Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I have googled and searched the ports forum, but everything I find says 'take the ferry.' No, I ruled out Cinque Terre that time of year, because I read that several shops/restaurants are closed. That's going to have to be another trip.
  2. Our ship docks in Genoa in November. In doing some research, I believe the closest station to the pier is the Genova Piazza Principe. There is a train that goes to SML directly, so that's not a problem. But, we'd like to go to Portofino or possibly other nearby towns, however the ferry is not running that time of year. Walking is not an option, so are there taxis around or what would be our best option to get from place to place?
  3. Thank you for the detailed info! I wasn't sure if the guides were more of a seasonal perk or not. Is the same true of Herculaneum? There has been some discussion in our group that we pick one vs going to both in one day.
  4. Hey everyone! We are headed out to the Med on NCL Prima, Nov 1. Anyways...we had planned a private tour to Pompeii and Herculaneum. How realistic is it for us to be able to meet our guide in front of Starhotels Terminus, right near the train station at 9:45am? We are in portt 8:30-7pm, . Are there cabs/busses near the port? Will we be able to get off the ship early enough? Or should we just take the train to Pompeii on our own and hope they have guides there? Being November, it seems like we don't need to skip the line tix, but I'm not sure of timing/schedules and can't seem to find anything definitive. Would love to pack more into the day, but have to watch the clock. Cruise line shore excursions seem to be a bit meh. Half of it seems fine and then the other seems to just killing time. Thanks!
  5. Thank you! I had no idea! Will pop over there now!
  6. I REALLY need to correct my statement above (husband reminded me), but can't now. Those who had a drink package were served drinks. Anyone who did not, could not purchase one.
  7. Sailing on the Getaway out of Southampton. Where is the cruise terminal? Trying to plan the best route from London. A Google search comes up with Ocean Cruise Terminal, but their schedule doesn't show any NCL ships. Thanks!
  8. On the Gem in July 2022, we had three Greek ports. All three were dry, with signage posted. I learned about it on these boards, so.we weren't shocked during our trip. Heading to the Getaway in Aug 2023 and we have three ports in Spain. Having to pay taxes will be an annoyance, but it is what it is.
  9. Since Italy has dropped the COVID testing requirements, do we still need to test prior to boarding our NCL cruise in Trieste? I'm getting conflicting responses! This is from the NCL site: Do I need to take a COVID-19 test prior to arrival at the terminal? Unless otherwise stipulated by local regulations (Cruise Travel Requirements by Country) that would supersede our policy, at time of check-in: All guests above the age of 2 will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen or NAAT test (I.e. PCR) result administered by a verified third party or via medically supervised home test: Within 2 days prior to embarkation date for cruises departing from a U.S. port Within 3 days prior to embarkation date for cruises departing from a non-U.S. port If embarking from a Canadian port, antigen test is required within 2 days prior to embarkation date, or 3 days prior for NAAT test (I.e. PCR) Guests must bring digital or printed proof of negative test results.
