  1. We will be in Roatan in just over a week. We are doing a tour with Victor Bodden and have a couple of places we are wanting to go but either before or after those I really want to relax on a beach have a few beverages....;) and maybe get a bite to eat. And I really don't want to pay a big day use fee on top of the tour fee. Where would you suggest?

I have watched a few youtube videos on west bay and west end. I think I like west end a little more. I seems a little more local.

    Thank you

  2. Yes. It was $1.20 at a grocery store...

WOW is it really good. My father in law brings me some from Mexico and there is definitely a difference.

    Thank you

  3. We'll see how ours turns out next week but I think it should be good. We all had to sign up specifically for the M&G and the list is updated and circulated often. Further, one member arranged for a list of "key words" where each member gave some key words about themselves ahead of time for conversation starters.

Also, someone organized a slot pull following the M&G.

I sometimes don't make it to the M&G because I get carried away having other kinds of fun, but I feel more inclined to go to this one because of the organizing that has gone into it.

Can you give some examples of how the key word thing worked. I may want to pass this along to the person running our M & G. She has never done one before.

    Thanks

  4. there are several good rules of composition that help travel photography.

    The rule of thirds

    leading lines

framing (marysb used this in a couple shots posted above)

I have posted some tutorials on composition at http://www.familytravelphotos.com/travel-photo-tips/ if you're not familiar with these.

Another good idea - put a subject in your image. Taking a panoramic shot of some ruins is good, but also take one where a close column or sculpture is predominate in the image with ruins in the background. The rule of thirds is really important for this type of shot.

Thank you so much for the tips. I will try to post them on this thread.

  5. We headed back to the room to finish the little bit of unpacking I still had left to do and daddy fell asleep watching t.v.

For some odd reason, I decided I didn't like what he was "not" watching at the time and switched the channel. What did I see?????? THE FRICKEN BRIDGE IN THE FRONT CAMERA!!!! OOHHHH EEEMMMM GEEEEE!!! I completely forgot about passing under the bridge in approximatley 2 hours after departure. What was I thinking. I started up my panic mode, grabbed my camera and told Sakari "LET'S GO!!!" We raced up to the pool deck and right as well walked out the doors, this is what I seen:

We were already passing right under it!! D*(&%^@!#*)*&^%!!!!!! Grrr, I couldn't believe it.

I was able to get some pictures after we passed under, but still, not what I was wanting!

I was officially hitting myself in the forehead now for not remembering this.

After returning to the room, Sakari found us a little present under the bed:

Yes, that's exactly what you think it is...boys underwear left behind! Glad to know they clean so well.

Also, this is the first time that we have came to our room and didn't have ANY ice in our ice bucket. I really needed some caffeine and of course my soda wasn't cold yet since it was only day 1. I called housekeeping and they did not answer. I called customer service and ask them about getting some ice and they said they don't fill ice buckets until the evening. Now I know I have had ice in my bucket before the evening on the other cruises.

I also told customer service about the dirty underwear left in our room. They sent a manager to our room and he ask where it was, I pointed on the floor and he reached down and picked it up...without gloves. I wanted to puke a little in my mouth, but hey, his hands not mine.

I might also add that if I can't get something done, I'll do it myself. I located a cart with a cooler filled with ice and went in and got it myself!!!

What setting do you have your camera on for these bridge shots. I got a new camera for christmas for this same cruise in Feb. I've been practicing so that i can get great pics.

    Thanks Bobbie
