  1. We cruised Carnival last year. My partner and I were treated no differently than anyone else.....after all we pay the same price for pictures as everyone else. We ended up buying a lot of pictures. We were also treated great by housekeeping and the wait staff. We met a special bar maid that we did most of our business with. Have fun!

I completely agree with the statement above.

We had two different photographers take a bunch of photos on our Legend cruise during formal night. The great thing is that you only pay for what you like and don't have to pay for the sitting. I've heard that the photographer gets a small cut out of what is bought, so they have every reason to be as nice as they can be, and to make sure the pictures come out great.

One thing you may have to worry about is other cruisers... we made sure we went early before there were a lot of crowds. Even though we've never had a problem with other cruisers, we didn't want to create a scene while having the pictures taken.

  2. This is just a general observation with a few follow up questions -

I've now been on 4 Carnival cruises and on every cruise there's been a GLBT or Friends of Dorothy Meeting listed on the FunTimes (Carnival's daily events brochure if you've never been on Carnival). There's always been one listed for every day of the cruise, but my husband and I only go to the one on the first night... and we're the only ones that go!

We've also never seen any signage or Carnival staff to organize the meeting at the specified spot... But we do always notice more than one gay couple on the ship, so we know they're on board.

Do people just not go on the first night? Is it a Carnival thing? Do people just not go to these meet and greets in general?

  3. When we booked the Elation while sailing the Paradise a few days ago, we saw on the computer on the Future Cruise Desk that the Elation will be in dry-dock from 9/25/14 to 10/5/14.

We verified this on the Carnival booking engine later; there are no cruises available for those dates.

When we went to the future cruise seminar, the guy doing it said all of the ships will be getting all of the upgrades eventually... not sure what he was referring to exactly though.

  4. We've got an Canon T2i. We got a smaller Canon 16g SD camera for Christmas this year. We were getting ready to buy a Canon underwater case for around 300.00, but we found a MUCH cheaper alternative on Amazon. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to link it directly, but here is a picture of it.

It's 19.99 and it's a Polaroid waterproof housing for any camera. The back of the housing is a very flexible plastic so you can manipulate the buttons, zoom, and snap functions. It worked perfectly. There were a number of folks who had problems with it because they put their cameras wrist wrap through the casing and outside of the case......making the waterproof function void. Either way, it was 19.99 WELL spent.

I don't know why/how I hadn't found this before when I was looking for a waterproof case!! Thanks so much - this will definitely be worth it for our spare camera.

  5. You're a week late - or I'm a week early... I'll be on the 1/12/14 cruise - I've also posted here for Carnival roll calls in the past and never gotten much of a response; I'm thinking it's a combination of the time of year I've been cruising and that there aren't as many gays going on Carnival cruises as compared to other lines.
