(A fellow Ontario resident) From Belleville, you may actually consider driving to NYC instead of the drive to Toronto then flights. Leave the day before, stay outside of NYC for the night, then drive in and park at the cruise terminal. If you have the time, you will probably find that it costs less $ than parking in Toronto + flights (for 2) + taxi/driver to/from a NYC airport.
We're from Ottawa and do the same thing. Although pier parking is "expensive" that plus a hotel about an hour from Manhattan will be less then the cost of one airfare.

Carnival uses the Manhatten pier (assuming the Vista isn't too big).

not at all, very myopic thinking, it's not just the cruise price, hospitalization, missing a port, medical evac
Having been medically evacuated from a ship I can tell you with certainty that insurance saved me from the cost of:
- Out of coverage medical costs.
- Flying my wife from the next port of call to where I was evacuated.
- Her hotel and meals.
- Cost of flying us both home.
- Expenses for her to return to our departure port to recover our car and the remainder of our luggage.
- Other misc. costs
All told the payments were over $100,000.
Anyone who travels out of country without proper insurance is an ... well you know.
- Out of coverage medical costs.

One, same as if you were 2 in a room and one a minor.

As long as there is talk of, let alone an actual OPEC freeze, the Canadian dollar will continue to rise against the USD.
I'd wait, whilst keeping an eye on the gas and oil market news.

People need to learn the difference between Carnival Corporation and Carnival Cruise Line.

Book by phone.

Carnival doesn't care where anyone sleeps just where they book.
Book one of the kids in another room and the can stay with Mom and Dad.

Anyone who wears flip flops on the lido deck is a sadist. They really ARE made for walking in the sand so the sand drops out. Wearing them on a smooth surface is like wearing ice skates.
Masochist, a sadist would be the one wetting the deck. ;)

I guess I need to be clued in to what people are so excited about regarding Amber Cove. I got the impression it was going to be sort of a Grand Turk experience. So, a free clean beach, but what's the big deal?
I don't get the whole manufactured port of call thing either. I'd rather experience the real islands.

3/4 of your suggestions are "fluff" any savvy cruiser would consider insulting. The other 1/4 are things too complicated for the cruiseline to adminstrate effectively.
Clearly, based on the nauseating debates, the only loyalty perk the masses care about is the party where free unlimited drinks are served. Anything else is irrelevant.
And the Platinum free Laundry. Of course any program is going to have to be revenue neutral so fares would have to,increase or a cut mad somewhere.

Is the Sunshine really that bad, crowded? Or should we just ignore all the bad reviews. We've never had a bad time.
It was that bad when it was the Destiny.

As long as you haven't reached the mandatory final payment date, your TA can get you a lower rate regardless who much you have already paid you can get the lowest rate you are eligible for. The only thing is you may have to pay your full deposit depending on what rate you are looking at.
Once you pass the mandatory final payment date, you are only eligible for lower rates if you booked early saver. Check with your TA they will be able to tell you.

Actually a careful shopper can get 2 twin beds for the upper/lower price if one knows what cabins to get. Some upper/lowers cabins with twins can be converted to king. ;)

I don't think it is that inconsistent that a company has changed its business practices a couple of times over the 6 year lifespan of this thread.

You people are reading way too much into this.
Obviously the Pres is a grammar Nasi and is just being grammatically correct. It is a single cruIse line not plural.

If you cruise/travel more then once a year, another money saving tip would be to investigate annual coverage.

If Storm N Norm is reporting it, it must be true. He has his nose up the head cruise directors rump and gets all the breaking news first.
Actually he is just quoting the previous CC thread. Definitely not double confirmation.

Someone is stuck in a causality loop.

8 Grand? You were lucky.
My bill came to 70K all in. Thank you insurance. -
I wonder if they will put e-cigs in the gift shops?
I see no problem with smokers doing their thing with the e-cigs on the balconies... But I am sure someone will complain about that also.
As a non-smoker with a smoking spouse, it's definately gonna be harder to get hubby on a cruising vacation....
Currently on Carnival ecig = cig.

The "taxes" are port fees and taxes, not a salestax, it has nothing to do with the price of the cruise.
Often Carnival will lower a cruise fare to compensate for a rAise in taxes. The often go down as well. Carnival will credit your S&S card in those cases.

I'm loyal to Carnival (nothing against the other lines) and would never jump ship. And as for not filling the ships can you post where you found this fact.
It is right in the article: “We’re holding the price and giving up the occupancy, and that’s worked very well for us over the last year,” Chief Financial Officer David Bernstein said"
It should be noted (despite the error in the article), this is Carnival corporate, not Carnival Cruise Lines, so they could be talking about price increases on their more upscale lines, not necessarily CCL.

Are you insinuating that Carnival would allow parents to board early using a service they paid for and allowing them to leave their minor children sitting in the terminal waiting for their zone? Same as tendering? That's quite a liability.
No the parents would be told to use general boarding.
cell phone alarm usable?

Us poor folks use Airplane mode to avoid the outrageous roaming fees (particularly data) charged by our carriers. Must be nice not to have to worry about that.
