Our family has never been on a cruise before and decided to give it a try during the kids spring break. We booked a 7 day out of Charleston, SC for April. Our choices were very limited due to the date restriction due to the kids. The ship is the Carnival Ecstasy. I have a few questions:
1- The kids love to swim but I also realize that the water temp at that time of year tends to be pretty cold. Will the kids be able to enjoy the slides and pools while on the ship? The water should be fine that time of year. Its really hit or miss
2- The figuring out the excursions to do is a little hard. The reviews seem to be all over the map. It seems to make sense to do the cruise offered excursions so we have no chance of getting left behind. The kids are wanting to go the Atlantis. Its almost $400 for us to go and don't know if it would be worth it. Any suggestions for Nassau, Half Moon, and Grand Turk? A while ago you could do the aquarium and tour Atlantis for free but not anymore. Now a days we mostly do a little shopping or stay on ship and have a pool/waterslide day with the kids when docked in Nassau.
Never been to HMC so cant comment but have heard its wonderful!
Grand Turk - Walk Past Margaritaville and the $24 cheeseburgers about a mile down the beach to Jacks Shack. Get some Jerk Chicken and a local beer and play with the resident dogs (one is the famous Topher) THis is one of our all time favorite spots. Just a nice beach day.
3- I'm assuming that due to the time and being Spring Break the ship will be crowded. Anyone have any experiences with cruising during that time?
Sorry cant help there never cruised during spring break.
Thanks for the Help

Mr. Sanchos is always a good time. Just make sure you know what time it is because my wife and I may or may not have almost missed the boat after too many tequilas:eek:

Just booked yesterday!!!

I just booked the breeze as well!!!
The only thing i have to do now is try to figure out navigating Galveston/Houston. It seems difficult and expensive so far.
-
Liberty is my favorite ship so far! Sailing on the Conquest TOMORROW.
No single digit dance for me though.............no one wants to see that:eek:
-
3 days!!!!!! For some reason I can't stay focused at work.

I found the new cruise search very different and did not like it at all.
And agree, very hard to compare.
Hmmmmmmm......
It wasn't broke, so why in the he** did they "fix" it.
It's not like there were problems the way it was.
Sheeeezzzz....apparently the IT dept has too much time on their hands.
If it's not broke........fix it till it is!!

Were on the same cruise as well!!!!
See y'all there!!:D:D:D

Have sailed on the Breeze and will have to say it is my favorite Carnival ship. Having said that, we are booking the Conquest, for a March sailing, TODAY. Always love having something to look forward to. By the way, my daughter and her family live in Dallas (Ga.) and we are in Newnan.
We decided on the Conquest and booked this past weekend. Unfortunately, I waited too long and flights have doubled!
We just moved from Dallas to Winston (Douglas County) in October. Small World :)
-
yeah we're leaning toward the conquest.
Anyone stayed in an OV room on Deck 1? Forward or Aft? Worried about noise/vibrations from the water or engines.

Need some help. Got a good christmas bonus this year and am going to surprise the family with a last minute cruise for winter break in February.
Looking at what's available, there is a 6 day on the breeze that sails to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Falmouth. Balconies are cheap on this one.
The 2nd option is an 8 day on the conquest that sails to St Kitts, St Maarten, San Juan, and Grand Turk. All thats eft on this one is OV, Inside. The cost is about $400 more for conquest but the ports are more of what we like.
We would be flying into FLL so wither one we would have to book the same flight.
Been on both classes of ships and like them both (dream and liberty)
Someone help me make up my mind!
also, if anyone has stayed in an OV on the conquest forward or aft on deck 1 or 2 can you tell me how the room slept.
Thanks!!!

Been on Dream once and fascination twice.
I would pick the Dream. It is newer and has more bells and whistles. It does get very crowded at times.
Had a great time on Fascination but by the end of the trip on the last sea day we ran out of things to do and were bored. The weather was rainy and there's only so much trivia you can do.

I've been putting off booking too! Hoping its a super sale that I cant pass up!!!:D
-
I would actually like that, LOL. It would probably help me sleep, but I doubt I would be in bed anyway before the "disco" closed. :D
That's what we thought too. One night the music played until 5:45 am!!
Thought about sleeping on the lido deck in a lounge chair.
-
Then why risk it by booking a guarantee room again ?
Seems to me it would be more than worth it to pay slightly more to choose a cabin you will enjoy. How much would you have paid during that week to insure you could sleep soundly the rest of your cruise.
I always carefully choose my cabin - so no surprises.
Because I am CHEAP!!! But I also enjoy the quiet. its a constant inner struggle;)
-
The only reason I ask is because my wife and I cruised on the Destiny in a "night owl" room and didn't sleep the entire week due to the music from the disco. Don't want to EVER go through that again.
-
If I booked a guarantee Balcony room on Conquest, are there any rooms that I would wish that I didn't get?
Only booked a GTY room once before and got lucky but don't want to be miserable all week.
Thanks
-
Only did a guaranteed room once. Turned out great! Got a standard balcony room on the pride for less than I was going to pay for an obstructed view.
I was nervous the whole time because they didn't assign our room until the week before.
not sure I would do it again though.

No, 8 days on Sunshine to San Juan, St. Kitts,St. Thomas, and Grand Turk.7 days on Freedom to Belize, Rotan, and Cozumel. Also the freedom is about 400 cheaper.
I would choose Sunshine. St Thomas has Maegans bay which is BEAUTIFUL, Grand Turk is awesome (skip margaritaville and walk to Jacks Shack) and Old San Juan is great for sight seeing. Haven't been to St Kitts but we are looking at the same itenerary.
Ive been to Cozumel too many times and its the same ol t-shirt shops. Belize was filthy and not appealing and Roatan is ok but the free beach that carnival owns is crowded and over priced.
-
What happened? Cozumel twice?
10-12 foot seas too windy and rough to tender at belize and the captain tried to dock at costa maya for at least an hour before giving up and taking us back to cozumel.
THey gave us $14.98 each OBC for missing Belize, $1.96 OBC each for missing cozumel and 25% off a future cruise for missing the two ports.
-
Hmm what happened to the OP? Going on the Pride in 3 weeks and would love to know the answers to the above questions.
Sorry, I had to catch a plane and the CC app on my phone wouldnt let me reply yesterday.
-
Do you know what internet packages were available? Also, I read that the Pride was going to get self-service wine dispensers in the Library Bar. Could you tell me if it did?
Thanks. Hope you enjoyed your cruise.
Didnt see the wine dispensers. I normally dont use internet on the ship. It is terribly expensive and slow. Your best bet is to wait until you port and use WIFI somewhere. (most restaurants have free WIFI if you are dining there)
-
I heard Belize weather was too bad to tender?
Yes we missed Belize and Costa Maya. THe captain took us back to cozumel from 3pm to 9pm but theres only so much cozumel I can take.

How was comedy club if you went
We went once to the family friendly comedy show and it was terrible. THis was the second round of comedians. I heard from several people that the first round was hilarious
