Thanks DaveOKC
I also take the paperwork along to the ship just in case.
In the past I have received a positive response prior to shipping out

Is it:
Book a pricy cabin?
Book a year ahead?
Mariner 4 or 5 star?
Or do you storm the gangway early?
Curious minds!!

I muse over the wording " Taken the day prior to their scheduled flight "
If multitudes of fellow Canucks flock aboard a March HAL cruise now that the draconian requirement of submitting to a PCR test pier side is dropped, how is the mini medical staff on board going to administer a quick antigen test on the second last day and advise the gaggle of their status?
I am assuming we will flock home the day the cruise ship festooned itself to the pier in FLL
I muse quietly

Will HAL do the Antigen test on the dock?
Will the antigen test have to be administered by a medical professional or can I do it on the last day while having my coffee with breakfast on our balcony?
curious minds want to know!!

In these tough times does anyone know what is on the drawing board for the next size ship?
thanks

First hand chronicle of his involvement
An answer to many of your questions

I always wondered what would happen to a passenger who tested positive on board. Your sojourn lifted the veil on what actually happens
Please relate what happens when you dock at destination!!
A good read

Alas I just perused an article the Koningsdam was turned away from Puerto Vallarta due to onboard covid cases
Ship number 4...
Hopefully the new year will bring about a change

😀 Just booking an interesting cruise brought on a smile
Packing took a week and you still forgot your favorite sun screen
The only test you took while cruising was blowing on your coffee in case it was too hot!!
Approaching your ship and smiling the whole time while boarding
No masks, no sanitizers and the laughing crowd when the ship left the dock
come on think back and offer your smiling memory!!

I canceled a HAL cruise for Feb.26
Too stressful getting tested at the dock praying it will result in a negative result.
What if it isn't. Or one person is positive. Who pays and where do you go. Does HAL put you up til you test negative or do they turn a blind eye?
Does HAL fly us back to YYZ upon a negative result having been achieved?
The fun factor of a relaxing cruise is gone. I dread the final day, the disembarkation and the nerve wracking test on the dock, not to mention filling out the additional apps .
This is our third cancellation since Trudeau shut our borders.
PS...went to Staples and got them to laminate a downsized health card and Ontario form showing 2 vacs and my booster shot for $7.50
Have a Merry Christmas everyone

A follow up by one of the positive tested passengers about how they were handled upon return to their arrival port would be welcome
Where were they quarantined? How long?
Did the cruise line pay?
Did RCCL pay for their flight home if rebooking took place?
-
Fouremco brought up a valid concern, namely what happens if you test positive at the end of your cruise. This element of stress having a flight back to Canada literally hours after our test and the 'what happens" factor 60 minutes later...maybe you are now at the airport in line to check in when your email says you are positive!!
HAL is not in the airport to aid in any decision
Bob.

Does HAL offer a PCR test on board (you pay extra... or not) for flights home the day of arrival in port?
If not can you get a paper copy of your negative test when you are tested on the dock?
thanks
-
I take it your flight wasn't before noon?
A bit nerve wracking for any earlier time than that!!

Thanks rodndonna. Was a piece of papar given to you after your test on the dock?
Bob

I noticed rodndonna (the OP) you are Canadian. Were you tested on the dock or on board at departure?
thanks

Keata where is the Canadian government document that states the box of 5 tests handed out at pharmacies and grocery stores good for reentry into Canada if done by a professional on the dock?
Thanks
