Nice review! We live about an hour south of Des Moines and have flown out of Des Moines, Kansas City, Omaha, and Moline, Illinois on various trips. Years ago it seemed like flights from KC were usually significantly cheaper than Des Moines, but lately that isn't always the case. It is still expensive to fly to any cruise port from the Midwest.

There is something special about a mother/daughter (or father/son) cruise. Just yesterday Laurie and I were reminiscing about what a great time we had on the Legend.

Thanks to everyone who took time to read my review. I didn't get to cruise this year; instead my husband and I went to an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic with friends. We had a good time but my first choice would still be a cruise. Unfortunately I can't get this particular group of friends interesting in cruising.

I am enjoying your very nice review, Jenn. I am glad JH was able to help you. He was CD on my very first cruise back in 1992 and he is part of the reason I am hooked on cruises. I am a relative newbie here and was sort of shocked to find how many folks do not like him. I really liked him and his sense of humor.

Carnival's dress code is pretty relaxed. There are two "elegant" nights where you will see people in everything from jeans to evening gowns. The rest of the nights are very casual. It's been a long time since my only Royal Caribbean cruise but I would guess from what I've read here at CC the dress codes are much the same as Carnival's.

If you don't want to go to the MDR you can go to the buffet (don't need to dress up at all there)or the extra charge steakhouse, and there is always pizza.

I think the Legend is our favorite ship. Been on her 3 times and once on her sister the Miracle. Just wish she went to Costa Maya which is our favorite 'relax at the beach day' in the village of Majuhaul.

I just searched this thread and I didn't find.... How did you get your pics to be so big? I can only get a thumbnail....

I uploaded pics to Shutterfly first and then copied the link to the photo there to the website here. It seems if you just try to link the photo from your computer you only get the thumbnail. If you search "uploading photos" or "posting photos" you should come up with several threads with step by step instructions.
