  1. Reading your review, I enjoyed reliving our 2017 visit to Egypt with Uniworld. Itinerary was almost the same. It was such a fantastic journey. We also had lunch at the Mena House. I wish we would have stayed there while visiting the pyramid precinct, even though the Four Seasons is so luxurious. As I type this I can see one of the papyri from the Papyrus museum that we had framed to hang on the wall. Definitely a tricky time now to be traveling in the Middle East, though.

Attached is the Oceania Currents for 11/09/2023 and 11/10/2023.  I have more however since they change every week, I thought providing two would give most folks the information they usually need.

    Hope it helps.

Cruise well and enjoy every moment.

Thanks for these. Do you have one for a sea day?

  3. Re: DrKoob's comment on walking tracks -- is there much of a track on R class ships? We will be on Regatta in April with 3 sea days, so I will really want a place to walk.

I'm another cruiser enjoying Dr.Koob's posts. We enjoyed a similar itinerary a few years ago on HAL.

    1st O cruise, Regatta, 2016.

Cuisine, really was the finest.  Polo, Toscana, MDR all just wonderful. Complimented Toscana Maitre D. -- Italian guy; ( can't remember name, but a real great host ) -- on such a fine meal, service and presentation, and he invited us back.  Got an extra res in Polo also.  Lobster Mac and cheese best ever, never to be repeated on 3 other O cruises.

This may seem funny, but the scrambled eggs in MDR breakfast were the best I had ever eaten, and also never to be repeated on 3 other O cruises (or anywhere--not even at home)  Must have had a terrific head/exec chef onboard, who taught galley staff how things should be.

    Fellow passengers were so personable.

Afternoon Tea, lectures, shows all fine.  Anyone remember Sandy Cares? Enjoyed her presentations on1st and then again on subsequent voyage (dif. ship ).

Bulgari toiletries replenished many, many times, not really needing them.  Brought alot home.  Cabin steward (female) took very good care of us.

Could go on, but we will be back on Regatta later this year, after a 4 year hiatus.

We will be on the April 20 sailing for our first O cruise. Haven’t cruised since 2018, mostly due to COVID. Really looking forward to it!

Please don’t give up on anything before you experience it yourself onboard. We sailed on the Sirena in April and the service in the GDR during the breakfast time was great if we compared it to our previous sailings on the O ships. Not everything was perfect but the omissions if ever happened were corrected promptly. The staff was eager to please and every request was met with a smile.

After I wrote that, I had the same thought. Service can vary from sailing to sailing, I would think.

  6. Any recommendations for Manzanillo? How do you get from port to interesting part of town? Weighing spending a beach day at Karmina Palace Resort Hotel (Oceania excursion) vs DYI in town.  We enjoy historical places, picturesque places and unique stores. Will have enough souvenir shopping at other ports, I’m sure. If we are lucky with good weather, we would enjoy a beach day at one of the ports.

  7. We are contemplating the Los Angeles (San Pedro) to Los Angeles Bridge to Mexico. Experienced cruisers but new to Oceania. We're interested because of the itinerary and relative small size of the ship (Regatta). My question is: is there a way to find out the price of each excursion? I've found the descriptions of the excursions but no prices. Trying to figure out whether to take the offer of "free" excursions or the $600 obc.

PS Rather surprised to see so many negative comments about the food. But not everyone has been displeased.

  8. Gosh. We’ve been to Vienna twice with Uniworld, in the “old days.” The concert was included on both (although one was not private) and a culinary walking tour was included on one itinerary. Of course, I don’t know what included tours were offered.

Anyway, I will enjoy hearing about your trip.
