  1. Is there a limit to how many bottles you can bring on? I read someone saying that a change was made earlier this year. We are taking a 7 day Alaska to move us up a star level before our 58 day cruise later this year.

Kaub gauge looks to have reached the plateau this afternoon. The downward trend may well have started but from now 216cm it is a long way to go to not so favourable water levels. No sign of the figures turning to double digits before 21 August and even then the probability is low.

@notamermaid We passed Kaub about an hour ago. It was fun to see it after reading your posts for the past months!

It is August, time to have a look at what the river did at Pfelling:.

Thank you @notamermaid. We leave Amsterdam on 10 August, on our way to Budapest on Scenic. This morning we received an email from Scenic saying that due to low water levels in the Upper Danube, we will be getting on the Scenic Jewel in Amsterdam instead of the Jade. Not sure what will happen when we get to the Upper Danube, but will enjoy ourselves no matter!

Quick look at Kaub gauge. 170cm and still rising. Peak expected for tomorrow. Rainy weather continues into tomorrow according to the forecast.

Great! I think that level sorts it, meaning this is good for a decent level for river cruise ships well into August. All of August? Well, not clear and a bit optimistic of course but with the rain having filled Lake Constance a bit, things are looking better than a week ago.

@notamermaid Thank you so much! We leave Amsterdam on 9-August for our first river cruise, and your information has helped!!

Just curious, the current air offer is b1g1, nothing for the 3rd guest.  Was there some offer for 3rd guest at the time you booked?  We looked at adding our daughter to a Jan/2022 Panama cruise, there's no offer/discount for her airfare.

We were just charged for the first and third person for air. On this cruise, third person sailed free, as well.  We are booked in a S4 2-bedroom suite.

BTW, which airline are you using? are you departing from PHX or TUS ?

We took the NCL Air package. $900 total for three of us..  From the tentative info on the Summary page, it looks like a tour of the world's airports. It has changed twice already. Currently PHX-DEN-MUC-VEN....   We hope it goes back to PHX-LHR-VEN. I am a million miler on American, but using miles was crazy "expensive"

We are about equidistant between Tucson and Phoenix.  Currently staying with a friend in Mesa because we had to evacuate due to the Pinnacle Fire....

  7. I quickly got a response back from Katty Byrd, VP of Guest Services for NCL -

Thank you very much for writing in.  It is always great to hear from valued guests such as yourself.

I can confirm our press release dated May 26, 2021 included our extension of our 60-day final payment requirement to all voyages with embarkations through Dec. 31, 2021, instead of the standard 120 days, allowing for more flexible booking.

We look forward to welcoming you in the near future and please do not hesitate to contact me should you require further assistance.

    Regards,

IIf you go to the Newroom section on the NCL page, and look at one of the last paragraphs on the May 26 press release about Eight more ships starting up, it is there.  I am sending it to my TA

  8. I have read numerous articles saying that along with changing the cancelation policy to 61 days for the rest of 2021, the final payment has also changed to 60 days.  My TA (VTG) has called NCL and been told that our back to back to back cruises still have a final payment at 120 days, which for the November 7th Venice round trip is coming up on 2 July.  The other two (Venice to Rome, Rome to Tampa) will be shortly thereafter.

I really hesitate to put out a lot of money when not one NCL ship has sailed!

Has anyone heard anything about the final payment being pushed? On that other platform people mentioned that their Caribbean November cruises had the final payment pushed to 60 days.

Yes. Depending on the cabin, the bed can be really low to the ground, so if you are a person with mobility issues it can be challenging. Otherwise it's a great room, lots of closet space and dark as anything with the lights out!

Thank you.  I thought I saw one in a photo once, but couldn't find it again.  No mobility problems, a short sister that is a marathon runner!

  10. We booked B2B2B while we were on a cruise.  We booked Obstructed Ocean View, and Cruise Next guys upgraded us to OA (Picture window) and were assigned OA on deck 8 for all 3 cruises.  We were offered to bid on upgrade on the first cruise and paid 7 weeks ago for an upgrade to a mini suite.  Just logged into myNCL, and cabin changed to a porthole on deck 4!

Jas anybody seen this?  TA has gone home for the day. This is on the Jade leaving on Monday.

We are starting to book our excursions for our upcoming western Caribbean cruise and want to scuba..However one of the requirements is that you have dived  in the past year and can prove it.

When we have booked SCUBA through the cruise line, they have had us come to the excursion desk with our C-Cards and log book before we get our excursion tickets.  Once we meet with the dive shop, they always want both documents, as well.  We did have a time when we had not dived for 18 months, and the ship would not allow us to purchase the excursion.  We are both Rescue Divers with 250+ dives, we contacted a couple of dive shops on islands and arranged our own dives.  We keep our log books up to date, so we have good records.

A bottle is marked up a bit but you can order and it will be waiting in your cabin

Marked up a BIT?  On myNCL Matua Sauv. Blanc is $44.10....  Just bought it locally for $5.67....  If we don't take the beverage package, we always carry on local wine and pay the 'corkage'.  We just add it to the price of the wine.  We get to drink cool local wine for less than the very ordinary wine on the ship......

We have to change cabins for our back to back cruise beginning this Oct. 2019.  I know that we will have to pack up, but how is the switched handled?  How soon could we move into our new cabin?  I'm a little concerned that out luggage will end up on the pier and we will sail away without it.

    Penny

We have done about  6 B2Bs.  Tslk to your steward a couple days before the end of cruise 1, and ask how to handle it.  The steward will talk to the steward for the new cabin.  If you are lucky, the people in that cabin will leave early.  We put things for our drawers into our suitcase and leave things on hangers.  Your steward wi!l help move things to the new cabin.  Even if it hasn't been cleaned, you can put your suitcase in the new room and move the clothes on hangers.

Depending on the port, you may or not have to disembark, but not matter what, you will  not have to take your stuff off the ship.  It ix easier than you think!!!
