only can I call and text back to the mainland whenever, but mostly FOR TAKING SELFIES AND POSTING THEM ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND OFTEN AS I WANT! This is great in the winter months, you got a lot of "I HATE U" comments :D

Seriously though they work great! This next tip is more for land based vacations and that is the only possible trouble you might have is way on the far east side of St Croix there might be no service. Oh and on a cruise tour if you happen to stray way east on St John, say past Maho Beach, I heard rumors ATT might try to pick up the BVI towers therefore charging you a ton should you use it. However I have been to Annaberg Ruins and did not see this at all, the phones just have zero service (both ATT and Sprint).

Ok, getting way off subject here as usual! Yes, you will be fine and take and post as many selfie pics as you can! WHOOP WHOOP!

  15. I know, I know, another Early Saver question, but I haven't had enough coffee yet. Hey, at least I honestly did try to search a little bit!

If you you booked early saver do you get the price drops of super saver? I already did the pick your own cabin and the super saver has it where they pick your own cabin so I was guessing this fare is not eligible for the price drop? Or maybe you can do it but they will switch it to where they pick your cabin so I will lose my cabin assignment I already picked? Just curious how that works for a price drop when you already picked your own cabin number for a fare where they pick your cabin.

And yes, before you flame, I'm sure this was probably just asked 46 seconds ago so my disclaimer is I'm still to tired to search just yet

    Thanks!

  16. Which pictures are you referring to? (It can't be the aerial picture lol, that was taken off of the internet. We obviously did not hop in a plane from here. hehe :D)

All of the others (the 3 that I posted in that thread) were taken from the ground floor of the deck facing the ocean (instead of the lagoon area). :p

The very first picture shows the deck I was standing on. You can see the pole to the hut/palapa, then if you look at the 3rd picture, on the very right (almost cut off of the picture) you'll see that pole still. It's all a matter of perspective.

LOL, my bad! I should have read the caption! Yes, it is the aerial pic, but either way it is wonderful and brings back memories! I guess I feel slightly better knowing I did not miss the chance at this shot while sailing away ;)

  17. And thanks for the pic of the island from August 29th mitsugirly that looks like you were up on a higher deck sailing away! I never thought about one like that when we left and I love it!

  18. Hoping to book a trip here during our cruise in November. We will be the only ship there so from what I'm reading it shouldn't be too busy?

Excited to see this beautiful place!

For anyone who has not booked through Carnival: What time frames were you looking at? We are there from 8-3pm and I'm wondering if there's going to be a sufficient amount of time to visit LFK or if I should just wait until we visit another time?

    Thanks!!

Hi, first sorry to hear about adamt's experience. Mine was WONDERFUL!

Anyway, I was on a 8 to 3 stop as well and booked on our own and we had plenty of time. This was right around when carnival started offering the tour I believe and we were the first ones there :D Also, it was around 1:30ish when we saw people heading back so that is when we left. All groups whether booked with the ship or not left at the same time so it was pretty obvious. The ride back was quick and we even could take our time looking around the shops on the walking part back to the ship.

Oh and we felt like there was plenty of time there! Yes, of course most that love it would want to stay longer, but we never felt in a rush or like we didn't do enough.

  19. I don't want to bend the rule so I just want to make sure before I go in. Will my stonewash jorts be allowed? While I did cut them myself so they have a little bit of the dangling strings going on, they are more of a whitish fade but you can clearly make out the shade of white. I personally don't think they look that bad.

Oh, I did cut the original jeans about 10 to 12 inches above the knee so not sure if that matters. They are Guess brand from 1993 so vintage but stylish.

    Thanks!

  20. Here is my experience; Getting on the ship the allowable wine and the mini bottles made it through. One of the "mini" bottles was 200ml. Then at each port if they had mini bottles or 200 ml bottles of something I would pick up a few and all made it through getting back on the ship no problems. Pick up a hot sauce bottle or something as well. This is just my opinion but whatever they see in the xray machine when getting back on at port it seemed to me if they were under a certain size they got through. They were stopping others with the bigger bottles, so it was obvious to me if it was under a certain size it was probably not worth the hassle to check someone as it might turn out to be some sort of sauce or something. Then I think it was Roatan where they had nothing but bigger bottles. I tried those and my bags were immediately stopped. A quick story on that is it all happened so fast that when I got to the guy that was checking the bottles to give back to you the last night I only had to give him one and hid the other :D

Oh, and as for the mini bottles and 200 ml bottles, yes, I think it was Grand Cayman but that was my first cruise stop ever and I'm coming back on the ship with some "goodies" so I'm kind of freaking out and the 200 ml was just in a brown paper bag and I put it in my bag and then saw others with the big bottles get called out of line and I pulled it out of the bag and then the line went too quick so I just had to throw the paper bag on the belt and the PLASTIC bottle was hanging out half way and it just went right through! Sorry for the run on sentence, lol, but it was quite an experience for me. Also I totally forgot to note! PLASTIC seems to be key as well! I know it's harder to find in the bigger bottles, but in the mini and 200 mls you can find many varieties :D
