You're right on the first part. It's not just Carnival though. It's most companies. It's my company. But I don't think the stock is down over pens.

Didn't say it was down over pens. I said "Maybe all of the cutbacks are having an impact".

While it possibly can be done, all we have ever seen or experienced was full plate (they are preplated).

I think that you are correct on Carnival. It's a waste of food.

Recently on an Ante-Up poker cruise, on RCL, they brought our table a platter of extra lobsters when we asked for more.

It appears that Royal has copied the "bid for upgrade program" that NCL has been doing, will Carnival end up doing the same thing?

I like "bid for upgrade" programs.

I like to fly Alitalia (JFK-FCO). I always buy Premium Economy because if there are open Business Class seats you can bid for them. I have been able to get upgrades at 1/2 the price or less (total) of the seat cost originally.  And if I don't get the upgrade their PE is a decent product, better than domestic First Class.

I wish that Carnival Corp would do it on all of their lines.

Does anyone have any experiences flying in the day of the cruise?

we know most people say to fly in a day earlier, but my wife and i are taking an 8 day Caribbean cruise on the magic and with total travel time we have maxed our vacation days from work and can not, unfortunately fly in the day before. its in october so we have time, flights are booked thru my carnival agent with the fly2fun program. we can change them if need be.

both my wife and i are hoping we can get the extra day and change our flights, but if not, we want to hear some experiences to soothe our fears.  i used to fly a lot when i was in the military and i never had much problems, if any, with delays that were at all significant, but life happens.

Unless we are cruising from overseas we almost always arrive the morning of the cruise - except NOLA, I like extra time in NOLA. In 2017 we chanced arriving the same day for a cruise out of Rome - all went well but it was a little stressful.  We are going back to Rome in Jan 2020 for a cruise but we will arrive 3 days early this time.

I always order double on lobster night, but that’s it.

Double? Only double? I eat about a billion of them..... or at least 3. Lobster 2 through ???? I tell them to bring the lobster only, no sense wasting the shrimp and veggies.

I'd say it's best to look up some data on October Hawaii weather vs hearing everyone's opinions on the weather. From a few quick links, it looks to be a pretty good time to go!

I know once we get to Hawaii the temps will be warm. I'm curious about the temps at sea to and from if anyone has cruised there that time of the year. Trying to get some information help me convince her to take the cruise.

  7. My wife and I are considering booking the Carnival Legend 16-day Hawaiian Island cruise out of Vancouver (return San Pedro) Sep 26th – Oct 12th.

My question is, do any of you know how the weather is, temperature wise, in-route to/from that time of the year?  My wife says that with that many sea days she would want warm weather so that she could lay in the sun.

$20 per person to both the driver and to the guide?

That's right. Not enough?  We are comfortable with that amount so that is usually our "standard" tip - we have tipped more and we have tipped less depending on our level of satisfaction with the service.

  9. US citizens traveling to Europe without a visa will be a thing of the past come 2021.

The European Union announced on Friday that American travelers will need a new type of visa -- a European Travel Information and Authorization System or ETIAS -- to visit the European Schengen Area.

The Schengen Area is a zone of 26 European countries that do not have internal borders and allow people to move between them freely, including countries like Spain, France, Greece, Germany, Italy and Poland.

Currently, US citizens can travel to Europe for up to 90 days without a visa.

To apply for the ETIAS, US citizens will need a valid passport, an email account and a credit or debit card, the EU said. Minors, the website said, will still only need their normal passports to travel after the visas go into effect.

The Union said that the ETIAS visa is valid for three years and allows Americans to enter the Schengen Area as many times as necessary.

On the ETIAS website, the European Union said it "has recently decided to improve their security level to avoid any further problems with illegal migration and terrorism."

The United States has been in a dispute with the EU's European Parliament and European Commission over visas for Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania and Cyprus. Travelers in those five countries are the only EU nations that the US requires to apply for a visa.

I am considering upgrading to a balcony and was wondering what the difference is. Is the Cove one obscured by a lifeboat? How will I know if I get a good balcony? We have never had a balcony and would love input. Is it worth the money? We love the sound of the water and think that would be nice to sit out late at night and just enjoy it. Give me your inputs please.

My wife loves Cove Balconies.... They are closest to the water. Your view is obstructed only if you look up.  The balcony is not as "open" as higher balconies.  Booked only the forward Cover Balconies.  Photos from the Breeze

going on the Sunshine in Nov & carnival is charging for a 1 yr old .The worst part is they are making me get a room that can handle 3 people & they are charging for port tax & tips .

This is a 1yr old she wont be eating in any of the venues & she wont be making a mess ( of the room lol ) Has this happened to anyone Im I just to suck this up ? Help.

NCL often offers 3rd/4th passenger free - still have to pay port fees/taxes.

Once a day, evening. When they ask, I usually say just leave extra towels. If I happen to have room service plates to clear, I just catch them when they are doing morning service. Never understood why I would need my room cleaned at 9AM and 5PM.

Evening is not so much about cleaning as it is leaving fresh towels and bed turn-down service.

We have this for the March 30th sailing. Did you find it worthwhile and do you know the earliest boarding allowed? I know 12 is the earliest check-in option but our shuttle for Go Canaveral is 10 am and is only a few miles from port.

I seem to remember that boarding starts around 11:30. So being FTTF, you should try to check-in when you arrive at the terminal. I know that as Platinum cruisers we check-in when we arrive, regardless of what our paperwork check-in time says.

My wife likes to get to our cabin asap, drop off our carry-on bags, and head for the Lido..... been like that every cruise for 20 years!

We would love to know your rule of thumb for tipping tour guides and/or drivers at the end of a Carnival excursion.  We never know whether to base it on the cost of the excursion, the length or just a flat amount.

Tip what you want to.  Most of the guides/drivers are grateful for whatever they get. Depending on the excursion we usually we tip at least $20 each for the driver and the guide.
