  1. RCI has the best loyalty program. You won't run out of things to do or your kids either. First cruise go withthe best. With that said if you go someplace educational then pick Cele X for obvious reasons more adults and more adult things going on AK or Panama C. Carnival is cheaper and I do like carnival. With them it depends on who we are going with you need a party crowd for carnival. 3 or 4 days cruises are hard hitting partiers anything 7 days or longer more adult bunch.

  2. Please post on the East Coast Departures board with ALL of your details. Exact dates. Number of people. Hotel budget. Flight plans (how are you getting to Cape Liberty? When and where are you flying home from?) Current Long Island City plans - hotel name and price. Can you manage your luggage on accessible public transit?

I've read many posts by 138east. give her your details she knows the city and from all i've seen here she has the most knowledge about this.

  3. My daughter and I will be cruising Canada/East coast next month and wonder how to get from the Bayonne cruise port to a hotel we're staying at in Long Island City.

I have googled, I have phone the hotel, I have researched and no one seems to know.

    Can someone offer any suggestions?

Not sure why your staying on LI? Country in and suites at airport and train into city is the ticket.

But to answer your question -- take shuttle to JFK airport flat rate. Then Uber or LYFT if you need to go right away. Otherwise theres a train from JFK about 3 miles to the LIRRoad. That will take you LICity.

FYI if you go to Neward airport there's a bus for 8.00 from terminal B to Bryant Park right in the middle of the NYcity.

  4. Thanks for your post.

We are Diamond on Carnival and just turned Platinum on Princess.

Both cruise lines are good and offer a great cruise but overall we are going more toward Princess as many of our cruises are too see the world and Carnival does not offer that.

Will say that Princess buffet is much better than Carnival.

Entertainment is mixed. Production shows far superior on Carnival but Carnival offers more comedy shows and a better piano bar

We cruise a little. Started in 1998. We have 340 days on RCI' date=' 146 on Carnival, 71 on NCL and Cele X we have 183. (1 on Princess).

We stay away from 3 or 4 day cruises on any line. Reason its a blow off some steam cruise for most going on them. anything 6 or more days and there's a more subdued crowd and not many kids running wild. We pick RCI or CeleX when its a learing type cruise-- Canal or Europe or even AK. When we go with our kids it's more Carnival and RCI-- gives kids and grand kids more options for their fun and younger crowd. Carnival has the best kids camp. When grand kids were younger they would beg to go---.

  5. been going to BAH for 30 years and for 25 on cruise ships. Unless something burns down what has the BAH done to attract visitors. It's a dump there and everyone knows it. If I were to run crusie lines I would demand they either clean their act up or we stop coming. The "its the islands mom" stoped working 15 years ago. Off island shopping-- comon man how many coconut carvings can you collect as take home gifts? The guys a moroon.

  6. my wife and I are frequent cruisers. RCI we have 340 days, Carn is 171, NCL is 71, CeleX is 183. Not telling you this to brag just to let you know we've been around. We've won 3 cruises since 1998. 1 on Carn and one on RCI. Last cruise on DAWN we won a 7 day and 1,000.00 value.

So here's the details: inside cabin (s) are around 500.00 each plus T&port. That eats up the 1K. So we decide to go on a 6 day AK cruise and bump up-- small print-- to bump to balcony you can't get the lowest price balcony you can only get cabins starting at one above lowest level and that was 1599.00EA. +T &port not the 856.00 balcony. So we opt for the mini lowest suite it's 3900.00 minus the 1K winners credit. 1900.00. Oh forgot your days can't count toward your Latitudes Points.

FYI on RCI and Carn when we bumped up (by upgrading and paying the difference for the cabin the points came to us. NO NOT with NCL. Wrote the president of NCL and just got a call they got my letter. Oh! no way we can give points even with the extra $2K we paid for upgrade. I reminded the man for the $2K outlay we could have had the lower balcony at $856.00 PP and gotten the 6 points. Oh no we can't do that he said. So I asked him "well what are you calling me for"? couldn't the office of the president just mail me NO WE CAN't do that. He told me NO WE CAN'T MAIL THAT ANSWER? what in the world is happening in the universe.

Here's the kick in the teeth, as if there isn't enough tooth loss, just received a flyer from our res person mini suite can be had on same cruise for $1099.00.

  7. I've got 86 cruises and will say have seen many yelling into their talkies and the connection is always terrible. As long as he dosen't need to call you --- house phones as with any phone is never where you need thewm when you need them. When you do your ship tour the firs today Iwould check there locations. There are many you just need to know where to look.

  8. I now know why I switched to other cruise lines. America's cup and NCL's dates in Bermuda were the only reason i went back, THIS TIME, to NCL. I agree with corkage in dining room for sure. When I bring a bottle opener (cork screw) with me for wine in cabin its pure theft taking a fee for that.

  9. Yes we were there shipwreck yesterday the 15th. Group of 6. You want 70 perperson or 60 for 6 people. We had shade and 6 chairs and taxi take us . Same water same water front and a jimmy buffit place---- do shipwreck. Go early for best chairs. Many many locals there. We email lizpereir tours. She had Queenie pick us up. Nice lady nice taxi. 10. Opinions Please ..thanks!!

Yes we went to shipwreck. Called lizpereiratours@yahoo.com for transportation. Was 60.. for 6 of us.

Beach bar and chairs with beach people in mind. Get there early if you need shade. Chairs were free and palm umbrellas free. We got there at 11 am and got last umrella.

Ask liz for Queenie the driver. From the bronx and fun.

You can compare prices with ship beach tour. 70 per person of 60 for 6? You do the math. [emoji1]

  11. Simple supply and demand, charging what the market will bear. If people will pay a higher rate, RCI will charge it. If they don't sell, the price will come down.

Last time I looked, the mission of RCI is to make a profit.

Bruce as with most business endeavors profit is motive #1--- price gouging your clients shouldn't be.

You pull up to a gas station and as you pump the gas station tank gets lower-- should the price start going up. set the price and live with it. These cabana's were in the 175 range-- now 395 and up. As you say though-- there's always shade elsewhere.

You should not have a bad taste in your mouth when dealing with tours while on vacation. You loss your loyal fans that way-- and business.

  12. Thank you all for posting and letting us know your experience.

We had maintenance come because we couldn't get AC off-- or to heat. When they got there I had already turned my sisters thermostat FULL up ( as I said it was either full up or down nothing inbetween.

9 of us are notifying the CDC here in Atlanta. Should this NOT be taken care of we're looking at a boat load of Legionary's disease candidates. I have already emailed RCI.

  13. WE had a great 9 days sailing. Stops and side trips fantastic. This post is about how many fellow travelers had respiratory issues? Our group had 6 cabin with 12 persons and 9 now have issues. While on the ship several trips were made to thew infirmary for breathing treatment. When we got on our flight from FCO to ATL the coughing and hacking went on for 10.5 hours by others we recognized from the cruise.

Note: the HVAC remained on constantly. You could not turn off the cabin fans. The thermostat was either all to cold or all to hot-- nothing in between. The vent in the cabin when i looked at it was packed with gunk in my cabin and 2 other cabins i looked at. The last night the room was so humid the sheets felt like they were wet.

Would like to know of other travelers health from this cruise if you don't mind. If we had some numbers maybe we could send them to RCI corporate.
