You must request each reservation number separately.

Were on the same reservation.  We just paid separately.  My hope is that all $ goes where is came from.  It sounds like thats what they plan to do anyway.  Ive just never been in this situation.  Thank you for the response.

I spent over ninety minutes on the phone with Royal today.  I requested Lift and Shift for our cancelled July 6 Mariner sailing.  It was refused because the original cabin category is for three people, although it was available to our party of two when we booked it on May 5.  It is not booked for next year’s sailing, but not available to book at this time for two people.  They refused to move us into the same cabin, and that was a deal breaker for us.  I had carefully listened to Ken’s explanation of FCCs and knew that would not work for us, so I then requested a refund.  I asked if I would receive a confirmation of the refund request and was told the booking number would be the link to the status of the cancellation and of the refund.  Can someone tell me how to access this information without another phone call to Royal?  I don’t mind waiting for the refund, once I have verified that my refund request was recorded.

I received an email stating that I requested a refund within 10 minutes.

  3. EU entry ban extended until June 15th

The EU entry ban for non-essential trips is extended by 30 days – that is, until June 15, 2020. That curtails all unnecessary travel of people to Europe from third countries (i.e. all EU Member States, all members of Schengen and the U.K.). However, there are some exceptions. You can check here if you fall under one of the exception positions if you would like to travel to the Netherlands soon.

I seem to recall you too are on Brilliance out of Amsterdam.  We were/are scheduled to fly to Amsterdam June 9 arriving June 10.  Original flight was TPA to AMS direct but a week or so ago I received an email changing the flight TPA to ATL to AMS and returning via ATL June 30.  On Amsterdam site it states if you arrive at AMS airport you are not permitted to depart airport thus no way to join a cruise in June 12.  Waiting for RCCL to bite the bullet and cancel so we can make alternate plans.

Thats funny, we too are on the direct flight (Detroit to AMS) leaving on June 9.  We did not receive any notification of changes.  There is only one flight listed to AMS on Delta right now for that day.

  5. I just got off the phone with cruise air (not a good experience). I was checking my flights on Delta and there were no reservations listed.  The woman from cruise air tried to convince me that they still existed.  After 20 minutes she said they did not exist and she needed to rebook flights, when questioned as to why when my June 12th cruise should be cancelled, she adamantly stated "this cruise is not cancelled."  When I indicated I cant leave the airport for 14 days, she stood firm that she needed to find me new flights at the same fare.  I tried to explain to her that my flights were not chosen for the fare, but by the date, time and convenience of a direct flight, yes it was double the price, but it was easier for me and my toddler. Well in the end I told her don't make any changes, keep my flights the way you saw them when I first called, I'll wait for royal to cancel my cruise.

I believe you are on Brilliance too.  Amsterdam site says we would not be allowed to exit airport to go to cruise terminal or hotel.  I cancelled all excursions and our dining package but am waiting for Royal to cancel air and cruise.

Yes we are on Brilliance as well.  My flight is not even listed on Delta any more.  I think you're right, I will cancel my cruise planner items right now.

If you usually fly out of Detroit, try Windsor.  We got tickets from Windsor to AMS for $550 ea on Air Canada.  Although, we do have a 90 minute layover in Toronto it is still worth a $1,000 on each ticket. Pretty decent times too.  We leave at 6:30pm and arrive at 10:00am.  You can save a lot more if you drive to Toronto, however time is money.

Thanks for the suggestion. If it was just me I’d do it in a heart beat but the drive with a 3 year old. I actually just checked air to sea and my price was down to 1100. So I book the refundable rate with fingers cross it goes down.

  8. Thank you Pattycat. This really gives me some idea of what we want to do. I do have a question regarding Helsinki. We were looking to take the 3 sights excursion listed on Royal Caribbean. But we also wanted to shop the esplanade specifically Louis Vuitton. Would you say that's a long walk. I will have my 1 year old with me in a stroller. Any guidance on how you got to the shopping area will be appreciated.

  9. My sister and I stayed at the Crown Plaza for a week in 2011. It was a great experience. The hotel was very clean and was more American with the traditional beds size instead of twin beds. We actually used public transportation and we got our tickets from the concierge desk at the hotel. The bus stop was a short walk from the hotel. The hotel also provided a free shuttle service near the city center and near the Vatican if I remember correctly, which we used each day. While others make detour you from staying far away from the tourist attractions, I actually disagree. Staying in the community was a far greater experience then staying amongst other tourist. We ate dinner at a restaurant that was walking distance from the hotel and we also ate several meals at the hotel itself. We were able to book a day trip to Florence that picked us up right at the hotel and brought us back. The crown plaza worked well for our needs.
