Yes, that is pretty much the way it always has been.  It's been a long time since we attended the senior officers party, but I think free drinks (e.g. champagne) are offered at that event.

I see. I am Diamond on Royal, so just a "transfer" to Elite on Celebrity. Trying to plan my next cruise on either Celebrity or Royal, so nice to know the rules on each. TU

We were on Reflection last month.  Elite cocktail hour was unlimited drinks in the Sky Lounge and 3 drinks (loaded on to your SeaPass card) at any other bar except for the World Class Bar.

So you do not get free drinks on the day you get on the ship and the day of the senior officers party>

  3. Leaving in 2 weeks and want to book our next cruise on board, specifically to get a reduced deposit. I am hoping that they are at least offering a reduced deposit otherwise I will just go ahead and book it. The cabins are getting so limited. We just moved to a new house and haven't closed on our other yet. Add that to our cruise in 2 weeks, and we really don't have a spare $900 for a deposit right now.

Also, if you know how long the current promotion lasts would be helpful..

    Thank you

  4. I am looking for something different to celebrate my 65th birthday, but my budget won't allow what I really want to do. I was looking at different options than what Royal, Celebrity and NCL had to offer and I came across MSC... I ashamed to say I have never heard of them. I tried doing a search, but not coming up with much. Looking for opinions, advice or what have you.

RE: Waterslides, my understanding is that glasses are not permitted, even with straps. As for attire, my understanding is also that shoes are not permitted (basically nothing loose that could come off you is permitted). Otherwise, bathing suit, shirt optional. I will say this, on the waterslides on Adventure, my husband got rubbed (not quite "burned") on his back/shoulders by the ridges in the segments of the slide, and said next time he would wear a compression or water shirt to prevent that.

This is what I was thinking. I have a rash guard for snorkeling that I thought would be good, but didn't know if it had to be something specific.

I was just on the Serenade and booked two Celebrity Cruises.  I received whatever perks and reduced deposit.

However - when I went to transfer it to my travel professional - the agency had a MUCH lower group rate that required the full $500 deposit.  No brainer.

Thank you. I really am torn. The cruise I am interested in requires a $900 deposit and it's not the best time for me to do that so I was kind of hoping for the reduced deposit. But it seems like the cabins are very limited (even though it is 17 mo away). Can you tell me what the reduced deposit was and then you got the royal obc and the celebrity perks too? TU I was just going to come back here and ask that same question.

  7. crusinfromtampa - So about the junk. That sounds like an awesome day. We are currently booked privately on the Woodwind (we've done them before and they are fantastic) but looking for something different. I always said, snorkeling in Klein Bonaire is like snorkeling in an aquarium. My concern is getting in and out of the dingy and up a ladder? on the junk. I am not sure if we could do it. I am assuming you need to pull yourself out of the water into the dingy and flop a leg over the side?

I am really enjoying your attention to detail and comments on things. You see things as I do and it is helping me a lot to know what to expect. We do not eat carbs (Keto) so I was really debating on Hooked. My husband absolutely loves lobster. You gave me something to think about. There is certainly enough for us to eat. Thank you again.

yes, every cruse we make it clear "no starch"  and they always deliver.  Interesting that you've not had that....

Good to know. I will definitely try again. I just figured (because Ive taken the galley tour) its easier for them to pick up from all the plates that are pre-made, than to get something special. But he did have to get me my veggies??

    Thanks everyone!

I tried the Protein shake in my coffee and I found it to be terrible!  And to me, there is a difference between HWC and half n half. It’s not the carb content in HWC vs HnH. That doesn’t concern me. I like the taste and creaminess of HWC.  I could use sweetener packets but I don’t use them in my coffee b/c I want the flavor (like vanilla).

I also don’t want to carry refrigerated items around with me to get coffee.  I was hoping there was a yummy powder alternative that someone knew about. I’ve been searching but so far nothing. At least nothing that tastes good to me anyway.

So, it looks like I’ll be trying HnH with sweetener to get used to it before we go.

And, I won’t be doing full keto on the cruise. I just want to make choices of where I’m going to eat keto and not.  I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all all the input!

I understand totally what you are saying about HWC. Since I switched to HWC, I totally miss that richness if I have to use something else. I used to put the flavored creamers in my coffee, thus why I can tolerate the pure protein. However, they discontinued the caramel for awhile and I hated the vanilla. I have since gotten used to it. I am thrilled that the caramel is back and just bought some at Walmart for my cruise next month. I have a lot of vanilla to use up at home. I am a little more concerned on this cruise about my willpower. Ive been keto over a year now and at my goal weight. I know I have a little wiggle room, but hope I can stay strong.

  10. Any suggestions as to where to go in Curacao for free wifi? I hate to pay the ship's ridiculous prices for wifi when all I need to do is quick check email to make sure all is well at home once a day. TU

I am also posting this on Aruba and Bonaire so if you know those ports too, you could post that too.
