I know a gentleman that works at a resort hotel as a bellhop and he makes upwards of $50k a year in tips.
I do hope he declares it as additional income and pays the appropriate tax.

Are served in the dining room.. And under $10
Not according to this post by marciemi
Just off the Epic and we found that while nearly everything was included, coffee drinks were not. Not just the plain espresso but even the alcohol ones. We asked at two bars and were told that you had to pay for things like Irish Coffee, Spanish Coffee, etc. with the UBP. I didn't ask about the Martini but the whole page they had of coffee drinks (that were all like $8-10, not the $3-5 non-alcoholic ones) were not included. I'm not a huge coffee fan so didn't worry about it but just wanted to give a heads up on my experience.

Order a coffee and order a Jamison mix said jamison into coffee with sugar and there you go.
Not exactly an Irish coffee though:)

If they are not in there just ask..
I would never think of asking for robes if they were not in the wardrobe. I would consider it pretty cheeky to ask for such a trivial oversight. I am sure that the stewards have better things to do rather than attend to such a mundane request

That's a pretty strong statement there. Don't you think so?
Absolutely not !. It is just another weary tale from another American trying to get the rest of the World to accept the fact that they just love to tip anything that moves. OK if you actually wish to live your lifes like that but for those people who think that tipping is optional or discretionary, just leave it at that.

The tiresome is quite mutual!
Tiresome and mutual are both adjectives !! :)

I am pretty certain that you could have saved money by booking your own flights. On most NCL fly drives they tend to quote double the airfare than arranging your own flight. still, if you enjoyed the experience then OK.

The crew members would have to turn in cash that they knowingly received from the people that removed their service charges. You know this already! But, then again these threads are just fun and games to you.
Thanks for your irrational comment. The threads are no more "fun and games" as you put it, than a large number of posts that make absolutely no sense at all. You appear to take umbridge with every post I make which I find very tiresome.

On two different cruise lines, HAL and NCL, we have been told by various crew members that there is a list of those who remove DSC, including those who do it the last evening.
So what effect would happen, if crew members discovered on the last night that certain passengers had adjusted or removed the Discretionary Service Charge?
It's afternoon here and nope, I'm genuinely just wondering because they feel so strongly about the matter (claiming that their email states something) and at the same time accuse others of filling in the blanks with their own opinions. ;)
Sorry about the time mistake. I should have remembered the 2 hour time difference having once worked for a Finnish company -

That is very interesting. This was the reply from RVSullivan recently:
No, drinks such as Irish Coffee are available in the package if the bar has coffee available (not all do). The reference to specialty coffees is the coffee bar drinks like Cafe Mocha etc. You can get all the Irish Coffee you want.

Please click the link I provided and tell me if the email you got is really a different one?
Feeling a bit grumpy this morning are we? :)

Speaking of Pepsi....anyone know when that contract is up? Them serving Pepsi is the biggest mark against NCL IMHO. I really wish they would make the switch to Coke.
6&8
Exactly what is the difference?

We have booked our first NCL cruise on the NCL Escape for April of 2016. As you can see by my signature, we have only sailed Carnival. What can I expect from NCL? Thanks!
One thing you will not find is women poncing around in ball gowns and guys in penquin suits. Relax, wear what you want and eat when you want

So what was the point in posting nothing just to get the posts "up the ladder" again.? All that stuff was read 2 months ago

We are considering booking a NCL cruise for Jan 2016. We have cruised CCL and RCI and we like the traditional MDR style for dinner. We like going to dinner and having the same wait staff, we also like the formal nights as well. How does the "Freestyle" dining compare. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks
Al and Julie
If you like having the same waiters for Dinner and also formal nights, I seriously question why you would want to cruise with NCL?

I am very surprised that you did not even check on what you may have got out of NCL even after final payment date. Similar to our booking, the price at one stage increased by 75%. When the promotion of UBP came out, the prices were still a lot more than we paid. We made the final payment and then found that the price had dropped to even less than the opening base price. At that stage, I was a little miffed so I contacted our TA, who persuaded NCL UK to re-book the deal in the same cabin (they blocked the system until re-booked) and included the 2 promotion choices of $200 OBC and the UBP.:)

Thanks for that. It was not so much the bars I was enquiring about but Irish coffees after the evening meal in the MDR's.
-
I understand that speciality coffees are not included in the UBP. Does that include after dinner drinks like Irish Coffee? I can see no reference to these liqueurs at all
-
Once you hit final payment date, all bets are off.
Not necessarily.:)

The question was how much is a $250 cruise certificate worth now in the NCL UK office, not what it was last year !
-
Basic common sense would help from a number of posts:(
-
anyone know what the $250 future cruise credit value is in £'s when used at the uk office?
I know that the form you fill in onboard displays a £ value, just wondering how much the $250 translates to at the minute.
£166.
