Magnums for cocktails...Old Fashioned and Manhattans... such a great bar since the refurbishment. Henry's is great for trivia.

Hubs will be indulginging in the Old Fashioned this evening before dinner.

Go to Henry’s Pub to have Froilan make a Matador.  It does get crowded

I also like the San Remo at Onda as it tastes similar to a Matador.

    Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the recommendation of the Matador.  Can't wait to try it.

  2. Asking for someone who has never cruised before - does the ArriveCanada and negative Covid test requirement for a RT from Seattle stand if the cruisers don't plan on getting off in Victoria?

I have told my friend that he needs to have a negative Covid test and to do the ArriveCan app.  His "knows everything" daughter says they don't because they are not getting off the ship in Victoria.

    What do you all think?

Called today to check on a 2021 TA with Royal.  Before I got to speak with an agent listened to a recorded message that said Royal Caribbean has cancelled all sailings thru November 31.

    Hmmmm. 😄

30 days hath September, April, June and November. . . .  Okay, then.  LOL

They will reduce the lounge chairs and space them 6 ft apart.  This will lead to a whole new breed of super chair hogs!😀

Should lead to interesting reading on the boards.  🤣

It has? Do you actually believe the numbers they're reporting? The country responsible for the virus with 1.5 billion people has reported less than 5,000 cases in the past 7 months, and only 20 cases yesterday. If you believe any of these numbers coming out of China well i've got some oceanfront land to sell you in Nebraska.

Thank you!  Heck no, I don't believe their numbers.  Hope you get lots of offers on your oceanfront!

To be safe book your Air via Celebrity Air where you pay nothing until final payment.  About 3 months before sailing make your decision to go or cancel and you loose nothing.  You get back your deposit and have been charged ZERO for airfare

I would but I have airline credits for the cruise that we missed in May 2020.  But, I like that idea for my July cruise.

There's also the issue of whether Alaska (and Canada) will be open to cruise lines.  Last I checked Alaska required tourists to test negative prior to visit and still be quarantined upon arrival..

That in itself would be enough to cancel the Alaskan cruise season.

After reading many threads here over the last few months, I have no doubt that many will choose to "opt out"..for various reasons...and that's a good thing for those of us ready to cruise.

I too wonder will they "zero out" the ships and start accepting new bookings under the new protocols....I am booked on The Edge March 21, 2020 and am hoping I will still be able to keep my SV cabin...scored a good deal with lots of OBC.

I hadn't thought about that scenario.  To "zero out" a ship might be a good way to get the right percentages of cabins across the board.  By eliminating, say all interiors you aren't necessarily keeping cabins and their occupants apart.  Financially, I don't know if it would be smart to "zero out" a ship after final payment and hope that you will get enough people to rebook.

Remember, many people aren't going to cruise for months for various reasons:

    - Fear of virus

    - Fear of quarantines on ships

    - Masks

    - Restrictions in ports

    - Limited ports

    - Restrictions in ships facilities and activities

    - Fear of air travel

    etc etc etc

Us for example.  We don't fear the virus or air travel, but have no interest in masking up for a restrictive cruise vacation.  We've cancelled/moved all our 2021 cruises and made other plans.

After filtering out all the people who won't cruise for a while for many reasons, they may not have trouble reaching their reduced capacity goals.

I understand your reasoning and I agree that they probably won't have problems reaching their reduced capacity goals.  That is one less thing to worry about.  LOL

Have you done a price check recently. Having had 2 cruises cancelled and one moved to next August I noticed that the closer  to final payment you got, prices had shot through the roof, almost as though they are pricing people out of booking the cruise.

Its the same for our 7th February  sailing on the Equinox, which is the Mardi Gras sailing to New Orleans. We are going to pull that one ourselves prior to final payment. There are so many cabins available, this sailing is normally sold out as we have tried twice  before to book it, but it was full.

Our next cruise is to the Norwegian Fjords next summer and prices are much higher than our original booking and doing a cabin check there is lots of availability, far more than you would normally see.

No, I have not price checked, but that makes me feel better that they seem to be pricing themselves out of the market.  I think cancelling your Mardi Gras cruise is the smart way to go.  Fingers crossed for your summer sailing!

No one has any idea, and frankly, don't see any reason to speculate since the cruise lines will make the decisions based on health, revenue and other factors.

We will just have to wait and see.

Yes, we will have to wait and see - I only have three months before final payment before I have to make my decision and I was hoping for some word of wisdom. ☺️

  12. Does anyone have any thoughts about reduced capacity sailings once cruising starts up again?  My first cruise will be May 7 in Alaska.  If it sails, most likely it will be a reduced capacity cruise.  Lets say that it will be sailing at 60% (1710 passengers) and by the time of final payment they have already booked 80% (2280 passengers).  I will be making that final payment in good faith (buying airfare, hotels, etc.) thinking that I will be going on a cruise not realizing that I might be one of the 600 passengers that will have to be cut from the sailing.  How do you think they will make those decisions?  Last in - first out, or do you think that they will say "we can only have 60% inside cabins, OV, Balconies, Suites, etc.  This seems to me like a nightmare scenario for all concerned.

  13. Here's a photo of the teas that were available on the Silhouette in May 2014. This was a mediterranean cruise, which might matter.

    IMG_9311.JPG

I took this photo because I knew someone would ask this question LOL. Hope it helps!

I should add these are the ones that were available in The Hideaway where you make your own coffee/tea on deck 7.

Did you find the water in The Hideaway to be hot and not coffee scented?

Glad to see that I am not the only one who brings a stash of tea on board. :) I find I drink more hot tea on a cruise than when I'm at home.

  14. Leaving in two weeks for 23 nights on Century for $799pp with $250 OBC. :)

All three of the below listed cruises on Celebrity Constellation, inside cabin. OBCs through online site + shareholder benefit.

    11 night Black Sea, R/T Istanbul, 14 Oct. Still at $549pp with $25 + $200 OBC.

11 night Med, Istanbul Israel Rome, 25 Oct. Still at $599pp but with only $200 OBC.

    16 night T/A, Rome Morocco FLL, 5 Nov. Price hike to $979pp with $75 + $250 OBC.

38 nights b2b2b on Celebrity for under $2,100 with $750 of OBC.

Delta Airlines, Houston to Istanbul, on 12 Oct. through Choice Air $335.22!!!

Similar prices on one way air to IST from Atlanta, Miami, and Minneapolis. ;)

I for one will be looking forward to hearing about your trip when you get back. What a great trip and what a great price. Sailing in an inside would be so worth this trip. Have fun!
