  1. Nobody thought Walt Disney World would ever offer wifi either. But it rolled out and has been a huge perk that has brought them plenty of customer good will. I would not be surprised if it does happen eventually.

Did WDW ever charge for wifi????

Its pretty easy for a company on land to offer free wifi..especially if it was never a profitable revenue stream

  2. That was my first thought, that Carnival set it up to fail.

Hmm, I dont see it that way, they are just covering themselves. Im sure the program will be a success and it will go fleetwide in the next coming months.

If they didnt want it, they didnt have to even do a trial.

I cant think of any trial they started, that didnt end up being implemented. Worse case they will tweak the program if they see its not as successful as they anticipated.

  3. Couples can't share unless they are in separate cabins. That is why they require everyone in the same cabin, over 21, to purchase the program. It's all or none.

I'm still a little mystified on the ships they have chosen to introduce this on. The Victory is port intensive, The Splendor has a hard time filling cabins because people think Mexico is evil, The Breeze is in Europe and the Spirit is going to Australia, starting with a leg to Hawaii beginning Sept 18.

There, how's that for being on topic.:p Seriously, does it make sense to anyone else?

It makes perfect sense to first try it out on these ships. If they lose money on these ships, its not likely they would go fleetwide.

  4. The diameter of the key and the opening are the same size so you have to nail the placement. We were on the Splendor the week of Jan 29 and the machine was packed the first few days, then use faded as the week went on. Three prizes were won that week, $100, $200 and an iPad plus $500. There is another game in the arcade that had iPod touch and gift cards available. Both machine are a buck a try

    Maybe that's a west coast thing..lol

Its been the opposite on my cruises...it get more popular as the cruise goes on. At times there are 20+ people watching and waiting to play.

Im curious, how are you finding out how many people won?

  5. That's what I was thinking, that there is something a little rigged. I think the machine is set to pay off every so often. Because you'd see people get so close, and it seemed like the key would drop just a bit or raise just a bit. You are one of the lucky ones.

They dont really have to rig it....you just have to place the key in the exact spot or you wont win. That alone is a feat in itself.

  6. This sounds like a good deal, and sounds very secure. Has anybody actually stayed here? Just wondering what the hotel is like in case we wanted to come in the day before.:)

Radisson at the Port is a nice hotel. Lots of reviews on this forum and trip advisor.

The deal sounds good, but the shuttle over would be the only issue. Since you have to sign up for the shuttle to the port, anyone using this service probably wouldnt be able to get a slot until after 12pm. The hotel guests would get all the early times.

If getting to the port early isnt an issue. Its $1 cheaper than park n cruise, which will get you from their lot to the ship as early as 10:30ish.

  7. I need to get clarification about the new passport rules to see if I need to obtain one this year or if I can wait.

I am booked for a cruise for April 22-29 flying from Tennessee to Florida. The cruise goes to Nassau,Bahamas, ST.Thomas and St. Marten. Do we need to purchase passports or not?

    Thanking you in advance.:D

It would be a good idea to get them, but they arent required yet. You can still cruise with a BC and DL
