We are going on the Independence of the Seas in March. It is a 5 day cruise. Is there anyone who has the compass for the entire cruise? Thank you in advance!
-
Anyone try a taxi cab at the pier? If so what was the cost?
-
Great question!! Looking for the same info!

Thank you ALL for your insight, advice, kind words and prayers!!

We are booked on the FOS on Sunday, June 15, and did not purchase the insurance. My father just had a stroke. Are there any options besides forfeiting the cruise?

Mid March 2014.
WOW!! A very significant change for me!
What is the recommendation now for booking?
Thank You!
-
Thanks Bob!
When did this change take place?
-
I'm booked of the FOS in a week and received my docs. yesterday.
I normally book onboard and receive $100 OBC and a reduced deposit of $100.
What is the current policy? It looks like it changed to only a $25 OBC for $100??
If this is the case......it's better waiting to the WOW sale?
Any insight?

My Dad used to say "The only stupid questions are the ones that go un-asked."
Bow = Front (also "forward")
Stern = Back (also "aft")
Port = Left
Starboard = Right
So true!
when you ask questions you receive answers!

Thank You for your comments!

Any idea why Royal doesn't offer this wonderful desert? Carnival has this and it's awesome!!! We are cruising on the FOS in June and was hoping warm melting chocolate melting cake could be an option.
-
I enjoy getting there early about 10:00, instead of waiting at the hotel and going crazy with anticipation!

Vote for deck 4 but I need to try the helipad on the front of the ship!
We normally book an inside cabin and I get my balcony fill by pulling up a chair and relaxing in the shade and close to the water.

We experienced fog in 2010.....but besides that.......it was a great experience!

Thanks for the insight on the food opportunities! I like the Fishlips!
I think we'll try and purchase the gift certificates but leave 10 days later on the 25th!
Thanks again!

Hi Preston!
What is the best restaurant to watch the ships leave port on a Saturday?
What time do they leave?
Our sail date is 3/27/11
Thanks!

I think we're on the same cruise FOS 3/27. Being as the ship is in drydock the prior week I was thinking embarkation will be a breeze since no passengers are coming off. Maybe it won't be such a long wait??
That's why I said we could arrive a little earlier and hit our routine by 11:00!!
1. Windjammer
2. Tour of the ship/check out table location in the Dinning room
3. Cabin
4. Sky Bar and a drink!
5. Relax and enjoy the band by the pool until sail a way!
YES!! We're on the same cruise!! Your from the Chicago area I think? I looked our list LOL!
I hope you start posting more! We need to spice up our thread some!

Chuck if you go there at 9:30 you will have a long wait with nothing to do. It is not like an airport. There is nothing in the terminal. I would stay at the hotel for a while.
Preston, The last time we were there, they had chairs and FREE beverages and cookies. I would be going crazy at the hotel; so I was thinking might as well be at the pier than at the hotel?? We are Diamond C&A members. Does that help?
Thanks!

Chuck I just got back from Cancun so sorry for the delay. No info on dry dock but early boarding is usually around 11. As for Saturday there is no bad choice in the port. I like Milikens.
Preston! Happy New Year! I hope you has a great time in Cancun!!
Thanks for the response! I will take your advice back to the DW!
I decided to take a cab to the pier early on Sunday! I heard they will let the cab in as early as 9:30?
We are less than 83 days until our trip!
Bye for now!

Hello Chuck - sometimes I am overwhelmed with the difference of what cabs charge - when Norm and I took our cruise, we used Michael with VIPLimo and I was really impressed at not only his service, but his charges - maybe it is because he is a local young man that knows so much and I love his honestly and caring - as for going to the ship early? It doesn't matter if it is before, after dry dock, the normal "week" is usually unchangeable so that would be your choice there - The FOS is such a beautiful ship although we haven't cruised on her yet although know a great many who have - as for going somewhere to watch the ships, the list is Grills, Fishlips, Rusty's and Milligans - my favorite has always been Grills and Rusty's
Enjoy your time here --------
Thanks Shirley! I'll shoot for 9:45 or 10:00 to arrive at the pier! and check out Grills and Rusty's

Sorry you cannot. It is not that far but the highway prevents it. Let the Radisson shuttle take you all over. If you attempt to drive in you may encounter traffic.
I have several questions since our cruise is approaching and i have time on my hands!
Thank you for the info! I called a few cab companies from your list on page 1 and the rate of a cab is $8 to $16! I was thinking of some exercise time before the cruise! LOL!
What is the earliest time we can take a cab to the Freedom? The week before 3/20 our week, the freedom is dry docked. I was thinking, we might be allowed to arrive early because there will be no traffic to fight with? What do you think on a normal week and the dry dock week?
Where would you eat to watch the ships sail on Saturday and time?
Thanks!!! This is an awesome thread!
