I've done the ID NAAT one before and results came back within 45min. I also done the PCR one from Walgreens and it came back within 24hr. Though with the increase number of testing due, there might be a delay again. I've not done antigen test at Walgreen/CVS, but I've gotten results back within 15min.

Not just Canadians, but lots of AZ used in UK as well.

Just wondering if any solo cruisers who have been on a cruise since the restart and want to share their experience?
Was it harder meeting people than before?
I've cruised solo before and none of my friends are ready to go back on a cruise ship yet.

Not sure about Celebrity, but I've done it before on HAL a week before embarkation. Just had to pay the difference.

It feels a bit crowded when you compare it to the other Solstice class ships, but overall it's not that crowded. The trade off is you get better more restaurants like the Lawn Grill or that seafood place on the the top deck. I did find it a bit harder to find a table in the buffet during lunch time, but eating lunch in the MDR kinda solved that issue.

So glad this is happening. Need to push cruising back to normal ASAP (and safely). BC is not ready for tourists and glad the senate passed it quickly.

Regardless of whether it is covid related or not. I'm all for getting as many passenger as healthy as possible. We all know it sucks when the trip is interrupted because we have to turn around or stop and airlift someone off the ship.
Missed inside passage during my last Alaska trip.

There's no need for covid test or quarantine anymore to fly into Alaska, so if you really want to explore Alaska, consider booking a land trip.
I would say this would be the best year to go as there would be less tourist there.

Canadian here. No hard feelings if they suspend PVSA. I think if that is what Alaska wants, then they should push for it.
However, I'm not sure if that will happen. If you look at Alaska's (or even British Columbia's) economy, it's not primarily tourism. Their economy is primarily in the Energy sector and government spending. Tourism only takes up about 10-15%, with half of that from cruise lines. Keep in mind you can still visit Alaska with a negative COVID test.
I love cruising and I can't wait to get back on a cruise ship, but lets me honest, the cruise line only makes a small dent in AK's economy and it's not going to bankrupt the state or even BC any time soon.

No, it isn't. Name one time that Canada has done something like that to the US.
L.
Didn't we have a tariff war with the US over the summer?

Work Around?
Our Alaska cruise r/t Seattle on NCL missed Victoria because of a damaged azipod. We anchored in Canadian water but never came ashore. If this was allowed then, could it not be permitted now? That way Alaska cruises could proceed this season provided other covid protocols were in place and the CDC gave a green light.
IMO, if Alaska and the cruise lines REALLY want to sail to Alaska, they will find a way to do it. However, I don't think they're at a point where they are desperate enough to piss off the CDC.
At the end of the day if they do need more cash, they can always move their ships to other destinations and sail locally, similar to what MSC and Royal Caribbean is doing.

Makes sense. Don't think our country will be vaccinated till at least Q4 of 2021. No point opening borders.
Also, while I love cruising, I have flown into Alaska multiple times and the experience is just as great.

Me thinks I'm not being told everything.
Did you see what Canada just did? Nobody leaving Canada now.
Canada only got so strict because some couple broke the quarantine rules, which partly caused the UK variant to spread in Canada. The worse part is she is a doctor as well, so Dr. Weir should of known better.
In regards of cancelled flights, it's just direct flights. You can still get to the "sun" destinations by connecting through the US.
The $2000 quarantine hotel is an estimated up to value that the returning traveler should be prepared to paid. Whether or not it will be that much, no one knows until they actually put it into effect. No official date yet. Also, all the hotels in the area for the four Canadian airports are old run-downed motels/hotels (Hampton Inn & Ramada etc - at least for YYZ)

Based on the number of people flying, going to resorts and other vacations, I don't think the cruise ships will have an issue filling their ship (or at least breaking even) when they go back into operations.
While I wouldn't mind being on a cruise ship right now even with the revised services, I'm so tired of seeing people treating other people/staff like crap over mask policies, which makes me want to avoid crowds for a while. Also, my observation at resorts is the mask policy becomes "best effort" after a few days.
In addition, being a solo traveler on some occasions, it is also very hard to meet new people with social distancing.

Obviously this is for the 1% if they can afford a private jet. "Only" $35K CAD for 6 passengers.

Yes this was much better than the other one. Maybe we can all chip in and get LPP a set of air buds? Did anyone count the number of times "Instagramable Moment" was used?
LOL I'm sure she has one. Maybe her co-workers are too scared to bring it up...I mean she knew how to use a ring light to brighten the room. You would think every one would have figured it out by now after a year of conference calls while working from home.

Ok so Neil has finished and I'll say he was the bright spot in the evening. His sound was good and he even made fun of the "awkward silence" as things took too long to load or dead spots were present.
LLP should mic up next time to avoid all the echo. Just wearing airpods like how Neil is wearing makes a big difference.

Am I the only one who can't see any videos or slides? Lisa L pops up every once in a while. I've sent a question/comment.
Everything looks good on my end. On my Windows desktop PC using Microsoft Edge.

So I'm trying to figure out if this is just a marketing thing and there really isn't any changes to how Celebrity charges for their room (sorry if this is already covered).
When I look at the program changes, they always talk about "those who choose the Always Included", so I'm assuming you can still get the base rate? If so, how is this difference that the perks that they offered before?

I'm not a fan of the family-focus approach. Hope they don't turn into just a fancier Royal Caribbean.

Totally agree, Bruce is over the top, but keep in mind he does it to get hits to his YouTube page, i.e. $$$$. Don't wate my time on him anymore. Many of the YouTube cruise experts, Don Family Vacations, La Lida Loca, Bruce...do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. You click on their nonsense, they make $$$$. Much prefer to get my informstion from actual cruisers....
Whew, I thought I was the only one. I do sometimes click on it, but then have to close it within 15sec. The only "cruise" related channel I watch these days is ParoDeeJay.

I want to add that even if the CDC does not extend the no sail date, Celebrity will still need to coordinate crew to return to the US and quarantine on board, so the minimum would be at least 14 days after Oct 31.
-
I would still take a cruise, but nothing that is on the bucket list or exotic destination. So probably the caribbean or a private island where I can spend more time on the ship.

Sorry, I might be too late, but I used to fly out of SEA back to Canada and used Discovery Health to do my PCR test. They have multiple locations including at the DoubleTree hotel close to the airport. I think I paid about $110 for it and results came back at midnight. However, I stopped using them in the past couple of months as I can get it free at CVS/Walgreens with no insurance.
