  1. I took my almost 4 year old years ago (she 9 now) and she had a blast! I was the one almost in tears!!! I let her go for an hour and sat outside the door, on the stairs, reading a book. I went back in and she didnt want to leave. She begged to go back every day. Turned out great as I could watch an evening show, then go back and get her. She went for an hour or 2 every night.

Our last cruise, at age 8, she spent 50% of the cruise at the kids club!!

  2. Everyone over 21 in the cabin has to buy it

Ill be on the Valor in May. Ill be sailing with 2 sons, 22 and 19 and a daughter 9. We will have 2 rooms. We wanted myself hubby and daughter in one room, and sons in another. I was surprised (and probably misinformed, but its too late now) that because neither of the boys is 25, they would need someone 25 or older booked in the room.

So....I booked myself, daughter and 22 YO in my room, and hubby and 19yo together.

(Here is where I get back to the topic!!)

DS 22 does not drink, cant drink (meds), thinks the taste of alcohol is disgusting! Would I have to get the cheers program for him because he is in my room? Hubby wouldnt be a problem because of the 19 to in his room.

Not even sure we'll get it, but was definitely planning on the soda card. Ill have to do the math on about 4 drinks per day plus the cost of the soda card per day.

  3. I just booked one on the Sunshine for next year and I booked it for 2 people. They are sold out through April I got the last one. They are only 20.00 more pp than the reg scenic oceanview room and 60 more st ft. I too had been working with my PVP through email for weeks. I do plan on changing over to a May date though once they come out. I booked the past guest rate in order ot be able to change without a fee.

Yes, of the two GRAND Scenics, 9200 is for 4 people, 9201 is for 2 people.

Of the 4 Scenics, 9197 is for 2, all the rest are for 4.

Enjoy your cruise and your room!!!:)

  4. Im going to be in 9200 in 3 months (Valor)! My sons will be in the room to the left of 9201 (9197 ???) It is Scenic, but only for 2 people. I wanted them to the right of me, but those scenics are for 4 people and they would not allow only 2 to book it. Of the 4 rooms in between 9200 and 9201, only 9197 is for 2. All the rest have to be booked with 4 people.

    9200 was 6K, 9197 was 6J.

  5. Congrats but its marketing nothing is for free....

You say your a family of 7, do you realize that 1k really doesn't help hardly at all when you have to pay for cruise fare, tips, fees/taxes, onboard expenses, soda cards, cocktails for all the members of your cruise, not mentioning you most likely need two staterooms. I say Carnival surely has a great marketing program to get people's money so I not see it as a good thing.

    Are you OK?

This person booked a trip for a couple, not including the kids. Carnival had no way of knowing there are 5 kids at home. The prize was, before entering the contest, $1000. You can easily go on a 3 - 4 day Carnival cruise out of FL with $1000. Not everybody has onboard expenses and/or drinks soda. Do you want to know another way Carnival can get your money? By not having a contest and having all of the winners pay an extra $1000, which, BTW, can be used on their upcoming trip that they would have had to pay for winning the contest or not.

Sorry, OP....Congratulations! Awesome win! Im very happy for you!!:)

  6. Entered the week-long Awesome-cation sweepstakes every day. On our way home from church today, I got the email notifying me that I had won.

Wife and I are cruising in Nov for our 2nd cruise. Kids have been begging for a cruise, but we saw no way we could afford to take us, and our 5 kids. With a $1000 gift card, I think we can make it happen sometime in the next couple years.

    We're very excited.:D

Congratulations! That is awesome! Nice to see these contests are real and real people are winning! Enjoy your Nov. vacation and future vacation w/the kids!:)

  7. You didn't really just say that, LOLOLOL!!! OMG. Dude.....this ship is in port.

The cruise we will be taking is 7 night Southern Caribbean. Other than 1 day during the cruise, we will be "in port" every day.

And for the record...it would be "Dudette". :D

  8. I surprised my daughter once with a vacation (to Disney). I didnt tell her at all. I told her about a month ahead of time I made an appt with the dentist and I would be dimissing her from school. A couple of days ahead of time I reminded her that on "Friday" I was going to dimiss her for the dentist. The day of, I told her I would be picking her up at 10:30am, which I did and she didnt suspect a thing until she got to the car and hubby was inside with suitcases in the back. She looked so confused!!! I broke the news to her and she went crazy!!!!!:D

She was only 8, so I did all the packing (at night after she slept and kept the suitcases in my closet). It sure was nice not hearing "How many more days?" and a bunch of questions ahead of time!

  9. Thanks for these pictures. I have 2 sons staying in 9197. They dont care what the room looks like, but if I had to do it over again, I think I would have picked something different. It never dawned on me their only view would be probably of another cruise ship! They'll never really be looking at water and/or island! Im in 9200, which seems to be at an angle so I can see something other than another huge ship in front of me!!! Oh well, they dont/wont care and we are close to eachother!

  10. Congrats!! Come back and share some more pics with me please =)

I fell in love with this room when I seen it! Wish all ships had something similar available.

I will post pics, but my cruise is still 10 months away. My boys have a cabin nearby..Scenic Oceanview. (not grand). I cant wait to see that one. I havent been able to find any photos.

I fell in love with the room too and ran to the phone to book it before it was gone! Nice category for "oceanview". Almost suite- like without the price!!

  11. I started wondering about the PR thing too yesterday. I read someones post about 1/2 the ship having PR residents. It didnt bother him, just an observation, and it wouldnt bother me, but I started to think about my daughter being at the Carnival Camp and the kids not being able to communicate with her because of the language difference.

This is also my first cruise out of somewhere other than the Mainland USA. Im wondering too what the food will be like considering they stock up in PR. Ive been to PR before on a land vacation and even their burgers taste different than ours! Their seasonings are much different. This might be interesting!! :)

  12. I would still like to know what the room looks like. It appears just a slight bit wider in the window area than a regular ocean view. How far out did you have to book in order to get that corner room? I sort of like looking straight ahead anyway. One benefit...though we'll lose that extra width.

I literally booked this about 8 hours ago for a May 2013 sailing. The other corner room was already taken. I would have also liked my boys next to me, but only 9197 was available in those middle rooms, which will be 3 doors away from mine. I will have 4 of us in the 9200 room and the space was perfect, not to mention the great price! The only thing not so great is its far from the stairs/elevator. I kind of like being close to stairs/elevator and closer to the Promanade deck. Oh well...I have more space!!!

Last month, I sailed out of Boston, 20 minute drive from where I live, to Bermuda (this was the one and only stop, but the ship was "parked" there for 3 days). Airfare to San Juan plus the Carnival cruise is still cheaper than what I paid on Norwegian for just the cruise!

Im super excited, May cant come fast enough!

  13. We are booked on the Valor for next March in 9197 and 9199. Does anyone have pictures of what those rooms look like? And, how does the size of these regular straight on Scenic Ocean View rooms differ from the regular OV rooms? Anyone know the size difference?

Id like to know too! Im booked in 9200, but I have 2 sons in room 9197. Im assuming they are like every other exterior excepr instead of the square window, its one single window tht slants out slightly and is floor to ceiling. The room description shows 9197 is the same size (220 sq ft I think) of all the other oceanview rooms.

Lets see how well they clean! Leave us a note under the mattress and Ill see if I get it in May!!!!!!!!!
