  1. It is new as of December '13. For $20 a day you get unlimited premium coffee, premium tea, fresh squeezed juice (incl squeeze), non alcoholic cocktails (including frozen but not ice cream/milkshakes), 500ml bottled water, 375 ml sparkling water, soda with cup. Coffee does not include Starbucks on Oasis/allure but does include Starbucks drinks on freedom since it's in cafe promenade. Did read it was tall size hot and grande cold drinks but you can order more than 1. The $20/day includes gratuity and not all have to buy in the stateroom.

Did you read this somewhere "official" from RCI, or on CC? DD *LOVES* Starbucks and if it's included, that takes care of any lasting doubts I have of getting the replenishment package.

  2. depends which cruise ship is, as there are ships who match local Cozumel central time and some do not

But here's the problem... RCI's website shows us arriving at 10am (we cruise in June FWIW). So is the website showing local time or ET (we cruise from PC)?

  3. If you can afford to cruise, you can afford to get a passport.

If you can afford to cruise, you can afford to get a suite.

If you can afford to cruise, you can afford to get the drink package.

If you can afford to cruise, you can afford to go on excursions.

If you can afford to cruise, you can afford to fly in the day before your ship departs.

Is a passport beneficial? Maybe. But I don't like the argument "if you can afford the trip, you can afford the passport".:p

  4. $21 gets you admission to the park.

Apparently I can't link the site to book the Dolphin swim, but some googling should be able to find it for you.

  5. I have done the swim there before and booked direct. I had heard in the past you had to book thru the ship. Can you now book direct again?

We booked direct for June 2013. Getting ready to do so for our trip this June.

  6. RCI should be cleaning all the cabins as if they are infected... always, especially if there is even 1 outbreak on a sailing. If they did they might find less of a problem. My DH is a responsible adult and did not go out and about and infect anybody.

Wouldn't that require multiple days? That's what they're going to do with Ex, right?

  7. Trying to plan our port stay in Cozumel. The ship is supposed to arrive at 10am. That's ET, right? Cozumel is on CT. So we arrive at 9AM "local". We can book the dolphin discovery at 10AM (which should be 'local' time). Assuming we're ready to get off the ship when it docks, we shouldn't have a problem, right?

The next program we can schedule is 1PM (2PM ships time). Would you feel safe booking the 10AM (family of 5 with three kids).

  8. Having read the posts on here, I don't understand why people need to belittle and bash a person for saying something on here.

The OP doesn't deserve the mean nature of many of the replies.

I don't get it at all.

The old saying still should apply, if you can't say anything nice at all, then don't say it.

    What's wrong with respectfully disagreeing?

Agree with posters who are perplexed about why there is so much uproar.

If you feel like a person is trolling, then report the person to the mod's and let them make that determination.

Isn't it hypocritical to criticize folks for being in an "uproar" over what someone posted? Aren't you getting in an "uproar" over what THEY posted? It's okay for you to have a problem with what people say but other need to just accept others opinions?

  9. It depends on how many people are in your party. They are very expensive. Hopefully others can give you a breakdown of the exact cost for the amount of people you have.

They do take TONS of pictures and will include EVERY picture that has you in it (even when others are in the pictures too).

I agree with the first sentence, disagree with the second.

    As of June 2013...

    # in party Cost

    1 $99

    2 $119

    4 $179

DW & I did this in June and got 54 pictures between the two of us for our $119. That comes out to ~$2.20/picture. A little high? Sure. But I think it's reasonable. MUCH better than what the ship charges for pictures.

Another thing you can do to save costs is combine groups. Additional CDs are (were) $10 each. So if DW & I combined with another couple, it would have cost $189 for two CDs... $95 for each couple vs. $119. The only problem with this is you have images of folks that aren't in your travelling party, but so what?

And WE selected the pictures we wanted. They had a photographer taking all the pictures in our group, than we were responsible for selecting the ones with us.

  10. I agree, it would slow down crowds and large ships would need many, but as far as I am concerned it is a small price to pay to compensate for the fact that many adults practice poor personal hygiene.

I wonder if those machines JUST use cleaning solution or if ultraviolet light is employed as well. Certain UV lights can kill virus as well.

I said in another tread, will say here, would be plenty happy if Windjammer went to all staff service / no self-serve. Less food waste, less illnesses.

If someone isn't washing their hands when leaving the bathroom, what makes you think they'd use these?

  11. Nothing productive can come from this. Why don't you guys just apologize to each other and be done with it? This post has gotten personal in many ways. It's just opinions and words people. S@-t$ and giggles people.

You might want to read the thread again. That was my first post on here. I don't mind people having opinions, but be logical and don't contradict what you said earlier. That's what I was pointing out. I never got personal. As you said "it's just opinions and words."

  12. Look, My opinion is that the cruise is not what the paying guests expected the vacation to be. It may or may not be the fault of the cruise line. That fact will probably never be known for sure. The best customer service would be for RCCL to give a 100% refund for this cruise. I never said they should provide a future cruise and I do not think they need to do that. Those are words put in my mouth. If some feel this is not a logical conclusion, so be it but it is my opinion. :8

    From the OP...

GMA is reporting this morning that after talking to passengers on board the Explorer of the Seas the situation on board is much worse than originally reported. They also reported that they are only refunding 50% of the cruise and offering 50% credit on future cruise. IMO that is a horrible compensation. The passengers that were not ill had a totally ruined vacation. They deserve a paid vacation for their troubles! ... and the poor sick passengers surely deserve a full refund. This is a horrible situation. I have four very good friends that are on that ship. I can't wait to see them on Thursday and get the real story. I will post a full review as reported by them.

Sure sounds like you feel they should get a future cruise.

You even admit in a later post this may not be RCI's "fault". While I agree it would be a good PR move to refund this cruise and give them a future cruise, is that the best BUSINESS decision?

  13. So maybe I ought to bump the shuttle back to 8:30... If they let you hang around and have breakfast in your room or WJ etc. Or is it herd into public areas and wait?

I don't think they do room service breakfast on disembarkation day. Only certain venues are open to get food and only for so long.

Question for the OP... how were the waits for the flow rider? Any "not to miss" shows?

  14. Hi. My family and I (my elderly parents - ages 78 & 80 - my 80 y/o mother is in a wheelchair and cannot go up or down steps) will be in Labadee in Dec. 2015. I would like to reserve an accessible cabana for them that has privacy and a beautiful view . Can anyone tell me how to reserve a cabana with privacy and beautiful views? Most likely this will be the only port that we will be able to enjoy because of mobility issues. Thank you!

I don't know what your "privacy" requirements are, access to all the cabanas are limited to those with cabanas. I'd say they all have good views, some are just better than others, but that would be a preference issue.

My suggestion would be calling RCI and booking a cabana over the phone. Hopefully the person taking the reservation can make a note about the "no stairs" requirement.

If you're in a suite, you can email the concierge.

  15. If you don't want the cruise company to be able to search your possessions, wouldn't the logical answer be "don't cruise"?

You may not like it, you may think it's a violation of your rights (which it's not), but if you don't want it to happen, then don't cruise. Simple, right?

  16. where the pictures printed or on a cd? did you have to hang around waiting long to view your pictures to decide if you wanted to buy? I am the only one doing dolphin encounter not sure what all pictures will cost.

A CD with all the pictures you pick out is $99. If you can find another single or couple in your group, become a "threesome" or a couple. A duplicate CD is only $10 more. So if you "pair up" with another single, the first disk os $119. The second disk is $10 for a total of $129. Compare that to each single paying $99 each.

NOTE: All prices listed are from June 2014. They may have changed.

  17. What I usually do when I see one of these adorable kids in their Pietri dish pools I lean over and act like I'm telling then how adorable they are and then I whisper in their ear that the reason the cabins are so small is so that the monsters under their bed will be afraid to come out into the room when mommy turns the lights out..works every time

Is that supposed to be humorous?
