We are currently booked on a 2023 HAL cruise RT out of San Diego. Upon disembarkation, on the same date, we want to embark on a different HAL ship for a panama canal full transit. We have not yet booked the second cruise because currently the logistics of getting the required Covid testing for the PC cruise is problematic. My TA contacted HAL and testing on board for this purpose is not an option (currently). I am hoping that the testing requirements changes , but in the meantime we will have to look at flexible air flight pricing. Has anyone ever done something like this and found another way to test while still on the ship?

Question regarding pricing of gifts and indulgences: I am looking at the pricing of different items for our upcoming cruise. In general, will the pricing be the same as offered on my booking if I wait to purchase on board , ie internet, wine packages, etc? Also, I wish to purchase items using gift cards...if I choose to make pre sail purchases, can I call HAL and use my gift cards for those items or will I have to use a CC? Thank you

We saved $650 on the price of our upcoming cruise by buying the gift cards in advance. That is one airfare. worth it to us.

I am wondering how the wine packages work. When you buy a wine package pre cruise, and I assume you choose the wines when you on board...how does that work? Do you retrieve the wines somewhere onboard ? You keep what you want in your stateroom (?)and bring one to the dining room, which I know I can leave with them and they will keep it. thanks

We are thinking about purchasing the HAI package on our January cruise. The only shore excursions that are of interest to us are all sold out. Will HAL allow us to use the excursion $ for something else?

Yeah, that seems like one draw back...however, if you are cancelling for a covered reason with travel insurance, would you not receive cash back from the insurance company? Afterall, they wont know that you paid with gift cards.

I expected it to come a lot sooner than it did. After 2 hours I called AARP and they expedited the process...took about 24 hours.
