  1. Just found out gf has a cardiac issue unable to travel scheduled to take Serenade out of Boston 10/22

we have insurance so fare will be paid by insurance company

I have booked spa and chef dinner. Question is do I need to cancel myself or when trip gets cancelled will those things be automatically returned to card?  First time cancelling after 57 cruises

guess I should not feel bad

  2. I am also widowed and was 62 when I did my first solo cruise. It actually had been booked before by husband passed, I asked several friends and no one either could get time off or chose to go. I might add by husband had only been gone for 7 months but we were Diamond and I knew he would want me to go. I think it was good for me and I had an excellent time. I did a 9 day Canada/New England. I called the Crown and Anchor and made sure they knew why I was traveling alone and asked for fixed late sitting at a large table and single people if possible. Well table 8/ 3 couples and lovely MoM of one couple from England. I went to Diamond lounge first night and saw a woman sitting alone (70ish) , introduced myself and asked if she was alone, she was. We met for a drink each evening. I signed up for tours where I felt I would meet people. I think I was never alone , unless I chose to be. In fact, I meet another woman my age who was with a church group but alone and told her I had made dinner reservations at Chops . She met me for dinner and and realized she had a complimentry dinner for 2 so not only was it a nice evening but free for me as well.

I have been on 1 cruise and 1 in 2 weeks with family but will not hesitate to travel alone again in the future

  3. I just returned from solo cruise on RCI they had 2 solo lunches and 1 evening event. I choose to not attend. I am diamond and was welcomed by all. Actually almost never alone unless I wanted to be. I went to Chefs Table solo and felt comfortable with couple next to me. I had asked for traditional dinner late sitting with solos but that did not happen. This was a Canada /New England cruise not sure if makes any diffferance. I would definitely do this again

  4. We did a transatlantic from Rome on Celebrity December 2013. Rome was sweatshirt weather, low 50's during the day. I am from New England however so any temp over 30 I don't ever wear a coat. Our cruise went south and crossed at same latitude as Fort Lauderdale, we hit one evening when it was "hold onto walls " just to walk but other than that very smooth sailing

  5. I am also a widow and had planned a cruise before my husband died (6months ago) I leave in less than 3 weeks solo. I think of this as an adventure, if I hate it well I won't ever do it again but nothing ventured nothing gained. I have booked traditional dining and asked for a large table. I am diamond on Royal carribean so plan to go to the diamond cocktail event each evening. I have been on over 20 cruises and feel I am very comfortable on cruise ships

  6. I have a cabin booked on Brillance in September 2015, final payment is due soon. My problem is the cruise was booked for 2 my husband and myself, he passed away rather suddenly in February, I am planning on still taking cruise but possible cabinmate will not know know until about 1 month out if she can get time from work. Can I take his name off reservation and leave as a single room ( pay supplement) and then add someones name and if so how long before sailing.

    Thanks for help
