    3. If you are looking for pictures that includes a groom, than i'm afraid I can't help you there... You see the groom didn't make it on board. He ran late so the ship left him in New York. So I figured I'd grab the next best thing, a woman.

Now THAT made me smile.....well said!!

I don't know how I missed this thread but I'm so glad to have found it! :)

A great review and a gorgeous couple! Very belated congratulations to you both and may you always be happy. :)

  2. Comfortable walking shoes - and - as already posted - prepare to get disorientated and lost.

Totally agree with previous posters! Oh....and be prepared for crowds in St Marks Square...and VERY expensive drinks prices in the Square too.....go down the side streets and find a less-touristy café/bar. ( Just my personal opinion ) But most of all.......enjoy! PS forgot to wish you a Happy 40th :) :)

  3. She's in for a dry dock in France with trips to/from Southampton

The two sailings will include one six and one seven night Iberian Peninsula itinerary. The six night itinerary will depart Barcelona, Spain on September 20, 2015 and arrive in Southampton on September 26th. The Norwegian Epic will call in Cartagena, Spain; Granada (Malaga), Spain; and Lisbon, Portugal.

The seven night sailing, which will depart Southampton on October 11, 2015, will call in Vigo, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; Granada (Malaga) and Cartagena, Spain. The ship will disembark in Barcelona on October 18th.

Single Cruiser beat me to it!! I just read that info on their facebook page! :)

  4. I enjoyed reading your review. I am looking at the Jade for a 21-day cruise stopping at some of the same ports. My DH and I have not sailed on NCL but the itinerary for this cruise is amazing so we just might book it. Thanks for the great review!

    Glad you enjoyed it! :)

21 days on board the Jade? I'm SOOO jealous! Have an amazing time! Come back and tell us all about it, please! :)

  5. Thank you for sharing! Teetering between this itinerary or the one with Croatia and Turkey. I've been to Turkey on a land tour. Never to Greece or Croatia.

You are very welcome! We were like yourselves...teetered between those two cruises. Glad we made the choice we did as the Greek Islands were just gorgeous and the cruise was VERY relaxing! Whichever you choose......enjoy! :)

  6. While I blissfully enjoyed my massage I missed a few "poofed" posts. Thanks to those who had my back. Opinions differ but I would never insult another poster calling their post stupid. Twaddle or otherwise.

No, me neither! And I don't usually involve myself in these kind of discussions either, but I can't abide rudeness, hence my post!

I just wonder why those who remove the DSC feel entitled to the same services others pay for and they make a concious effort not too.

    Couldn't agree more!

At the end of the day, isn't it a SERVICE charge?

  7. The current UK Bribery Act is very specific about offering bribes up front to try and influence service. It is certainly not recommended to pre-pay any discretionary charge.[/quote

It's not. This is what the UK Bribery Act 2010 states:

    General bribery offences

The crime of bribery is described as occurring when a person offers, gives or promises to give a "financial or other advantage" to another individual in exchange for "improperly" performing a "relevant function or activity".

Offence of being bribed, which is defined as requesting, accepting or agreeing to accept such an advantage, in exchange for improperly performing such a function or activity.

So.....unless Mr. UK here is planning on paying an NCL crew/employee to 'improperly perform'............

The bribe would be paid as a request or exchange to 'improperly perform'.

Bottom Line....I'm not stereotyping but he's from the UK and won't ever truly understand or accept the US way of service charges and tipping as they are so different in the UK than it is here.

::As a side note: In Las Vegas there are many restaurants that I've been to that have a note-card in the check folder which states something to the effect of: "To our Non-American friends - it is customary to tip your server 15-20% on your bill. We thank you for understanding the normal tipping procedures here in the USA."

    Harriet

Harriet, thank-you for that! As I said, I know I'm tired.......it's been a LONG half-term and school just finished today, but I truly could not see that the DSC could be construed as a bribe!

I'm from the UK myself but I'm of the mind that * when in Rome*........

I DID originally struggle to make head or tail of the DSC but CC helped and a bit of research of my own and I'm all good with it! :)

  8. Saying that you asked:

    Offences of bribing another personE+W+S+N.I.

This sectionnoteType=Explanatory Notes has no associated

(1)A person (“P”) is guilty of an offence if either of the following cases applies.

    (2)Case 1 is where—

(a)P offers, promises or gives a financial or other advantage to another person, and

    (b)P intends the advantage—

(i)to induce a person to perform improperly a relevant function or activity, or

(ii)to reward a person for the improper performance of such a function or activity.

    (3)Case 2 is where—

(a)P offers, promises or gives a financial or other advantage to another person, and

(b)P knows or believes that the acceptance of the advantage would itself constitute the improper performance of a relevant function or activity.

(4)In case 1 it does not matter whether the person to whom the advantage is offered, promised or given is the same person as the person who is to perform, or has performed, the function or activity concerned.

(5)In cases 1 and 2 it does not matter whether the advantage is offered, promised or given by P directly or through a third party.

Well I know I'm tired but that makes no sense to me at all! :(

(a)P offers, promises or gives a financial or other advantage to another person, and

    (b)P intends the advantage—

(i)to induce a person to perform improperly a relevant function or activity, or

(ii)to reward a person for the improper performance of such a function or activity.

The DSC surely isn't intended to induce someone to * perform improperly*?

but the best. Hard to explain. The wake. In the daytime it is pleasing and still. But at night it is magical, hypnotic and almost spiritual. Sitting out there in the still darkness, hearing the wake, is something unique and takes me somewhere. No other feeling like it in the world.
