  1. I was thinking the same. Loads of people are killed in domestic incidents, and I'm sure quite a few are killed in hotels and the like, and we don't always hear of those. There's something about cruise ships, I guess, so contained and supposedly happy and removed from real life. Alas, as people here have noted, you're still the same person on the ship that you were on land, and while you could be happier and more relaxed, you could also be worse, with drinking and partying with other people and all.

While I wasn't referring to drinking/partying, perhaps we will find out if that played a role later. I certainly would not doubt it. We've certainly heard many balcony conflicts that were alcohol related. We just feel bad for the family and friends of the victim. If the attacker is found guilty, I hope he sees maximum justice.

Every death from domestic violence should be front page news. The MSM is taking advantage here for clicks. That's sad.

  2. Horrible situation indeed, and may that poor woman rest in peace.

Domestic violence happens every day in every country across the globe but it is rarely reported on. It happens on a cruise ship and it's front page news. What about the other victims no one ever hears about? :(

  3. Yep, crew stairs. You take them down for the muster drill and can take them back up if you'd like to avoid the elevator crowd. You will not hear any extra noise back there. We always book C742 or C743 on Grand Class ships for the "extra" little balcony corner and never hear a peep. Calling Princess to put in a "Meta Upgrade Only" request is a good idea.

  4. Oh! Reminds me of one of our 2012 cruises. We always have a long-time friend house sitting for us, babysitting our dogs. Normally, the GF wouldn't think about them too much...aside from the framed pictures all over the cabin.

RCCL had 8-10 Golden Retrievers on board that were being trained as assistance animals. When they were out and about we were not allowed to touch them, speak to them, etc. It was SOOOO hard! The GF had such a hard time when we would occasionally end up in an elevator with a one-year-old "puppy" in training

  5. Another vote for Nachi Cocom. So much fun, and so beautiful. Also worth noting, (I could be wrong on this) but I believe they only allow a set amount of people in to prevent over-crowding. This makes a huge difference in my opinion.

Yep, limited to 130 per day. When we were last there about a year ago it wasn't crowded at all. Never had to wait for food or drinks. Love that place!
