  1. We are sailing over Palm Sunday, Good Friday & Easter - will there be any worship services provided for Easter? Many years ago when we traveled over Easter there was a beautiful service attended by passengers and crew - I think it was the ships Chaplin but I don't think they have those any longer.

  2. Got it. Was briefly confused. I do precisely what the cruise line suggests and I now am dumbing down the line. Or should go to the buffet. Or are lowering the standards. Or representing a "sad testement to our society." Or ruining their fantasy.

Check my posts. I am ALWAYS respectful of those who want to play the dress-up game. Knock yourself out. Dress as formally as you wish, absolutely no problem. That is the beauty of the new code. Unfortunately, the pendulum doesn't swing the same way. I wear a golf shirt and slacks and the world is ending.

    And I am ranting. Contact.

Can I just ask a question? You say you are ALWAYS respectful but then you get rather passive aggressive, maybe snarky at best, with the "fantasy" and "play dress-up" verbiage. Could you explain how that is respectful because it sounds like you are baiting people IMHO.

  3. I also took the email to mean the - the future is NOW! That they've pushed the boundaries of what the norm of today is.

I always find these kinds of statements over blown. Modern Luxury =ed cost cutting, chic night (n) and political advertising. Be Prepared to Leave the Future Behind ...... I'll wait and see.

  4. For the love of your clothes - do NOT send them to the laundry. I've tried multiple times to ask for cold wash and low heat and they do not do it. Things come back shrunk, gray, wrinkled.

Once in a suite the Butler surprised us by having all our laundry compted. Took every bra even - and they were ruined. (I loved that Butler and never told him as he was so proud of himself).

Pack extra and use the money for extra luggage. P.S. The dry cleaning is fine.

  5. We once saw saving theater seats taken to a whole new level. Solstice was new and we sailed from Ft Lauderdale over New Years - multiple groups of VERY LARGE familys - I'm talking twenty and thirty people.

You would walk into the theater and they would have multiple rows saved - people were getting into verbal confrontations and we were disgusted by the entire thing. It was very rude.

We sat in the back - so we could make a quick escape if we didn't like the show but if I had no place else to sit - I'd have no trouble sitting down and telling them the no saving rule. One or two spots - ok - 20 spots no!

This behavior and others (trying to bring their small children into the adult solarium to use the pool) was what made us decide to never ever again cruise during a school holiday.

  6. First time in a suite since the Suite Perks and I have a couple of questions. In addition to the the Cabin Steward, Butler, Assist. Waiter, Waiter, Sommelier, Michael's Club Bar Staff - what is the consensus on tipping the Suite Concierge (Michael's Hostess) and the Maitre D in Luminae?

We have pretty much stopped additional tipping to the Maritre Ds as we have little contact and no special requests - but Luminae is a smaller venue so it it the norm/expected and what is appropriate for standard service? Also doubt that we will be high maintenance for the concierge, but will be asking her/him to deliver some invites to a cocktail party we are hosting so of course will plan to tip her - not sure what is considered appropriate for a 15 night cruise?

I've read that people sometimes tip the Captains Club Host - this is our first cruise as Elite and we do want to try to hit the evening cocktail party a few times - although will mostly use Michael's as they have things scheduled during that time. I would assume that if we have no special requests of the Host - that there is no need for tipping?

Lastly - I love DIET tonic water - does anyone know if this is generally available - last cruise it was not. Is this a request that I could make with the Shoreside Concierge prior to cruising or could I bring some on myself?

  7. How often do you change them at home? It's not like anyone else has slept in them.

Perhaps you didn't read my post where I said there was no need to discuss the "why". I'm only asking for facts - not discussing my personal habits in my home.

Thanks CHEZMARYLOU, that was helpful. We are in a CS and would hope this wouldn't be a huge request.

  8. People really should not judge others by their outward appearance - and I'm guilty, I've done it too - most of us have -- until we are the judged.

To look at me I appear to be a reasonably healthy 59 yr old -- but I was born with a bicuspid aortic heart valve - a congenital heart defect. I'm lucky this ol valve has hung in there this long - but things are changing and in the future I'll have a bovine or porcine valve. Until the insurance says I'm ready, my abilities will continue to decline - I try to stay active and take the stairs but there are times when I am too fatigued. Would you judge me - I hope not. So just because you cannot see a condition or disability - please don't judge.

  9. This has been discussed before - so no need to explain or defend myself on the why -- but with current cutbacks - I would like to know on a 16 night cruise how many times I might expect the sheets to be changed? Our 7 night cruise last year - I do not think they were changed at all. :(

Is a request to have them changed every 2 or 3 days (with an appropriate tip) out of line?

  10. My first cruise (not Celebrity) was with my then 15 yr old daughter and myself. We didn't realize you could request a table change at dinner and each evening we had the most uncomfortable meal. A family, Grandmother, Mom & Dad and 13 yr old daughter. Only the 13 yr old spoke english and what made it uncomfortable was her dress - she looked like a "working girl". Being from the mid-west - I had a lot of explaining to do to my daughter.

Short cruise (on Celebrity), we are in the Martini Bar - a very drunk couple is fighting and the guy decided to leave. Makes it to the wall and slides down to the floor, crawls up the wall - takes a couple of steps and slides down again. Did this till out of sight.

Sailing into San Juan - sounds like a domestic fight in the cabin next door, furniture hitting the walls, screaming. Young man goes out to the balcony and is threatening to kill himself by throwing himself over the side. Seems he got confined to his cabin for complaining about a tummy ache. Took forever for security to arrive.

Rough seas plus a dance floor and a guy wearing a kilt. I now know what they wear under there - nothing. :o

  11. Happy 25th Wedding Anniversary! We too will be celebrating, only our 23rd this Valentine's Day. :)

We cruised over our 20th and one thing my DH did was to order me a very beautiful wrist corsage from the ships florist. They no longer have a tiny florist shop on board but they do still offer the service. I would check at guest services in advance on how to order.

  12. I'm trying to find out if Celebrity Infinity on the Miami to San Diego - Panama Canal cruise will be docking in Colon on April 6th at the Colon 2000 Cruise Port or the Colon Home Port.

My tour guide is giving me two different instructions on how to find him depending on the docking location. When I talk to Captain's Club they are saying that they are one and the same. I'd like a better understanding as I have 12 people traveling on this tour.

Can anyone tell me a website where I might check this? The location of a port map? Or if you have recently docked in Colon what was the situation.

Also does anyone know if Verizon has an international package that would cover Panama?

    Thank you.

  13. Yes the rules changed and now children are allowed in the specialty restaurants - but I would kindly ask parents to consider their fellow diners and no I'm not a child hater.

We had a lovely dinner ruined by parents that had NO concern for the rest of the restaurant. Their toddler was so loud with the continuing throwing of a toy to the floor. CLANG, CLANG, CLANG. Mom and dad ignored the child save from repeatedly bending down to retrieve the toy to hand back to the child who then threw it back down CLANG.

We've seen children who cannot sit for that period of time, up and running around. Really rude behavior.

So while you can take your under 12 child into Murano - should you? Not if they can't stay seated and be reasonably quiet.

  14. You let them know if you are flying first class and have no charge for bags. We fly Delta and we used it many times in the past. I believe Delta retagged them at the airport because they arrived at our destination wit priority tags on them.

Thanks for the info! This sounds amazing and for the price - I'm in!!!!!

  15. You pay the luggage Valet fee plus any airline baggage fees. You put your luggage outside your room on the last night of the cruise with specially provided luggage tags. You receive your ailine boarding pass on board ship. You leave the ship with your carry on luggage and go through immigration and customs (much quicker) and go to the airport. You go directly to the airport security checkpoint since you have already been checked in. You see your luggage again at your home airport [emoji4]

Wow that sounds great but I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

We are flying from San Diego to Ft Myers in First Class on Delta. We used FF points for those tickets and it allows us 2 Free Bags each. How do they know (Luggage Valet or Delta) - to not charge us outside of the $25.00? Don't want to insult anyone but sometimes Delta isn't on top of things.

Also we have a tight connection in Atlanta (thanks to Delta changing the schedule) - normally our bags being in First Class would be tagged "Priority". We gives us a little peace of mind - will Luggage Valet make sure that happens?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  16. Can someone explain the details of Luggage Valet?

For instance we are cruising in April from Florida (we drive to port) to San Diego. We will fly back to Florida. So for $25.00 a piece of luggage - I set my luggage out on the last night of the cruise and they take care of getting it to Delta at the airport? Does this enable us to walk through Customs without it? I'm not sure I get the concept?

  17. We are too young for medicare and are covered under a private Florida Blue policy -- which does not provide coverage out of the U.S.

We did purchase a standard trip policy through Steve but the health insurance amounts seem small to us in the case of anything catastrophic. I've heard of Geo Blue - a brand of Blue Cross for coverage outside the U.S. and we could get a $0 deductible 1 Million dollar policy for about $175.

Anyone have experience in this matter? Should we just settle for what was included in our regular trip insurance?

Should we also consider a med jet policy? P.S. We will be cruising through Panama, so Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico. Places where medical services may not be to our liking?

  18. I haven't been invited to one "extra" event since becoming elite plus.

(e.g. helipad sail away, bridge tour)

I should make Zenith around 2057. Maybe that will get us better service.

2057 sounds about right for us. I'll be 100 years old and will pack my Chic Night Depends.
