Can u take the carts to great beaches or are they too far away??  Sorobon beach....Loc Bay....too far by golf cart ??

    HI,

Yes there are beaches both south and north.  Just remember to take the key out of the cart when you park it.  Loc Bay is at the southern end.  Don't miss the 1,000 Steps - beautiful area and the water such an amazing color.  Included a link here for you of a map showing paved roads and beaches around the island.  Hope that helps.  We didn't do any swimming the day we were there as we wanted to see as much of the island as possible, but we stopped from time to time to walk to water's edge.

  2. We did this and were very pleased. Golf carts are in great condition and the staff is very pleasant and eager to help you with any questions or concerns you may have.

They have a kiosk right outside the port entrance where they check off your name and direct you to the office(short walk on even surfaces), where you get the cart.

We watched a video on you tube before we went which gives a good visual of the trip around the island. Be sure to take a couple bottles of water along. We also took pool towels for the seat of the cart as it can get quite warm. We did both south and north routes and had time to see shops and set-ups around the port area too.

In rechecking my notes, I see that we will be seeing Loch Lomand, the Trossachs and Stirling castle as we go from Glasgow to Edinburgh (to the Tattoo that evening)

We are planning for the Tattoo 2020 onboard Regal Princess.  It sounds like you purchased your tickets privately rather than through your ship.  The prices for the excursion through the ship seem very high.  What tour company did you book to get to see all these places along the way? Also, how did you procure your tickets for the Tattoo?

    Thanks much

  4. Likewise, we have toured with Herod and had a fantastic time. I've been doing research for our January 2020 cruise and hoped to book him again.  However, his web domain is for sale.  I hope he's OK and there isn't a health issue.

We booked a golf cart thru Bonaire Cruisers as well. Probably our favorite activity when we did the ABC islands in December. Definitely recommend.

Have to agree with this 100%!  They have an easy-up set up at the pier where they check you in and give you directions to the actual location of the shop. Don’t worry, it’s an easy walk to get there. Would suggest you take pool towels from the ship and some bottles of water, as the seat gets hot in the sun and you will no doubt get thirsty along the way.  It was a fabulous way to see a lot of the island and we are looking forward to doing it again January 2020. They do tend to sell out, so you should book early.

  6. We did this last spring while we were on the Reflection. Arrive early at the little tent set up near the port to get directions to the actual cart location-very near and easily walkable. We did both the South and North routes and enjoyed both. The salt fields and abandoned slave huts as well as the beach markers people have erected were amazing. Following the north route you get to see Rincon (where the distillery is located) as well as 1000 steps, and the beautiful views of the island from several vantage points. Be sure to watch the videos of the 2 routes they have on their website. Take along one of the ship’s beach towels to cover the seat as it gets very hot. We plan on doing it again next cruise!

  7. We were on the April 2 sailing and thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. We said time and again how friendly the entire crew was. That starts from the Captain down. His influence was noticeable on every level.

Would recommend to stay away from the duck on the menu but other than that food was excellent. Be sure and try the Lawn Club Grill. On our sailing Petite Chef was $25/pp and worth it.

As others have mentioned, pool area crowded and difficult to find a lounger. Entertainment was good and there’s always live music somewhere.

Both our room attendant and butler were wonderful, always asking if we needed anything.

Go and enjoy with a positive attitude and you won’t be disappointed!

  8. We have so enjoyed your travelog. You have a wonderful gift for capturing and expressing all your sailing adventures! The pictures have been fantastic, too. We sailed just ahead of you on the Reflection (Apr 2-13) and captured your cruise leaving Fort Lauderdale while we strolled along the beach. We trust you have enjoyed her as much as we did. Looking forward to your Rome adventures!

  9. Hi Debra,

We just returned from Reflection sky suite. I have had both knees replaced and was concerned when I saw the height of the tub. Turned out not to be a problem at all[emoji847]. I managed by sitting on the edge of the tub and placing one leg at a time into/out of the tub. There was the towel bar for support at the back of the tub area but I never felt I needed it. I did ask for an extra bath mat for the floor so it was right under the area where I got in/out to decrease chance of slipping on the floor.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your cruise!

  10. We had a very similar situation while doing ABC islands cruise two weeks ago. My husband and our teenage daughter love snorkeling but I don't. We decided to do a private tour with Curacao Taxi Max. He made sure that the tour was customized to our liking after I emailed him our list of things we wanted to do and see . Everything was well organized, his vehicle was well maintained, clean and comfortable. The price was very reasonable.

    Good luck!

What did you pay for your tour? I’ve looked on trip advisor but no one mentions a price and he doesn’t have a website. Did you pay per person or 1 fee for his taxi and services?

  11. Hi

Have you still got contact for Heidi as when I did a google search I could not be directed to the booking page for her tours??

    Hi,

We have toured with Heidi twice and had fantastic experiences each time. Both times it ended up being just the 2 of us with Heidi and her blind dog. Each tour we saw different things. She is very accommodating and willing to customize for you. We really enjoyed the included lunch which we ate along the water at Flatts.

You can reach her at bermudabyways.com

  12. Does Uber operate in Aruba? We’ve been reading about high taxi rates, and thought perhaps Uber (if available) would be cheaper. We would like to get to Flying Fishbone restaurant. If no Uber, is there a bus route. If so, would it be safe at night and how late does it run? Thanks!

  13. The taxi fare is $26.00 each way, not including tip.

We too were looking at this restaurant as our son and wife had eaten there on their honeymoon and raved about it. Is Uber in operation in Aruba? Might be an alternative if it is?

  14. We just returned from our cruise and had arranged to tour with Royston. He was waiting for us at Port Zante and we had a wonderful experience. It is obvious he loves his island! For 5 1/2 hrs we traveled with him willing to stop for photos when we wanted. Our tour included entry fees to Brimstone and Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor as well as our lunch. We basically had an overview of the entire island.

  15. Most impressed with all the info on hotels, packages, shuttle services to Liberty on this thread. Might someone know the latest construction info for the area? All I can find is from 2014/15. Is the construction complete? We will be arriving via I-78 from PA in April. Still haven't decided on drive/park at port or the Trinity package deal.

  16. We have toured twice with Heidi of Byways Bermuda. Once as a private tour and once in a shared tour. Both were great days!

We have also been with Heidi and know several friends who have booked with her. She will customize you trip if you have something specific you want to see. The included lunch is always good.

Heidi is also quite an accomplished artist and displays and sells her paintings at a shop at the Dockworks

  17. Reporting back on Cedar Valley-VERY disappointing! It was like playing a cow pasture! I always try to purchase a ball marker or sleeve of balls-nothing like that for sale. Clubs for rent were horrible-old set of Wilsons. Best part of the day were the guys I played with from the ship. WAY overpriced experience. Can't recommend

  18. What is the new pier like in Roadtown, please?

The "Grand Opening" started on Feb. 16th. There are several shops open and several more which look like they are about to open. There is a waterside restaurant to the right as you walk from the pier. The shops flank both sides of the street. If you walk to the end of this area(straight ahead), there are taxis waiting. We were offered several 2hr tours of the island for $20/pp but had already booked our tour. The taxi operators were not pushy and very polite.
