  1. FYI,

I just called the upsell dept because I didn't receive an email and am interested in an upsell to haven from mini suite for our getaway cruise in 3 weeks. They do send the email if you ask, but only if you're eligible. It turns out some travel agents don't participate in the program, making it impossible to get an email. :( I bought through a major online cruise website and am ineligible for an upsell. This is very disappointing. I wanted to try haven for the first time this cruise.

I just wanted to pass this information along

  2. Hi,

My husband and I are sailing on the getaway 11/6 in a mini suite. I am very interested in upgrading to the haven. I unfortunately haven't received the bidding email. Has anyone that's going on a getaway or escape cruise had any success in calling the upsell dept on a getaway or escape cruise after this program started? I'm worried with this new program, they won't even allow me to pay for an upsell. I plan to call next week.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi,

My husband and I are sailing on the Norwegian Getaway in early November. We booked a mini suite guarantee and got assigned a mid ship one on deck 9 right above la cucina. The B6 balconies (large but forward) are currently priced $140 more total. We use our balconies a TON on sea days. We prefer the quiet of our balcony to the public decks.

I'm not even sure it would be allowed to pay extra to go from our mini suite to a balcony since it's not technically an upgrade. Anyone have experience with this? I don't want to lose our current perks: $100 OBC, beverage package, and 4 meal SDP.

Another option is to try and upsell to the haven at under 30 days. But I'm not willing to pay more than $1,500 total to do that. If I risk waiting, the B6 will

most likely be gone by then.

What would you do? Stay put, try for a B6 (not sure this is even possible), or try for a haven suite at under 30 days?

    Thanks in advance!!

  4. Hi,

My husband and I are going on the getaway 11/6/2016. We love seeing the comedy shows. Are they at 7p, 9p, and 11p? I made dinner reservations for the speciality restaurants for 6:30 and 7pm most nights. But I would move them if there were no shows at 9pm. 11p is too late to us. So can someone please confirm the comedy show times? Thanks!

  5. Hi,

My husband and 2 kids (9 and 6) are possibly interested in the Stars and Stripes catamaran tour offered by celebrity for our thanksgiving cruise. We mostly book private tours outside the cruiseline, but we need to spend OBC. I can't find much information on this one. Is it nice? Crowded?

It's between this excision, the pirate boat excursion, or the champagne cruise to St. John. My husband and I did the campagne cat tour a few years ago.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  6. Thanks everyone for your advice! At this point, I will wait for the southwest schedule for February to come out. Or hope prices out of ohare come down to under $500pp. I've never seen airfare so high for mid February when it's not Valentine's Day or presidents day wk! Oh well, I have learned my lesson and will try and book mid January as we usually have done in the past. Thanks again for being so helpful! :)

  7. Hi,

I have a cruise booked on the allure for my husband and 2 kids the week of 2/20-2/28. I have looked at flights (from chicago into FLL) and they are INSANE! I'm not sure why and it's concerning. We usually fly spirit because it's cheaper but it's $646/pp!!! I'm not sure if it's because it's still early? Are prices going to drop? Spirit is usually around $250-300 even in feb and mar. I don't want to pay close to $2500 for airfare.

I got a good deal on this cruise because I caught kids sale free. If I rebooked during a different time, I would have to pay $1000 more. Although that would still be cheaper than buying that outrageous airfare. So I'm not sure if I should book another time or wait. I guess my question is: is the airfare for spirit so high because it's still more than 7-8 months out?

Is there anything going on in Fort Lauderdale that week making airfare that high in mid feb? Especially on spirit?!??

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Thanks! I appreciate it! I just can't understand why they always say specifically that you can't use it for gratuities.

I didn't want to be forced to spend the OBC on cruise excursions if it's not necessary. I'm glad that it can be used for tips.
  9. Hi!

My husband and I are not new to cruising but we are new to Princess. We are looking forward to our cruise on the Ruby Princess in Feb. :)

We got $100 in onboard credit from the online company we bought the cruise from and from Princess. I know that it says it cannot be used for gratuities, but is that really true?

We don't spend much on board because we don't drink and we like to purchase excursions outside the cruiseline. I prefer the OBC be applied to gratuities, but I don't want to risk losing it, if they refuse to apply it.

So, in your experiences, can OBC be applied to tips in actuality? Thanks!
