  1. We too are on the Nov 24 sailing. I can speak from experience as we were on the Rotterdam in March this year. We were unable to make any dining reservations during the whole cruise. We went to dining room upon boarding to try and schedule a time for that night. We were told no reservations, you just show up. But when we showed up and requested a table we were told that in would be 45 minutes or longer. We tried multiple different times during the cruise staggering our arrival times. Knowing this we booked early dining on upcoming cruise. Really too early for me but the late dining time would not work for us as medically I can not eat that late.
  2. My husbands carries his handheld on just about every cruise. We have had no issues with Princess and on RCCL once the Chief Radio Officer took it to get cleared by captain. As for an antenna…Well it is a lovely wire antenna of sorts that he loops through the balcony doors and around the balcony. Not great looking but who am I to complain….I am on a ship. He has not used radio to transmit but for monitoring bands and repeaters. We also have a list of ship’s frequencies that he programed to monitor ship’s activity. Now that is fun to listen too when there are late passengers and they are looking for them 🤣🤣🤣. Although it seems like some of the frequencies have been locked down or changes.
  3. We boarded on a Saturday and moved it to Wednesday. To be honest, she huffed and puffed about it. Stating she didn’t know if she could do it. Made it sound like a hassle. In actuality she made one phone call which took less than five minutes and it was done. Other than a cup of tea one morning we never used the lounge. But definitely plan on utilizing it more on an upcoming cruise. I
  4. We were able to change first night specialty restaurant dinner to another night. We just asked the concierge in suite lounge to arrange for us.
  5. Daughter and Grandson found ducks on March 4 cruise on Sky Princess. They both hid them again.
  6. I have a medicare advantage plan and recently went through the filing of a claim. I fell outside the terminal in San Juan on March 7. Lots of Princess staff there who immediately insisted I be seen in medical center. Leg looked a lot worse than it actually was but at the time it was hard to assess due to blood. Bill was $118 for cleaning of wound, abx ointment and dressings. Filed claim with insurance company on March 13. Received check for $23 on March 23 as I had a $95 deductible as I was out of network. Filed with AON on April 5 and they are covering the remaining $95 (check coming in 3-7 business days). I was very surprised that advantage plan covered anything but it may be due to being in San Juan and not another port. But also very surprised at speed that both insurance companies processed claim so quickly.
  7. Thanks everyone. Exactly what I wanted to know
  8. Does anyone know how Princess calculates the cost of their trip insurance that they offer. I know it is 8% of cruise fare but is it cabin fare or fare including cabin, taxes and port fees? TIA
  9. I just got off the Sky on March 11th. We ate. in the Crown Grill and Sabatinis. I had no issues at all. In Crown Grill I had French Onion Soup (made with GF bread) , Rib Eye, mashed potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms and dessert ( can’t remember what exactly). It was very good and I had no issues. Sabatinis was fantastic. They really went out of their way. I had soup, fried shrimp and calamari appetizer, fettuccine carbonara, osso bucco with risotto, and a vanilla compote with blueberries. Couldn’t finish meal there. Did not have an issue there either. I wish I could have the arracini rice balls but not GF. I would not hesitate going to either restaurant again.
  10. Just off Sky on Saturday. Be aware USB ports in lamps are very slow at charging. It took almost 24 hours to charge my I Pad. Phone took about 12 hours. Both were new at Christmas so it is not like they were older with lower battery life. I will also say that since I forgot my charging block for I Pad (and new I Pads use C connectors) I was using a brand new cord purchased in San Juan so that was not the issue. My husband’s I Pad and phone are older but took the same amount of time or even longer to charge. Just for anyone who forgot cables/chargers. There is a Walgreens just a short walk from terminal in San Juan which had a large selection to choose from. And there were many people purchasing so I wasn’t they only one who forgot theirs.
  11. Thank you both so much for information
  12. We are booked on our first HA cruise in a week. I wonder if the cabins have adjustable reading lights or are they built into the ceiling? Just trying to eliminate packing them (I like to read and hubby likes to sleep). Also are there USB ports for recharging our I pads and phones? Just off Sky Princess this AM and while USB ports were in the lamp bases they didn’t work well. Took almost 24 hours to charge my I Pad which is brand new at Christmas. Guess I am wondering about bring charging block. Thanks in advance for any info that can be given me regarding Rotterdam cabins (we are on deck 7 aft). Chris
  13. Or if you are gluten free. All seem to have some kind of baked good included.
  14. I thought they got rid of health questionnaire?
  15. Following as I too must have GF foods. This will be our first cruise with HAL. We are on the Rotterdam. I have good luck with Princess Not so much with RCCL. I did hear that HAL had a better selection of breads and rolls than the ever present GF toast on Princess which is served every meal. I usually take my own rolls and bread on board with me but maybe I won’t have to do that on the Rotterdan.
  16. Can you tell me what ship you were on? My husband is a Ham and anything radio related would definitely appeal to him.
  17. Just received notification this AM that bid accepted. We are 23 days from sailing.
  18. I am also interested in wind issues. DH likes a nice cigar now and then but has concerns regarding wind and being outdoors. He has a couple of expensive cigars he has been saving but doesn’t want wind to make them burn faster before he can enjoy them.
  19. Not sure what ship you are on but in June we were on the Caribbean Princess and Marco went out of his way to make sure I had what I wanted. It had been years since I had fried calamari but he had it made GF for me. Also had seafood pasta made GF. My only disappointment was dessert was not memorable nor was the bread. Bread being typical of Princess with same old toasted GF bread every meal. I bring my own rolls but we dines at Sabitinis on the last night and I was out of rolls.
  20. I did something similar but it was on RCCL. I took my children and was able to prepay tips before cruising. That way anything on their account was their personal purchases.
  21. I was on a RCCL cruise to Alaska when I lost my front cap. It was not a simple re-glue situation as I had snapped off the post that held the cap. The medical center did have a repair kit that they charged $5 for but as post was snapped it did not work. The next day was visiting glaciers so not port. Next port was Skagway. The night before I received a message from medical center that they had made a dental appointment for me at one of the few dentists in town and where I should meet transportation in AM. They had actually made transportation arrangements for me also. Long story short….dentist did not have equipment to repair tooth but was able to bond cap to adjacent teeth. We spent a week in Las Vegas after cruise and with care bonding lasted until we arrived home. I hope I never have to experience this again but was grateful for the care received by ship
  22. When ordering eggs Benedict order sauce on the side. That way you get fresh and not a dish that has been sitting under warming lights.
  23. This is the same as I have experienced. I always take my own rolls and cookies when we cruise. The same old bread toasted every meal gets old.
  24. You need to order sauce on the side. They then give you a small dish which is liquid and hasn’t been sitting under warming lights.
