  1. Hi

We want to get on the first NCL ferry to St George do don’t want to stand in line for tickets in the Dockyard. Can we get tokens or tickets in the St George ferry terminal? What to have tickets /tokens avaliable in case there is no mini buses going to Clearwater beach. We are only planning to go to beaches and maybe Hamilton once so passes are not really needed.

    thanks

  2. I could never justify getting UBP even as perk our bill is under 100$ for both as we have kids with us. We usually dink wine or beer so usually bring 2 bottle and pay 15$ fee plus get the beer bucket. I might get one or two frozen drinks that are a drink of a day. We also did tastings not sure if it would be covered by UDP. If we were to go with a group of other adults it would probably worth it but not as a family vacation.

  3. Sandy - I just purchased a 12 pack of 1 liter bottles, and the charge was $34.98. Is that the "new, lower price" ? Or, should I be trying to figure out how to get a refund ? Sailing in 42 days on the Jade. BTW on my February 2017 CCL cruise, the bottled water was $4.90 for 12 1/2 liter bottles. Staggering difference. Thanks

    That's the new price

  4. The majority who come here are all talk. I couldn't fathom wasting time "watching" a chair either. Ridiculous!

When on gem I would take a chair and sit but look around to see if someone is leaving, since my son I using the slide I would have to stay by the pool and watch him no choice standing or sitting, if I can't find lounger. Usually I would find the lounger in 10-15 minutes. Worse can I can ask pool attendant then they will find a spot for me. I would not touch someone's else belongings. I did saw a group of 3 come over and take 6 chairs. When I did not see them comeback for hours I told the attendant and he cleared the items. We are a family of 3 and I never take 3 chairs 2 at most, usually me and DH just take turns watching our son.

  5. Just an update I emailed the lattitude office they emailed me back virtually straight away to say checked my booking and it is latitude offer and I will get my extra points when I disembark plus other points so happy days. I will reach my platinum level at end of next cruise as I hoped I would.

What is the latitude email ? Thanks

  6. Hmmm..i am currently booked on the Breakaway Nov 5 sailing. Do i need to bug my TA and switch to this new offer and risk loosing all of the existing perks or is this something that NCL will handle automatically?

I also noticed this on the new FAQ page link that was posted above:

I thought NCL was going to honor all existing bookings. Does this mean i will no longer receive double points for booking the Escape and Gem for 2018 sailings (that i booked last month!!) I thought NCL posted on facebook, they will honor all existing booking booked before Feb 3

I don't see this offer available today. Still show the old latitude offer

    Never mind it's there

  7. Gem has outdoor barbecue by the pool which is really good. The buffet has crepes for dinner until around 9-9:30 we used to get some if we had early dinner with no deserts. The great outdoor is fabulous , try to get a spot if you can. The "la cucina" restaurant provides extra sitting for the buffet breakfast and usually empty. It's at the back next to buffet where the rear elevators are. There is a tiny sigh for it it will also lead to great outdoors.

  8. When the freestyle concept was introduced every other line had traditional dining only. That was why we started with NCL.

As the ships got bigger & reservations became required we felt left out of various activities because before our 1st voyage on a mega ship we didn't make any reservations in advance. Then by the time we boarded we were closed out of everything. That sucked.

For our 2nd mega-ship trip we made the required reservations in advance but that was simply annoying. On vacation we prefer not to schedule anything more than a few minutes in advance which no longer works on NCL. We had to be here & there at specific times. It made freestyle -- which I enjoyed as "unscheduled" -- feel a lot less free.

My life is measured by where I have to be all the time during the work week so the lack of structure on vacation was appealing.

After this next cruise we're probably going to take a break from cruising for a while, or at least switch lines, but it would take an awful lot to get us back on a mega ship. Too much structure. Didn't feel like "freestyle" at all but an extension of my regimented life.

Other people are happy with this system. The system won't change so we have to take it or leave it.

    Agreed

  9. The ice cream is in the buffet so it will be available most hours the buffet is open (not sure if it starts around lunch time and exactly how late it is around). They have pizza in there and the taste/quality was average at best. Room service pizza was hit or miss. The miss was way under cooked. Interesting to see some of the pizza types they come up with like pizza with corn on it.

Ice cream is also available as dessert item in all the restaurants. We also loved crepes in the buffet, available from 5-9pm.

  10. We just came back from gem 10 day from nyc. For show come 10 before to get a pick of a seat but we always been able to find a place to seat the balconies always had space unless you late then it's just harder to see what's free. The specialty we had no problem they seemed to had space every time we went . I would pre reserve if it's free or you have SDP. Otherwise do it when you get on. We were able to book le bistro on the day before last for 7pm on 5 night no problem. The only place that we had problem getting was orchid garden. It free and it's like Chinese place. If you want to try it book it on the first day.

Disembarkation in San Juan was horrible if you just want to walk around wait a little bit to get the masses out. We wanted to get to El Moro so we stand in line for 30 min.

  11. On the gem in ia bistro we order the main course for my son because we knew he likes it. We were planning to pay a la carte price as we has sdp. We were not charged. I did not asked questions on why I knew it's possible. His item was on the bill but all was zeroed out. He only are half maybe that's why.

Ps. The kids menu is too boring . I wish kids could order from the main dinning hall room menu when dinning in speciality.
