It wouldn't surprise me one bit you coming to US and waitstaff giving you the stink eye for not leaving a $2 tip for a $20 meal at a diner.

10% is fine. It is only the greed of USA residents who have decided to go for more
-
It looks like you are from the UK.
Lastly, if you have ever visited the US and dined at any restaurant with a part of 6 or more, too late, you've already paid gratuity; and its more than just 15%.
Yes Blackburn is in England. I have been to America numerous times but never with more than 2 people. I have also never paid 15% in any restaurant
-
But don't purposely give out the wrong information because of your beliefs, which is exactly why people are correcting you.

Wrong information??? How can not wishing to pay 15% tip be classed as wrong. ?
I never have and never will pay 15% tip to anybody.

...and the ill informed crusade continues unabated.
Good job of editing my statement to further your insipid goals.
Thank you for your sarcastic reply:rolleyes:. Exactly what is your problem now.?
The thread is about tipping started by runner 2013. I am simply pointing out that the 15% amount is only a suggestion by NCL. Even you must see this. Whilst it may be automatically and charged to your on-board account, the figure HAS to be negotiable. You may be happy about being charged 15% for a tip. In my opinion it is far too much. Only in America is this amount ( and more) expected.
-
...to be increased if you so choose, and you know it!!
Are you just trying to get another legitimate thread deleted because of your continued hijacking activities?
Why hijack? The opening post header is : Tipping w.no drink package
I appreciate that the tip can be increased. Equally so, it can be decreased. Nobody can force anybody to pay a 15% tip.
-
No, it is NOT suggested. It is included in the end price. A pop costs $2.50 and the total paid by the cruiser will be $2.75
One can then add an extra tip above that final total IF THEY WISH.
This is NCL USA site:
What about tipping? In addition, a suggested gratuity of 15% on drink bills and 18% on spa and salon bills will be added automatically and charged to your on-board account.
-
Your drink tab will have 15% added to it, so no need to tip.
This is a suggested amount from Norwegian Cruise Line. !!

4) To get away from "the rift raft".
I guess you really mean Riff Raff, unless you are talking about floating around.

What is the best time of year to do this cruise?
Is it worth it to do the pre-cruise to Pearl Harbor
Or do it on your own?
You need to get to Pearl Harbour as early as you can. The queues start at around 7.00am
-
BTW - you forgot black pudding in your list (though I have seen it on NCL in the buffet for breakfast many years ago).
Black Puddings are the speciality for residents of Bury. We are 10 miles away. Anyway, much prefer Haggis and Neeps.:)

Our three favourite meals at home are Tattie Hash, Scouse and Tripe and Onions. We have always wanted to find these dishes on NCL in the MDR's but so far have never found them. Do they have these in the specialty restaurants?
-
I realise this doesn't apply to you, op, but in case others from the UK are reading:
We were able to pay the difference between what we paid and the current rate to upgrade our cabin, a month before sailing.

I think I will give the upgrade idea a miss. Our price has RISEN 76% since booking !!

It was only the freestyle concept of NCL that persuafed DW to go a cruise in the first place. The idea of dressing up to order and having to dress in certain ways on certain nights was a real no-no. Also we would have hated to be seated with complete strangers whilst dining and being stuck with either early or late sittings.
We now love the idea of casual dressing although we always at least go smart casual to the dining rooms in the evening. The idea of simply deciding on the day when you want to eat and where. We have never used the specialty restaurants as we find the food excellent in the MDR's and the buffet. We order 4 bottles if wine on our first day which is $88 + 15%. When you see programmes on TV of other cruise lines with all the guys in penquin suits and the ladies in long ball gowns, it just shows us the complete difference. There is no way in the world that DW would go on one of those cruises.
Enjoy your NCL cruise in the future

As I have told someone else, we have been told by NCL we don't need a passport, unless we need to fly home due to missing the ship. Don't get mad at me, get mad at NCL.
That is known as passing the buck !!

We stopped at the Santos winery on the way to Oia. This was at 9 am. There was a wine tasting (lots of people) but not much of a tour. Was more interested in taking pictures from the winery than the winery itself. There are lots of wineries in the world but not many places that have views like Santorini.

Was this an NCL tour?
-
I think the NCL tour does go to Santos Winery. When I was in Santorini last month we rented a car and drove around the island and stopped at Santos Winery and had dinner in Oia. Lots of photo opportunities along the way. Enjoy your cruise.
May I ask as to why you think the winery that NCL visit is Santos Winery? I understood that there are a number of wineries on Santorini and NCL decide nearer to each ships docking, which particular winery they will visit. This also depends on how many ships are in port that day and how many passengers have booked for the trip
-
Going to Corfu in June and docking at 8:00. We will be on NCL. Does anyone know if this ship docks or tenders?
Cruise ships dock at the New Port of Corfu (Liman), which is situated about a mile west of Corfu old town. There is usually a shuttle bus into the main terminal, and from here you can pick up another shuttle into Corfu old town.

I've never understood why (association) football has that tagline of "the beautiful game", neither as a player (not that I was able to play professionally) nor as a fan.
Strenuous, exhilarating, intense, joyous, tragic, addictive, sublime, violent, passionate, skillful... but beautiful? Nah.
You would have had to be involved in the game for many years as a fan/player/manager/secretary/referee/official/director to understand
-
As opposed to the other "football" when they dress up and kick the ball to each other... sounds rather familiar, LOL. :D
There is only one football. "The Beautiful Game".
In 1977 the Brazilian footballer Pelé named his autobiography My Life and the Beautiful Game. The book's dedication reads "I dedicate this book to all the people who have made this great game the Beautiful Game." The phrase has now entered the language as a colourful description for football and as such was used as part of the title for the 13-part 2002 series charting the history of the game: History of Football: The Beautiful Game.:)
-
Or indeed, what actions if any are being taken by NCL staff if smoking or vaping is found to be taking place in the cabins or on the balcony? Has anybody been dobbed in yet by other passengers?

From what I see on 14 day Med cruise 6/6/2015 it stops in Santorini Tues 6/16/2015
Sorry for my incorrect and confusing post. I was merely looking at 7 nights out of Venice, forgetting about a 14 night B2B
-
On a side note If your going off ship at Santorini give yourself lots of time if your take the funicular back down as the line ups are quite long especially if there are a lot of ships in port and it will be extremely hot while waiting.
The 6th June 2015 sailing does not go anywhere Santorini. It is Venice; Dubrovnik; Athens (Piraeus); Ephesus (Kusadasi); Split; Venice

I keep looking for Blackburn's EPL fixtures in my Program Guide, but I can't find them. When are they on? :)
Have a look at the fixtures for 15th August 2015.:D

While I do love "soccer" I was speaking of American Football:rolleyes:
Sorry, when you said football, I thought you meant proper football, not that second rate American substitute where they dress up and chuck the ball at each other.:)

Put up what exactly? The board is all about opinions and it seems that yours differ to mine. Is it not called democracy?
