  1. My husband is the only one who hasn't been to any of the ports. I'm leaning towards the water taxi at St. Martin and then staying near ports for the others so we don't need the car seat. I'm really not sure what's the best plan

  2. We have a balcony one.

Can I ask why you don't trust the water on the ship?

She doesn't mind her car seat stroller which is why I'm considering it. We don't want to gate check our good stroller which is why we are trying to figure out what to do.

  3. We leave for St. Thomas, St. Martin and San Juan in 3 weeks with a 6 month old. How do we get around the islands? I know not all taxis have seat belts in the back so I'm nervous.

  4. So you cruise the week after us maybe? I am going MLK week. I can try to log on after I get off and post some things for you. We are bringing an umbrella stroller. It is a nice one, but still an umbrella.

We cruise the week after you then. If you have the time that would be great!

We are debating a snap and go vs umbrella stroller as I don't think she's old enough to be totally comfortable in an umbrella stroller

  5. I agree that the rack of lamb was pretty bad on our last cruise and the lobster is something I would not even order. The beef wellington on the other hand is usually very good!

Are you on the January 11th Reflection cruise?

Where in NYC are you located? I live in the east 50s.

    Happy Sailing!

I'm in Brooklyn right now and from Brooklyn but living in Bayonne right now. Stay warm!

We are doing the Jan 25 sailing.

  6. They provide pack and plays. You need to contact the precruise specialty people to order your formula and food for the baby- that is included in their rate. Someone said there's wasn't on the ship, and another said it took some time to track it down. Either way if you have a special order it needs to be sent in 45 (or maybe 50) days before the cruise. I decided I will bring enough supplies for the first 2 days (until the first port ) and if my food isn't there I will make celebrity rectify that problem during the first port day. I can always ship it via amazon if necessary.

We are cruising with out 7.5 month old in 2 weeks. I will let you know how it goes.

So follow up and ask q's at the end of the month and I will have more info.

Thanks. We leave in 3 weeks. We are driving to port from my grandmother's so bringing our own stuff

  7. Cruisinggator2 has already told you to check out the menus in our review at www.thepreismans.com. That should provide you with what you need on meals. I also have all of the dailies, so you can see which nights were formal nights for the Eastern itinerary.

Mike, your review was AMAZING. I spent last night reading it. I am really looking forward to trying the Reflection, although I'm nervous doing it with an infant still. Thank you so much for putting that together!

  8. Thanks cb. I need to see if she even likes the umbrella stroller... She'll sleep in her infant car seat which is why I'm considering buying a cheap snap and go I don't want to have to check my good stroller on the plane.

Hubby is saying to do the balcony but I'd rather not spend the extra money and she sleeps really well when we are out and about...

I'll be bringing my pack n play as we have a spare one down by my grandmother's, we would be driving to the port from her.

  9. Hi everyone!

On a 7 night, what nights are formal nights? Are lamb chops served? What night? Anyone have the menus? (or a link to a thread that has them all?)

  10. With a 6 month old. Any tips or advice? We are booking tomorrow, still not sure about a balcony or not.

What would be a better stroller a snap and go or an umbrella stroller? I can't decide which one makes more sense.

  11. Planning "just in case" seems like a good idea, nyyhoneybee. On our Sapphire Princess cruise I had plans for all three port days (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas). I don't think any of my plans worked out.

Well, we did follow through with my not-so-wise plans to ride on a rickety bus in Puerto Vallarta. The bus even featured bullet holes and you could see the pavement through holes in the floor. (But we saved the cost of a taxi ride, ha.) After we got off the bus, we got snagged by a timeshare salesman who stole away most of our port time (we even had to wonder for a while if we would miss the ship).

Nevertheless, I tried to have the attitude all along that my plans were tentative, and that I would enjoy being with DW no matter what we ended up doing. Normally I would have been frustrated not to be able to follow through with my plans, but I successfully convinced myself that I would not let that happen.

But now I have so many plans for the Golden Princess cruise (and clues that relate to those plans) that it may be more of a challenge to just go with the flow. I will need to keep reminding myself that this is supposed to be for DW, not for me, so if I have to sacrifice my plans so that DW can do something she wants, I will just have to convince myself to enjoy it anyway! After all, it's "another day in Paradise!" :D

    Yikes!

I just would like to be surprised...just once.....

  12. I'm so glad this was helpful; your comments made me smile! And a fellow DAT - DATS are where it's AT! I LOVE doing DAT...but for DSHR, my favorite thing to do is drive an ERV. Yes. I am one of those crazy ERV drivers you see on TV! :) My weird sense of humor fits right in with it! I LOVE the ARC - I think it's a top notch organization and I have met so many amazing people through it. Thanks for all the work you do for NY and the surrounding area; perhaps we'll meet one day on a DR! :)

Ah, the Royal Suite...a true once-in-a-lifetime experience! I'm just glad I took pictures so that even I am able to remember it when I'm old and grey!

I hate driving anything bigger then an SUV lol. My team captain wants me to take the ARC driving class but I keep finding ways to say no, lol. We will see how much longer I can hold him off for!

I would love to meet you on a DR or a cruise or somewhere else! One day!

    I will cruise it.....eventually LOL!

  13. Just read this whole thread and love it! She's a lucky woman!

I'm in the same boat with DH.....he's amazing but if I want something done, I have to plan it. I told him when he brought up the idea of adding Paris onto our upcoming honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip that I would plan the rest but he has to plan the three days in Paris. He agreed. Last night he admitted that if I don't plan it there won't be any plans made and we won't see as much as we want to see. *sigh* He said he will take care of the plans for our anniversary but I will have something planned just in case.

  14. And you're right...about the planning. The Serenade European cruise took over a year of planning, and so I really didn't plan much for this sailing. I set up two private tours - for our two ports of calls - and then I just sat back and relaxed. It was kinda' awesome to just wing it. I DID miss the CC friendships, though, especially not having any other "adults" to talk to, so to speak. I love Mickey - but she is a kid. Although she will be 13 tomorrow, as she likes to remind everyone! :p

I have done enough planning for trips this year (I was in Istanbul at a conference for 10 days earlier this year) that I'm starting to think that I am crazy for the fact that my dream cruise for next year (Alaska) will require planning. I think that I might just step back and take a break and suggest something a little "easier" LOL...or at least that is what I say now. I bet come the end of Sept I'll be ready to plan another trip!
