  1. Okay - good point! I hadn't thought of that.

Maybe what I can do instead is order something from Bon Voyage for their room. Some chocolates or some other kind of goodies.

    Maybe that will be better.

    Thanks for the advice!

This is exactly what we're doing for our friends on our March Breeze cruise. I've ordered flowers and treats for their rooms. On our last trip I got t-shirts for the kids. Was a very appreciated surprise!

  3. Thank you! It's funny how my teenage boys give me grief about my camera but then want to make sure "did I get that shot??????"! We make Shutterfly albums of our trips and the Valor cruise took 3 photo albums to complete but it sure is worth it having all the memories.

  4. Our last Carnival cruise we sailed on the Valor spa deck 11. The balcony was not covered and we absolutely loved the view. Yes, people from deck 12 could look down and see us if we were standing at the railing but it was just a few times during the week and it didn't bother us in the least. Our cruise on the Valor was very windy and could even be called cool for temperatures though it was January. We loved our balcony view and openness so much that we booked another open balcony on the Breeze; spa deck 12. On the Breeze it doesn't appear that people can look down at you on your deck 12 balcony.

I'm curious for those that have stayed in these types of cabins if you would book them again? Did rain or too much sun hamper the enjoyment of your trip? We didn't experience either on our last trip so it wasn't an issue. For me, the view is everything and it was utterly fantastic from the open balcony! I swear I'm spoiled now and won't book lower decks in the future.

  5. Room 1112 on the Valor. We love the open balcony views!!

Balcony ~ We enjoyed that our balcony was open even though people on Deck 12 could look down on us. If you didn't want to be seen, you just didn't sit up against the guard rail. We didn't have any issues with this balcony and we loved the openness.

  6. I'm curious what shared balcony stories are out there; I'm sure there are some good ones!

We are sailing with some of our best friends on the Breeze and we have connecting spa balconies. As the cruise planner, I have yet to tell our friends that we can share a balcony if we choose to. We're not terribly private people or modest for that matter but my concern is leaving the curtains open and oops, there is my neighbor standing in the window. Or, finding one of them passed out at my balcony door. :D

(Balcony features: 2 patio chairs and table / balcony partition opens to: 12021)

  7. Our PVP selected connecting cove balconies for our friends. Currently they are booked in rooms 2268 and 2272. I believe these are great rooms as they aren't under the galley and I don't think 2272 has a lifeboat over it. I am also assuming the balcony divider can be opened as well. They have the option to move to the rooms listed below but I think they should stay where they are. The rest of us will be forward on spa deck 12 so the elevators close by will be convenient. Please let me know if there is something I am missing. Thanks in advance!

  8. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami for 2 nights before we sail. I like it because I can use points; see the port from a bay-side room and also it's right next to Bayside Marketplace for shopping and dining. We will take a taxi to the port. Good luck!

  9. Blister guards and band-aids in case shoes cause problems. That can be so uncomfortable especially if you purchased new shoes for formal night! I always bring a baseball cap too. It's great for messy hair days and keeps the sun out of your eyes. Also don't forget sunscreen lip protector. I burned my lips my first cruise because I wore "lip glass" gloss on the deck, so not smart.

  10. Send an email to shoreexcursions@carnival.com with your booking number. I also added ship and sail date but you probably wouldn't need to. This is the email I got!

    Good news!!

A handful of additional space for your sailing is in process of being added for this date... should be available in about 2 minutes....

Please act fast, as these too will quickly sell out again. ☺

    Wishing you a wonderful cruise,

  11. We are sailing on the Carnival Breeze out of Miami so ship time will be Eastern. We will be in San Juan from 8am-5pm. I "think" the ship time and island time will be the same.

We wanted to take our twin boys on a segway tour for their birthday as they will be turning 16 when we are in San Juan. The tour company has a 2 hour excursion (not Carnival) available at 1:30pm which should end at 3:30pm island time. This is the only time they are offering. Will this give us enough time to be back on ship?

    Thanks in advance!

  12. You will see a little of everything on Carnival though I can say tuxes are pretty scarce. We wear suits during the week for work so when we cruise we try to abide by the rules while staying comfortable. My DH can be found in business casual for dinner while I wear sundresses. We do dress a little nicer on formal nights sans jackets. In fact on our next cruise DH may even wear dress shorts for dinner:eek:! It's a personal preference and you will find varying opinions on this board. Carnival tends to be very casual.

  13. My friends have small 3 children and have booked Breeze cabin 1415 which is a deluxe oceanview for 5 on deck 1. Can you tell me if the head of the king bed is directly under the window? Some pictures show the bed under the window while in other pics the bed is against the wall. Is there a window ledge that the kids can sit in as one video shows? Confused about the bed placement and window!

  14. Do it! Once you go balcony.... you'll never go back!!!

    Bob

Agreed! We find ourselves relaxing on our balcony frequently; enjoying morning coffee, reading a book, arriving or leaving port, and watching for pier runners. We won't cruise without a balcony after experiencing the other room types. The Pitons are worth the $400 for the view!
