  1. So let's try and get this straight...you're complaining because you got a full refund AND a future cruise credit? Seems like you don't have a leg to stand on dude. Dude they gave you all your money back as you paid for it and now you have a free cruise, you're not giving them anything. They gave you a whale of a deal.

The issue isn't whether the compensation is adequate or not but simply how the FCC is split. In my opinion the OP made a very reasonable request of RC in asking for the FCC to be split evenly and I would call RC out on the statement that they cannot split it otherwise. As far as a "Whale of a deal" that is certainly debatable given the time and expense involved in traveling to Australia but again that wasn't the complaint.

  2. I believe the real solution is to call back RC and tell them how you want the credit split. When the rep tells you they cant do that tell the rep you want to speak with their supervisor and so on. Be a pest. I can (almost) guarantee you that with a little less effort than posting and responding to this thread you will get someone to split the credit the way you want. It's really not rocket science and there is no real reason they can't do it. You just have to get to the person who can get it done for you. Unfortunately I have had a lot of experience with customer service reps telling me how they can't fulfill what would seam an easy and reasonable task. Fortunately, in most cases a little persistence overcomes.

  3. ...The airlines have started charging for extra baggage. Trying to fit a tux or a suit, or a sequin dress in luggage means they had to have their own piece of luggage. Most of us do not want to haul more luggage and pay for it....

Excellent point. I've always brought and worn a suit for formal night but looking ahead to our upcoming 13 day Baltic Cruise I will not be bringing one. I'll have enough trouble bringing enough clothing for the trip without lugging and paying for an extra bag. I certainly wont be renting a tux. I absolutely wont go to the Windjammer because someone may be offended by my dress shirt and pants.

To tell the truth, I've questioned why I keep bringing and wearing a suit. It's not something I enjoy so why should I do it on my vacation?

  4. Thanks for all the replies. I guess I didn't ask the question properly. The primary question is whether the plug adapters shown in the first link < https://www.amazon.com/Ckitze-Europe.../dp/B001EB26MO > will work in all the ports we will be hitting (Stockholm, Copenhagen, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). I read that Denmark and Finland use a different standard but it looks like for an un-grounded device should work anyway.

  5. We, my wife and I, are staying at the Scandic Continental prior to embarking on Royal Caribbeans Serenade in July (2018). We are wondering about options to travel between Stockholm Centralstation and Frihamnen. It looks like we could take a subway to a bus to Frihamnen but doing that with two large and two carry ons is less than appealing. What should a Taxi cost between these two areas and are there any other/ better alternatives?

  6. I have a Travel Inspira Universal power adapter. I read a thread today where this might be taken from me because it is surge suppressed. Is there anywhere in the Baltic a European plug adapter like this < https://www.amazon.com/Ckitze-Europe-Travel-Power-Adapter/dp/B001EB26MO > would not work? I probably only need it in Stockholm and Copenhagen (beggining and end of cruise)but would be nice if it worked in the other ports of call, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Also, does anyone know if I'll have trouble with my USB hub? < https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M2UNX0T/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 >

  7. I've searched the board and have found all kinds of good information. Our upcoming 13 night Baltic cruise on the Serenade OTS is approaching. We have been flip flopping on refreshment package vs coffee card + bottled water vs ala carte. I'm hoping some people here with experience on the Serenade and Stockholm might be able to answer a few questions.

    1) What is the price for bottled water by the bottle, both the small bottles at the bars 16 oz. or 20 oz.? and the larger liter bottles they sell at the gangways?

    2) Has anyone purchased and brought a case of water aboard in Stockholm? I've seen a bunch of info related to US ports but not European ports. Not my first choice but $80+ for a case of water I could get for less than $10 just bugs me.

    3) do they charge the same for the case of water on board as they do on the cruise planner before the cruise?

Finally, unrelated to water, I've seen information in other threads stating that the Serenade is one of the ships that punches cafe cards two and three times for larger sizes of specialty coffee. Can anyone confirm?

Thank you to all for the great information you provide on these boards.

  8. Thanks JB. There is no mention of group size so it is probably large and you are probably right that smaller is better. It does seem that many/ most seem to recommend Alla or SPB and as a bunch of people from my Roll Call are booking Alla I'll probably go with them.

I'll check out ad blocker plus. Never had such a persistently annoying add as I did last night. It was actually the same ad above and below playing tag team and they just kept loading over and over again.

  9. I'm looking at three day tours in St Petersburg and I'm looking for a more detailed description/ itinerary of the tour offered by Royal Caribbean. It seems the prices are about the same ($385 for Alla/ SPB vs $390 for RCCL) so I'm wondering what Alla/ SPB offer that Royal's tour doesn't.

    Thanks all.

(BTW, How do I keep these &*%&*)$ adds (video and audio) from constantly playing over and over again?)

  10. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to get a better price on my cruise and maybe I'm missing the point of this thread but it seems to me that RCCL believes they have a product that is worth a certain price. They offer it at that price and people will buy it or they wont. If they buy it then good for RCCL. If they don't then RCCL can either lower the price or change the packaging. I would hope that if it were my business the people working for me would try option two first. I would want to make the best profit I could while providing an experience that will meet customers "reasonable" expectations (which sometimes is not the case but so far as my limited experience with cruising goes, RCCL has done). As a customer I do my research, weigh itinerary, ship features etc with the offered price and make my choice. So far RCCL has come in ahead in that comparison for us.

  11. On the bright side, maybe the new $7.95 service charge will cut way back on a couple of my pet peeves. First is the "trash" in the hallways. This bugs me not only on the ships but in resort hotels as well. I could never understand why finished trays would sit in the hallways for hours on end. Have seen the same trays sitting in the hall at 10-11pm and see it still sitting there at 5-6am. Gross. The second is the amount of waste. Bad enough I have to avoid the garbage in the halls but then to see how much is wasted...... I know it's not really my business but it troubles me all the same.
