  1. I have sailed Anthem four times. Have done deck 6 balconies just off of forward elevator twice and a guarantee balcony that landed us midship on deck 12. The overhang is actually over the deck 13 balconies. Our fourth time we stayed in an interior with virtual balcony on deck 8... not really a fan of interiors, but the location was great near the forward elevators.

Back on in November and staying in the same deck 6 rooms we have been in before. I like the ability to just walk out my door and down the stairs to the Schooner bar, or hop the elevator and straight up to the Solarium.

Going on the Anthem in 2019 Q1. Is the quest played in the Anthem? 2. How does dining work and is there a problem in the smaller restaurants getting a table for 8?

  2. what 'freebies' do they give out, if any, for you to take back to your cabin and then home?

You did get a really nice badge that said you took the tour; but I have gotten more free "stuff" from RCCL that would fill a drawer full, hats, pens, note pads, tee shirts, key chains, poker chips. I always wanted to buy one of those really nice ceramic ships models in the ships store but $30 would kept me from spending the money. I did find a RCCL ship at a thrift store for a couple of dollars, and it was one of the ships we had gone on

  3. For the experienced cruisers we all have the stories in the MDR of siting with strangers and the crazy things that are discussed at the table. My last cruise we had people for the UK, Canada and the USA. As the week went on the one couple from the US started telling accounts of what went on during the cruise. The last night the couple told a story about a couple they met that would make even a sailor blush. The Canada and UK were really taken back. How about other table stories out there?

  4. To those who find after a few cruises they do not like it: here are a few tips to try again. 1. Find the right ship and the right itinerary. 2. If you do not like a lot of kids on the ship avoid the summer months. 3. Try an all adult cruise line. 4. Try going with another couple. 5. If you want to share a table with strangers in the MDR be careful who you dine with for seven days; do not be afraid to move. Everyone has horror stories of sitting with the walking dead; or is that the sitting dead. LOL

  5. Princess will have a cooking demonstration in the Princess Theater followed by a fast-moving walk through of the galley areas. Usually on the last sea day; if you don't wish to attend the cooking show (which is usually quite lively) just stake out the exit to the theater and blend in with the stampede.

Backstage tours can be hit or miss; I did have one on Ruby Princess three years ago. Was led by the bandleader and a couple of the dancers.

The Ultimate Ship's Tour is pricey ($150) but absolutely worth it. If interested put your name on the list at the purser's desk right after you board. It is a long 3 hours-plus on your feet but you get to almost everywhere: backstage, rope casting room in the bow, deep into the galley and larders, engine control room, print shop, photo shop, garbage sorting area, medical center, bridge with champagne and snacks with the Captain.

Sounds very similar to the RCCL tour. Our RCCL backstage tour was led by a male flyer and a female dancer. Both of them were amazing performers. My last Celebrity cruise the high points cruisers got to go to the heliport for a sailaway from Santorini Greece. Amazing view but a little windy. LOL

  6. that's dress code, sorry

thank you does the ship have backstage tours of the main theater and tours of the ship's kitchen? If so are they free? I was in the RCCL full ship tour, close to three hours, it was amazing! $135 per person

  7. Yes, normally two formal nights on a seven-night cruise.

To be sure you should double-check on your Travel Summary; in the section Itinerary for this Booking the last line should read "Your itinerary includes # formal nights and # smart casual nights"

Princess still does theme-night parties such as Country/Western, Caribbean, '70s disco or similar. Look in the Patter for the listing of the party, usually in Explorer's Lounge or on deck for the Caribbean party. But Princess long ago stopped suggesting that one wear the corresponding attire for that evening.

    that's dress code, sorry

  8. We actually haven't tried RCCL yet.

First few were on Pacific Princess and fell in love.

Tried a few since, the only one that really came close was Celebrity (in fact in a few areas they were probably better) but had our first cruises been on P&O, or even Emerald Princess, may have saved me a fair bit of money.

Ben on 12 RCCL cruises; going on Princess for the first time. RCCL is a wonderful cruise line for families. But do not go if you do not like crowds. There largest ships hold over 6000.

  9. I am going on the 7 day cruise on Regal Princess in January. I understand there are two formal nights in the MDR; is that correct? Also, do they schedule nights such as tropical dress night? Planning my wardrobe for the trip.

  10. I will be going on the Regal Princess in January. This is my first cruise on Princess. I have been on 20 other cruises. 1. What is the entertainment like on board. 2. What is the dress code for formal night.3. Is there a charge for the spa? 4. Any of the specialty restaurants worth it? 5. What types of special games such as trivia? 6. RCCL has a fun event called The Quest; is there anything like that on Princess?

  11. On board, and anxiously looking forward to this report. Will be on the sister ship, Royal, in January 2019. Looking forward to your review of the ship.

Also, just off the Crown Princess from the Oct. 4 - 15 Canada/New England cruise.

Is that your MGTD? I have been a British car nut for 50 years. Just got back fro the UK and the Goodwood Revival meet with 165,000 other people
