  1. We got married on the third day of the cruise as well. Everything went SMOOTHLY. I can't say it enough, it was absolutely perfect. We literally had 2 things that went wrong and they were so insignificant that I truly felt the day couldn't have been any more perfect than it was.

Regarding your make up, I bought a setting spray and it helped so much in keeping my makeup in place that I didn't really have to do much of a touch up before the pictures. The pictures came out perfect, I was torn about which ones I wanted to buy, that my mother-in-law ended up buying all of them for us as a wedding present. See my signature for one of the pictures they took.

I did little brown bags for everyone (everyone sailed with us since we were married the 3rd day) and just put in travel size items like antacid, aspirin, ear plugs and honestly right now I can't remember what else!

Enjoy your cruise and your wedding day. It will be magical but go by so fast!!

  2. Hi!! Just found your board and am very interested in joining the discussion! DH and I both lost a lot of weight before our last cruise, but it was also our wedding, so we had a lot of incentive. Then after the cruise, the 'honeymoon' didn't really end and we both ended up gaining a lot of weight back. I have been wanting to get back to eating healthier and working out. This weekend we booked both a 4th anniversary cruise and a 5th anniversary cruise for next year! Not wanting our cruise photos to look worse than our wedding photos, I have new incentive to work out!

  3. Even though I haven't been on too many cruises, for us it is port first (we live in Florida, but I still hate having to drive to Miami, yes I know a lot of you drive a LOT further). Second is dates. We have to figure out if my DH can take off of work, and if my exH will take my son for our trips. The last cruise we took was for our wedding and the next 2 we are taking are for our anniversary. Then we decide itinerary and price combined.

I would love to try a cruise with my son, but haven't decided which one yet. He is 16, but has autism and is non-verbal and is still mentally like a toddler. I don't know if I would be able to relax and enjoy myself, as I would be worried about him the entire time. I had nightmares before our last cruise that he fell overboard, even though he wasn't even going with us!

I'm thinking we might start a tradition though and do an anniversary cruise ever year!

  4. Hi Cruising Bride! My situation was a little different. We got married on the ship in Grand Cayman and not in the island itself. Not sure if you were planning on getting married on the island or on the ship.

We let them pick the time for the wedding and we had a two hour reception after the wedding. We were on a five day cruise that left on a Monday and we got married on Wednesday which was our first port day.

I didn't really ask for too much in regards to set up. The only thing I asked for was a special table to set up my souvenirs, a picture of my parents wedding and a guest book. I had my nephew go down to the reception room ahead of time and set it all up for me.

As for make up, my sisters did my hair and I did my own makeup. But I like doing my makeup myself. I used to sell cosmetics at a department store. I ended up just going in to a Mac counter and got a makeover so I could get some specific ideas for the wedding and bought all my makeup there. Then I just practiced a bunch to make sure I wouldn't be nervous the day of.

I am not sure I could have gotten my makeup done in port as I didn't even look into it.

    Hope this helps!! 😊

  5. It has been almost 4 years since my Carnival Paradise wedding, but it too was a smaller older ship. It was perfect. I couldn't have been happier with the way everything went and with the way the ship looked. We got married in the middle of the cruise, while in port in Grand Cayman, and they took care of EVERYTHING. The wedding truly went off without a hitch, and the pictures came out so amazing that my mother-in-law ended up buying us the photo package with all of the pictures in them! Good luck!

  6. We were on the Carnival Paradise, leaving from Tampa from Monday, May 13th through Saturday, May 18th. We were married on the ship on Wednesday,May 15th, while it was in Grand Cayman.

Wow!! The cruise itself was so much fun. The wedding was PERFECT!! I could never have asked for a better wedding. The food was great, the drinks were flowing, and the Carnival Hostess for the wedding was so attentive. The minister was sincere and caring. He went off a bit from the pre-written vows that Carnival asks you to choose from, but he went through his changes with my husband first and then with me to make sure we would be okay with them. They were great and very meaningful.

The best part was the pictures. We had Enrico as our photographer, and you could truly tell he loves what he does, and he put so much effort and heart and soul into the pictures. I was blown away with how they came out. I also got super lucky because my MIL decided we deserved the pictures and bought the package that included every single picture he took! Wow.

Still trying to adjust to being back on land! I'm swaying when I am standing or sitting still!!

For now, here are the wedding pictures. I uploaded them all to Photobucket as there are soooo many, so check out the link below, but I did include one picture here that is one of my favorites.

I'm still working on getting all the other pictures we purchased from around the cruise scanned in so I can upload them and of course all the other pictures we took.

Thank you to all the brides for the support and encouraging words throughout my planning process, which was over a year!!:eek:

I made posters for each of the cabins coming with us on the cruise. I bought those 3M Command Strips where it won't mar the surface when you take off the strip. And I'm going to leave it up to each cabin to decide if they want to put them up or not, but I thought it would be fun!

The little white things (in case you couldn't tell) are little honeycomb wedding bells.

  8. OKgirl,

I like the way you roll ;)

I'm going to see if it is on the Paridise tomorrow.

Oooooh!!! Please come back and let me now if they have added it to the Paradise. We sail in less than 3 weeks but the information I can find right now says it isn't offered on the Paradise.

  9. Thanks so much for the review!! And your pictures are lovely!! We are getting married on the Paradise leaving from Tampa, but we chose to not have the wedding at embarkation, but on the ship while it is in Grand Cayman. It did mean our guests HAVE to sail with us, but I'mhoping that it will still go off without a hitch.

Congratulations to you and your beautiful wife!

  10. This is the exact reason we decided to get married on the Paradise leaving from Tampa instead. I want a destination wedding and not an embarkation wedding, so we are getting married when we are in port in Grand Cayman as they do not have a time frame that you have to wait before getting married. The entire package costs $2,225 and it is only $350 extra to have The Wedding Experience get the marriage license for us.

And for those who are saying that we could miss port, yes that can happen. Anything can happen like a fire in the engine room on the Triumph. But you plan for the best and when the worse happens you just say, oh well and move on. I don't want to get married before the ship leaves and then have a 'symbolic' ceremony on Grand Cayman. Just not the same.

Good luck to the OP, and don't worry about naysayers. You have the wedding you want and have fun!

  11. I never understood this door decorating. It is tacky.

To you maybe. I think it is a lot of fun, and we are planning on including door decorations in our Welcome Aboard bags for our guests. Those that are sticks in the mud like you, don't have to decorate their doors. :D

  12. Well that finally worked!! Here is the picture that Tigerfan79 sent me of the cake too. I have seen a different cake topper in other people's wedding pictures so not sure which one comes with the cake. My fiance and I though are pretty much okay with the flowers as they come and the cake. We are just so excited to be able to share our day with our friends and family onboard a wonderful and relaxing cruise!!
